Richard, Very helpful review, and good photos to illustrate your points. I agonized over placing a pre-order the moment orders began. Personally for my use, i would have preferred Fuji add IBIS but stick with the 26 mp sensor. But given the high demand i suspect i’ll never actually find one in stock so won’t have to rethink whether to buy it. ;-)

Thank yo Craig! To be honest, I was also a bit unsure about the 40MP sensor when I was considering the XH2 last year (which is the same as the X100VI). But after using the XH2 for a while now, I think the 40MP is actually pretty good overall. I may not get the best possible low light performance but I do gain a few things so overall I think it's an upgrade.

I picked up a cheap off-brand adapter in order to attach filters instead of paying Fujifilm what they were asking. It works perfectly well. I like the camera a lot; however, I ran into a bug that is apparently an issue with several X100 models: the viewfinder is stuck on EVF mode. I was able to switch to OVF and back when I first got the camera, but after taking it out for one day, the switch just stopped working to change the viewfinder mode. Fortunately, I prefer using the EVF almost all the time, but still, I'm disappointed, and will eventually have to send it in to get serviced.

Oh sorry to hear about your viewfinder issue! Which off-brand adaptor do you use? I heard some would have a little gap when fitted on the VI. Does your have this issue?

This is a common issue unfortunately. The piece that slides up to cover the viewfinder so you can see the EVF gets stuck on my model so I’m seeing the digital display against the clear viewfinder instead. I have to turn it on and off a bunch of times before the back piece slides up or I have to give it a little bit of a smack. I’ll send this out for service eventually but still sucks since I don’t have that many shots on it.

@@TheRealRichardWong I have an update to this. If the normal level setting is turned ON, the OVF will work fine, but if the 3D version of the electronic level is on, the OVF will fail to turn on. This information DOES appear in the manual, but NOT in the OVF section; it shows up as a warning in the 3D level section of the manual, where most people will probably not think to look for it.

I wish mine would ship 😩
