I love how you screamed shut up as us LOL. It came out SOOO good I want to make this!! I just knit the taylor swift cardigan for my friend (first time ever knitting a garment for someone) and I feel I was more critical and perfectionist with it because it was for someone vs. knitting for myself

Despite all of my gauge problems which were 100% self inflicted I would totally recommend making this! Definitely felt myself knit picking (lol) this more than something I'd make for me.

i loved this vlog mandy, it was so nice to see somebody else whip through a christmas knit 😂 i started a crochet cardigan for my mom but didn't have any crochet mojo, i wanted to knit, so i didn't get very far. i finished the back panel only to realize i had the complete wrong stitch count. so we frogged that, and i started the jura cardigan by trin-annelie for my mom on november 27 and had it finished in exactly 3 weeks on december 18. it was quite the feat 😂 i was trying to whip out my own in that same amount of time but it's looking like it'll take me at least an extra week, but i'll forever be able to say i knit a full sweater in 3 weeks 😂 i'm so glad you got your boyfriend's sweater done in time and managed to do so w/o telling him!

The knit and chat portion kept me company while I worked on my Oslo hat so tyvm for the content ❤

So glad it could keep you company, hope the hat turns out well!

I almost always find that superwash worsted yarn turns out to be more like a DK weight (and if you knit it on smaller needles like you would with a DK, it mitigates some of the growing/blooming that superwash likes to do when you wash it). I think it's a function of how they process the wool to give it the superwash quality, it takes away some of the loft so while it matches up length/weight wise (~100g/200yd) it comes out thinner than a worsted non-superwash yarn.

so in theory, if a pattern called for DK weight, I could go for a superwash worsted and knit as the pattern says? fascinating.

@@kendallmakesart Generally yeah! A few superwash worsted are true worsted weight, I tend to double check the comments on Ravelry. And I'd still recommend swatching! But yes, I use them almost interchangeably.

Great job on your first sweater for Austin! There are some really funny parallels between you and Austin and Doyle and I - we also met on Hinge (met December 2019, getting married in October 2023!) and I also knitted Doyle a hoodie as his first sweater from me 😊 Unlike you though, I was silly and superstitious and didn’t start making it until we got engaged, because there’s no fiancé sweater curse lol 😂 Doyle is the opposite to Austin and hates tight clothes, so we went up a size for him, and since I used superwash yarn too, it grew and now it’s too big for him. He still loves it anyway and wears it around the house as his cozy at-home sweater. His next sweater from me will be a Jiji Cardi by Knitatude using some Simply Alpaca from Knit Picks 😊 Also, thanks for watching my Vlogmas episodes! I hope you liked them ❤️
