Is This Really India?! Nagaland (The Unexplored State)

I'm back in Nagaland with a good old hitchhiking video. I got directly off my flight and straight into a strangers car and took off for the big city of Kohima. Nagaland is an awesome state with so much history and culture. Join me as we meet some real Naga locals and see this Northeast Hospitality first hand.
enjoy, mike x

'Kineka ase' means 'How are you?' The ladies responded, 'Bal ase', which means 'we are doing fine'. 'Bal ase na nai' means 'Are you doing fine or not'. I don't think Nagamese has a word for Hello. Instead we directly say, Kineka ase.

I have travelled to Nagaland.. in the entire north east we are the same , like minded people. Appearances of our grandparents, their jewelleries, ,eating habits, way of living, the old hut culture. All are the same across entire north east . So, when someone visits any of our states amongst the 8 that we have now we should stick to welcoming our guest using the utterance : "welcome to north east," ..instead of welcome to Nagaland the best, Manipur the holy, Arunachal the sun/torch bearer, mary Kom manipur, chanu saikhomirabai chanu Manipur, Kiran rijiju Arunachal, my Bamboo Wallet from tripura, Christmas carols of our mozo brothers, every northeasterners common submission to the beauti of my darling shillong. We north east community is very United and rooted. I hope we stay the same.

As a Northeastern from Assam, this is a message to outside states of Northeast india. Please respect our culture like we do yours. We never spoke ill about your culture so please don't speak about ours too. Yeah we eat silkworms, pork etc. Remember people lived before by eating meat not grass. So please respect our culture. If you don't even know your own country's culture then how come you guys consider yourself an indian if you don't even know your own map... P.S - Glad you visited Nagaland bro. Also do visit other Northeastern states too. You're definitely gonna love it. Try naga thali too you're never gonna stop eating after that😊. Lots of love bro

We don't insult your culture you just have victim mentality and you your politician use state nationalism for vote bank. As far as knowing your map goes you can't expect that from uneducated population so be mindful about it. And their are animal rights group all over the world who oppose it because animals have the right to live nothing to do with your culture and against you.

I have lived in Assam for few years long time ago. I was working for OIL( Oil India Limited ) at that time. Originally I am from northernmost part of the country. Although I do believe that as a country men we all should know about each other's culture. But living in Assam has taught me that the same amount of people, who exist in other parts of India who doesn't know much about other parts, also exists in the northeast or any other part if that matters. I grew up in harsh environments, all North Indians do, so we have thick skin so we don't get worried much. Like how are you going to expect people of two opposite side of the country ( with complete different history) would know about each other. You pick up average men from any part of the country and they wouldn't be able to speak much about other places. Lastly I want to say that I had a good time in Assam.

As a South Indian, I would say never beg anyone to respect your culture. When someone mistreat they are showing their culture not yours. So be proud and stand tall. We can't correct all people in the country. Ignore dumb ones saves you lot of energy Also trust me we too have culture of eating pork, beef even one of the oldest tribes that eat Rat. It's nobodies business

Let them discover other states or cities of NE too, outsiders if know NE, know only by Assam and Guwahati, nothing else. So let them discover other places first.

Mike I really enjoyed watching this Vlog especially your hitch hiking approach and your interaction with the ladies in the streets 😂😅 Just a quick fact 'Kini ka ase' is actually how are you NOT hello, and when the locals say "bhal ase" it means "i am doing good". In nagamese Hello is Hello or Hi😂. To make more sense, You can say "Hello kinika ase?" Which means "Hello how are you?" Cheers brother 🍻 Enjoy Nagaland..its amazing!

It sounds very similar to Assamese. Kenekua aso or bhal asu is just literally Assamese.

@ Mike ... Your videos seems like it's better and more interesting then the other past youtubers who have been in Nagaland ,you're more engaged and more yourself which is great !!! Nagas are a bit shy on 1 sided but very good hearted people and very welcoming, you only have to understand their local living style a little,,, they will open up easily and help you to extend without expecting anything in return ,,so do take advantage of it 😂😂😂😂😂😂... One important other point to know is 7:40 almost all nagas understands English but won't speak much since it's not spoken locally all the time so get used to it 😂😂😂😂 🎉🎉🎉 Btw when you're here dont miss out the Hornbill Festival to understand more about the naga people ,im sure you will get more contents from it ..!

True, I can understand for other states of NE, but Assam or at least Guwahati is more explored than most of the mainland cities or states of India, it's just the stereotype or sympathy gaining line.
