IS THIS REALLY LITHUANIA?! (Van Life on the Curonian Spit)

We were told if we are only going to do one thing in Lithuania in our van - this should be it! Our Baltics Van Life series continues as we travel to a very unique landscape. A thin strip of sand in the middle of the ocean; half owned by Lithuania, half owned by Russia; The Curonian Spit (Neringa).

Who are we? 💁🏼‍♀️
We're Tom and Iz, who live and travel in our van La Bamba. We love nature and try to spend as much time as possible wild swimming, hiking and being outdoors!
You might find Tom in the forest IDing a mushroom, fixing something or starting an ambitious project with his laid-back relaxed approach whereas you could find Isabel cooking up a storm, sunning herself on a beach and being a busy, energetic bee with her endless enthusiasm and positivity! We are total opposites but it works!
How did we end up here?! 😁 ⏮
We met 10 years ago when we were both finishing our A-levels and had a whirlwind summer romance, hitch-hiking around France together before before going our separate ways to travel and to university. We've both always prioritised travel and adventure and have worked hard over the years in hospitality jobs to enable us to keep exploring.
Tom hitch-hiked across Europe and road tripped around Australia whilst Iz studied Environmental Science at York. Iz backpacked around South America with her sister whilst Tom studied Forestry at Aberdeen University. Little did we know we just weren't going to get each other out of our minds! Fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves in campsite warden jobs, living in a bell tent in a wild flower meadow together! Maybe without realising this was the start of our van life journey!
Next, we both trained to be science teachers and during training, we bought a van, ripped out it's interior and converted it to live in it. Iz managed to get a remote work-from-home job that she could do from the van and Tom was passionate about starting up a KZread channel.
Since then we haven't looked back and when the pandemic allowed us to, we travelled to Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and around Cornwall. We are now on a big European road trip! We are giving it our best shot to do KZread full time. We have a dream of one day owning a little plot of land and building ourselves a cabin in the woods. If you're new around here you can check out our previous videos; we've spent the last year exploring Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Estonia. We completed a 42 daily vlog challenge, so check out that playlist if you missed it!
• ARE WE MAD?!
We are now making an entire lap around Europe and will be taking you along with us. We are uploading on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Subscribe and click the bell icon so you don't miss an update!
Our message on our channel is to inspire others to do what they love as life is too short! We love living simply, freely with less stuff but more time!
Thank you so much for watching! If you enjoyed this video please consider LIKING this video and SUBSCRIBING to our channel! It would help us grow our channel 🌻

That place Anglies miškas, reminds us what happens when forest is on fire. Sounds also was selected similar to forest fire. This installation was placed there because many years ago Curonian spit had a huge forest fire. Btw video is really nice.

Lithuania's an amazing place, particularly where you where, the beeches are stunning and normally nice and quiet. Notice the tasteful handmade ceramic gifts, better than a chinese made kiss me quick hat 🙂 I live next to lake Asvejas in one of the regional parks, well worth a visit if you get time. Check out Moletia as well for stunning lakes and forests if your heading that way, enjoy.

As a Lithuanian, I smiled throughout the video! And your both energy is superb! I also been living in Miami for the past decade, therefore 9 $ for two drinks sound pretty cheap.. but again depends who to compare to… 🤓 But Ferry is expensive huh, in my day it was 20litai, which would be about 8 euros lol

Damn you must be either brave or confident enough to eat those shrooms! Chandlereers (Voveraites in Lithuanian- I'm pretty sure I've butchered the name in English) is what I'm confident of, but that parasol shroom- myself, with like 30 year of foraging for shrooms experience, I'd be hesitating! Good to hear you were OK

Try the canteen, and place is called 'Viskas-Lietuviska' and is located 'Puodziu g. 3, Klaipeda 92127' . There you can find vegetarian choices and is very delicious. Don't try random restaurants, it will be expensive. Melnarage, Giruliai is worth visiting too, Palanga is more modern place, but definitely visit 'Birutes hill' in Palanga(if you can :) ), not far from Klaipeda(20 km). I am sorry if I posted twice, just ignore one of my posts. :)
