    Once locked, Can the back of the van be opened from the inside without using a keyfob? I'm getting a rental that needs to be opened from the front window using an access key, but wondering if I can go in the back for an extended period without locking myself in with the auto lock function the van has after 20 mins of inactivity.

    Proace would be a great platform for solid state and solar roof around 2025 in the US. When we can get a real world 250 miles with 15 minutes of charge. When we can run the AC while parked overnight for 3 nights , run 1000w of 110v for 2 hours and still drive 30 miles with that same 15 minutes of charge. I heard they will be much cheaper to make than ICE vans soon... so when a base cargo panel EV van like this has an MSRP of under $25k USD.

  • @vanaramauk

    Tom here: Absolutely - the components of an EV van are so fewer in number than ICE. There's less moving parts. So, maintenance and repairs will be far easier. The future is less expensive in the long run.

    @@vanaramauk No doubt, but of course price too often is about what people will pay vs what cost to produce was. Brave are those in the forefront flipping the R&D cost for a competitive advantage. It will sound like sci-fi, but there is so much more at play here than R&D, materials, assembly and complexity.. at some magical point unmanned robotic automation and AI all the way through mining, recycling, assembly and testing will hopefully do more than just reduce cost to market, but will be seen in retail pricing.. sure only competition will force that hand and I'm sure that is where politicians will get their dirty little fingers in the pie with trade restrictions and such.

    I've been driving my small van for 2 years with 320w solar panel on my roof and it's great. I use the rigid panel as the roof to my custom ventilation system. The engineering of all this is custom, unique and works amazing.

    Hi, i have just received my new 72 reg proace city electric. Toyota say there are 2 usb ports, i can only see 1. Do you know where they are located?. Plus i have a rear view mirror on the windscreen, i don’t understand why as it has a sold bulkhead. It is only a reverse screen on the proace city.

    Why do the middle passenger need to bump his/her knee into the gear selector thing, when the gear selector is just an electrical switch that might as well be a couple of buttons on the steering wheel or the dash? And why does this van have a rear view mirror, when there is no rear view?

    what happens when there's no democracy in the work place. Toyota severely missed out the opportunity to put its hybrid drivetrains into their vans. But instead, they were making better profits with diesels clogging our air and kept it that way.

  • @vanaramauk

    @vanaramauk

    3 жыл бұрын

    Tom here: Nah! They're not "joining the French" they're making business decisions. Developing a new van platform from scratch is incredibly expensive, sharing and enhancing an existing platform is far more business savvy and keeps the cost down for consumers.

  • @vanaramauk

    @vanaramauk

    Tom here: I'd agree there's something of a missed opportunity there, but hybrid vehicles are really just a stepping stone. Some companies will step on that stone, others will miss it completely and go straight to electric vehicles. Toyota looks to have the second option in their sights - and good luck to them.

    In my business we have 5 hiace vans ranging from 2004 to 2011. Have never let us down. Then Toyota stop making them and partner up with Citron and Peugeot. The vans are rubbish. I know a lot of people who bought these and have endless trouble with them. I moved onto a 2021 transporter and has been in garage twice already for sensor failures Bring back the bullet proof hiace.

    Does the Toyota Electric Van use a hydrogen fuel cell battery or Lithium Battery? Volkwagen will be introducing their electric minibus powered by lithium batteries into the USA market. The billion dollar question is the hydrogen fuel cell battery been eliminated as a power source. Could Toyota be the equivalent of GE (supported alternating current) and Tesla be the equivalent of Tesla who supported direct electric current? Toyota's electric van could preferable to Volkwagen ID Buzz for Van Dwellers based on price, availability of batteries? Thank you for your help.

    Been driving electric cars and vans for a long time now. The problem for them all is the lies the manufactures tell on ‘range’. The psa group has already alienated many drivers with their poor longevity and now they are going to over sell their mileage. Only trust reviews when they tell you the real world mileage they got loaded.

    I’m in America as a mechanic I’ve been waiting for Toyota to make it all electric vehicle we have five Toyotas in our family I don’t like Chevy Ford or dodge Chrysler because they make garbage unreliable. My wife has the model three Tesla but I will not buy one because they don’t allow third-party private mechanics to work on their vehicles or give them support or sell them parts. That’s why I’m waiting for Toyota because they will support third-party and sell parts to the aftermarket repair garages And I have solar and battery bank back up that I billed myself to charge my own electric vehicle

    The main problem of This car and other which uses PSA 50kwh powetrain is rather huge power consumption compared to competition. Just use Nissan e nv200 40kw range for comparision. It is important for the user because it means longer loading Times and shorter range. To fill up 50kw batter from 230v 2.3kw you need about 21hours. You wrote 7.5h but thats clear error. If you use dc charger on the Road you also need to look for those which provider higher current. Otherwise you Will wait to charge it. There are multpliple reports of shockingly high power consumption of 30kwh with normal ride. I am sorry to inform you but it clearly see you have Little experience dealing with electric cars hence your enthusiastic review. This is a great van but poor electric auto.

    Your right he made a typo, he should of put a 6.6kw home charge, which you would get fitted with a government grant anyways through the dealership! That way you would get cheap over night electricity, which if your are doing 12k miles a year would save you about £1,000 a year ib your fuel bill.
