This is why a nation needs both a minimum of education in its population,and a national spirit in its population thats inherantly active in politics. As a citizen of a democracy, you have to by nature have a desire and will to take part in politics. Large and small. And all citizens gave to. If you dont, what you have is a weak foundation for your democracy. This is why the usa is questionably democratic. Its citizens didnt feel the desire to take part in politics. Only to not have their lives impeded by rulers. So it became more oligarcic then drmocratic. And now its citizens feel they have no powrr, reducing their desire to take part in politics more. Switzerland meanwhile has the directest democracy because over its 800 year existance, taking part in your nation's existance was a core part of its identity. And it still is.

The fact is that democracy is flawed at its core. Most people under democracy don't even understand what their vote means, let alone voting for the best options, which often doesn't exist. This means democracy is among the most flawed political systems, along with communism and socialism. Until we let only the people who know what they are talking about decide for the rest, we will have this god damn fucking shit show that we have now.

Not to be confused with the Council of Europe, an entirely separate thing. Remember that these institutions need easily translatable titles, a different term might be harder to translate.

That will be the part where they said "Ok go away now Theresa adults are talking" after she had to beg for an extension yet again. Probably will keep happening so long as the idiot keeps trying to force brexit through while public opinion keeps shifting in the other direction due to demographic changes alone without even factoring in those that have figured out they were lied to and are honest enough to admit that to themselves.

Government should be as local as possible so that it is easier for people to keep it in check. We need decentralization not centralization. Every nation should be independent. We should even divide nations into partially independent states like in the US. If the EU was only an economic union I would be okay with it but I don't want to share my governing power with 500 million people. 66 million is too much yet alone 500 million. Also, thinking that an entire continent would like to live by the same laws is as far as you can get from the truth

Not sure if because I'm not fully sober but I watched a video about quantum mechanics yesterday that made more sense that this.

I would also add that you can find the foundations for this shitshow in any "democratic" organisation: societies, unions, etc.

that's because it's dumbed down. the MEPs deal with so much undemocratic shit. there are certain places you can't go as an MEP, information you can't access freely but under strict surveillance. and the voting system for the President is abhorrent as you can only vote "yes" or abstain.

After revisiting this video after two years I juz realised that at 0:03 there was an Adventure Time reference of Lemongrab fighting with his twin brother in the poster which the bird was holding ; honestly I can’t believe i let it slip by two years back , “this is unacceptable!!!” (insert loud lemongrab screech) ; looks like someone at Kurzgesagt watches Adventure Time , but kudos to whoever cleverly hid that reference in the starting

The Prime Minister (head of state) represents/represented the UK. The queen is mostly a figurehead and has no significant role in politics (search: "constitutional monarchy" if you're curious). Other European nations also have monarchs (kings/princes/queens) who don't directly affect politics.
