    I own one, and was fortunate enough to get a closeup lesson of how you utilized this light during a recent Shutterfest cinematic wedding class. I also took your advice and picked the Clic OCF Adapter II. Thanks again.

    Thanks Michael, I'm also from LA and shooting in harsh conditions outdoors can be troublesome sometimes. I own two A10's and one A2 and I can't complain about the lights at all as they are there for me when I need them to be when shooting portraits on location. However, I agree that for studio headshots I think a B10 or B10+ would be ideal. I need to push the A2 with an ISO of 100-200 to eliminate the studio environment (for headshots). Using the A2 as the main key light is just not ideal (in my experience) as I need to push that light to it's max power of (10) just to get an exposure. I don't like running my lights at full power, so my next investment will definitely be a B10 or B10 Plus (waiting on a promotion or sale lol). Power is key inside a studio space. Thanks for the review, maybe I'll run into you someday out in the field! Peace Peace!

    Thanks a lot for the awesome review... Really great stuff... Does the recycling time slow down when the battery goes down to around less than 40%??? And also this has a slightly different white balance as compared to the other lights for Profoto???

    Profoto really needs something similar to the Broncolor Move, or the Godox AD1200 pro. I have seen that Profoto is actually competing in the market, unlike Broncolor. The point is not so much the power, as the recycle time, but the extra power will be great. The Profoto B10x and B10x plus share the same batter, and that is super practical, but it means the B10x recycle time is pretty low. Also sometimes one wants to have a light head.

    profoto already has that stuff since forever. Godox was new to the packs with the ad1200. the price is just extremely high for profoto but they are made for all types of situations and built to last. There was a shift to smaller and portable lights in the last 10 years that is why they dont promote that stuff

    Whats the difference between this and the AD400 or AD600?

  • @waynecoles6041

    I use godox right now (an ad200 and a V1) and just practicing with lighting (walk around location portraits mostly) Where I'm using the flash as fill or to give the impression of wrapped sunlight. However, I get less enthused about the build quality of my lights. I love them, but I find they are a bit flaky (buttons stick, sometimes the flash stops working etc). So I'm considering investing into profoto instead (I would just like them to work all the time). I was thinking of stepping lightly into profoto, perhaps with an A10 and then I can't decide between a B10X or if an A2 would be enough (I would like the option to use an umbrella or softbox, *not* trying to overpower the sun, just to get cleaner light). I'm not buying one right now, but probably in the next month or so. Its just an expensive ecosystem to commit to really, but I get frustrated by the build quality of the godox lights quite often.

    Build quality is the strong point of the profoto ecosystem. I will say godox has gotten better in the later products they have released. The ad200 is such a unique and versatile product that I am guessing still sells well for them, although it definitely needs an update on the build quality front.

    @@MichaelAnthonyphoto yeah, I love my ad200. But I get less happy with my other lights (the V1 control dial has problems 90% of the time I use it) which makes me hesitant to spend more on godox. There is some light consistency I have heard (though, not experienced) with godox lights. But I also heard the Profoto A2 (for example) has different color balance to other profoto lights too. I'm just paused in my lighting purchase as I can't decide whether to just switch to profoto or live with the (admittedly minor) issues I encounter with godox. Thanks for the video though, it was interesting to watch!

    I think its totally good to go, depending on how you use it. Through a softbox in the sun? Probably not the best choice....using the Magnum reflector, more than enough power!

    I purchased the A2 when. It first came out, but I couldn’t find a need for it in my kit. I have 4 A1’s and they have been serving me fine. They haven’t underperformed in anyway at all. I shoot volume headshots a lot with two umbrellas and the A1’s perform flawlessly. I can get F/8 at ISO 200 at a lower setting of 8.3. I have the original manufacturer of the Clic softbox (SMDV) and I’ve been rocking it with my A1’s for two years now.

    @@gregshawphotography8828 yeah I understand that. The actual output is similar between the two. The frosted cover on the a1 provides a less specular light which I find a bit better for wedding receptions because people get sweaty on the dance floor. So I typically bring 1 a1 and 3 of these with me to a wedding.

    Like everything else they make grossly overpriced. $1,000 for a hundred Watts. I just don't understand why people continue to buy these flash units at three times what you can get other comparable flash units for.

  • @MichaelAnthonyphoto

    @MichaelAnthonyphoto

    A lot of it is branding and previous investment. It's cheaper to add a $1000 flash to a $20,000 long term investment than to sell old stuff and rebuy newer lights, relearn a new system, etc. Then there are some people where the price isn't the biggest concern. Thats my take on it at least.

    I was shooting a wedding years ago with Godox strobes before they made decent lights. The 2 strobes I had stopped working and they would intermittently fail. It was a clusterfk. I said never again. Took a look at the top brands and it was either profoto or broncolor. Decided on the profoto and being running with it for 5 years with close to flawless operation.

    @@ralphgeronilla as a professional shooting a wedding I suppose I understand your point. I bought a Godox AD 200 and two Godox AD 600 Pro Godox units and a V1 and I've had absolutely no problem with them at all. Profoto has gained a reputation and it's almost like how Apple is you pay more but three times as much for a flash unit I just think that Profoto is taking serious advantages of its customers. Okay they're dependable but are they really worth three times the price of other options?

    @@dab7963 you cant judge reliability on just your experience. I had profoto and i never had problems on the go. I have worked along side godox people and they had tons of miss fires with the v1 over the years i worked with them. I am also in the godox facebook group and i see plenty of general issues. Most of of the profoto issues i see are when people drop them. So the only thing i hate about profoto is the high price becuase if i break them, they charge an arm and leg to fix their products.
