Is The Lexus RCF Track Edition a Waste of Money? - (Track) One Take
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Lexus RCF costs $67,000, and despite its nearly flawless 5.0L V8 engine, is kind of a stretch at that price, and, frankly, not much of an athlete either. This is the Track Edition, which is designed to remedy some of those issues. It's got ceramic brakes, upgraded wheels and tires, a carbon fiber hood and wing, and a stiffened suspension, saving a total o 176 lbs from the stock car's 3,900 lb heft. It also costs nearly $97,000, four large more than the absolutely stunning, unapologetic, and brilliant LC500. On the track, especially surrounded by other PCOTY entrants, it simply isn't much fun, and certainly isn't $30,000 more fun than the car on which it's based. Basically, it's Lexus's version of the M4 GTS, a car which is not good either. Save your money and get a GS-F or LC500 while Lexus still makes this phenomenal engine.

I drove both extensively on the track as my buddy has a GS-F and I have a RCF with TVD. The GS-F handles much more neutral at the limit, while both on 255 and 275 Pilot Sport 4S and both with TVD in Track Mode. The RC-F tends to under-steer quite a bit while the GS-F is really easy and balanced to throw in corners at the limit. I got the RC-F because I thought it looked better and more aggressive, but did not compare the two at the limit. The RCF is actually a lot heavier than it looks. The curb weight of the GS-F 4034lbs and my RC-F with TVD is 3968. So less than 100 lbs separates these two cars although GS-F seems a lot bigger.

And yeah the interior and ride quality may be better, but it's not good enough to take over those other cars.
All the RCF needs to handle better would be wider tires and a inch lower to compensate for the weight. I'm talking about both track edition and non track.
Track Edition also comes with Carbon Ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust and I believe lighter control arms.
Didn't this have a torsen diff instead of the standard?
What I cant ignore is how behind the car Matt's eyes are. His eyes hit the apex as he is turning towards it...makes for choppy driving and tire wear. Your eyes should be at the apex and identifying turn in with peripheral, once turn in, then apex becomes peripheral...he is WAY back from that. Hence why his driving hasn't improved in years of watching.

I remember seeing this thing at the NYAS and I thought to myself.... "It looks nice but 100k price tag? Why?"
This car needs to ditch the electric seats, use titanium exhaust and carbon ceramic discs. Use dry carbon roof, bumpers and trunk lid. That alone will shave 80-100 kg. Ditch the auto and put in 6 speed manual. Put some ITBs on those V8. Use what they learn from LFA to channel the intake roar into cabin. Tune the suspension and dial out that nasty understeer. Make 500 units and charge $110k.

Highly disagree with sentiment on the base RC-F in the description. It's a great car in the 60k range and just about the perfect daily driver. I have an RCF with the performance pack that I picked up certified for less than 50k. is a BMW (or whatever) a second or two faster around a track? Sure. do I have a naturally aspirated V8 that is balls out fun, still pulling hard at 150 with Toyota reliability and a kickass Sound system. yes I do. Seriously it is the best daily driver ever. GSF is heavier and a 4 door. Lastly, If you must have more power a supercharger kit puts 7-800 HP at you fingertips for less than 10k
