That compound grind is sort of like the Mora Kansbol... Which is full flat up front and scandi in the back. Except the Kansbol works.

The compound grind looks like it's meant to split wood instead of using the front of your blade to do it.

Haha, I just got one two days ago! I do have to say that mine came DULL, not even able to cut paper worth a crud. I had to reprofile the edge quite a bit and pull back the relief edge, but once done it is magic. LOVE the handle as well which is super comfy. All in all a great purchase and value.

Having both, the Propugnator looks to have a lil of the Microtech Socom Alpha Mini in its genes, minus the tanto, at a much more reasonable price point. Being former federal LE, where I spent 5 1/2+ years as a Long Term(deep) Undercover Operative(narcotics & child prostitution/human trafficking), I was involved in four(4) knife/dagger encounters. D2 was my steel of choice, as I still carry the two(2) knives/DE daggers that I used in those encounters and they're as sharp and in as good shape today as they were 25+ years ago. I carry five(5) knives/daggers concealed on my person along with my regular EDC, a heavy duty folder, as I own a machining company as well as a bar. I do not use my fixed blade fighting knives/daggers for anything cept their designed purpose, so cept for a regular rub down, they never leave their sheaths, as once I left that world behind, I stand a better chance of getting hit by lightning than I do of getting into knife fight as a regular citizen, lolol. That said, the Propugnator is an excellently designed, well crafted superbly priced fighting knife, though I myself prefer less belly on my fighting knives and daggers. Nice review🤙 Continued Success🍻 RP

I LIKE D2 ! D2 has become my favorite steel!, not because it is the BEST!, but best choice for me. So why should I pay 4x more!, for a 5 to 15% better steel. D2 is PERFECT!, for the ordinary average everyday needs of a typical person.

I bought one. I’ll admit to being shallow. I bought it based on looks. I believe it was designed with self defence in mind. I went to the designers website, PG Knives, and he calls it the Defender. So it stands to reason that at EDC tasks it doesn’t excel. I hope Civivi does more of his designs. Eighty dollars is easier to budget for than the custom price of $380. Thanks for the review.

G'day Aaron, well its different all right, but different just for the sake of being different, usually doesn't work out too well. As a tool its gotta be practicality first, ............. it aint a fancy dress costume ; ) Its kinda like a Kansbol/Eldris approach, which does make some sense for those, but still, cant say I'm a fan of dual grinds in general, because; one day you may require the finer grind at the front end, and on another you want it at the back, and same deal for the less acute grind, and then there's the transition point where the two grinds meet, ..... cant think of any task where that portion would be beneficial, .... more of a nuisance I'd say. Sure the sharpening is not that difficult, though why make it more fiddly than it needs to be. All in all, just creates more problems than it solves IMO. Btw; I'm gonna take 14C over D2 ........ every day !!!. Cheers Duke.

@gideonstactical I wish people would forget that term... Sorry for the rant. I love your work. I just have an unreasonable dislike for that term. A tanto looks nothing like what we call one here, and I "feel" that it is actually disrespectful to what is a beautiful and storied style of blade. The Americanized tanto, I'm pretty sure, was a marketing ploy by Lynn Thompson and others to prey upon the 1970s - 1980s Asian martial arts craze spurred on by Hollywood and Black Belt Magazine. A craze that also eventually gave us MMA, but saw made up martial arts and crap dojo's. It was a low point in a lot of things. Personal drama/trauma speaking here. It has nothing to do with you or the video at all really... Great review, thank you.

There are plenty of great companies putting out quality knives that aren't boxing themselves into a price category only desirable to serious knife heads like us. A couple that come to mind instantly are Work Tuff Gear and Lion Steel. Making quality knives at an affordable price for the vast majority of people is more respectable in my eyes.
