    I just got mine on Monday. It's my first synth, I've been loving it. I mostly play guitar and bass but it's been fun playing this. I just run it through my bass amp and a couple of my guitar pedals. Those pedals you've got sound incredible with this instrument.

    I’d highly recommend getting it a stereo setup. The chorus is great mono, but it’s so CREAMY when it’s got a stereo spread.

    I’ve always lusted over a Rhodes + minimoog setup… I wish I could afford a Mk8 but I never will, so my Korg SV2 is my “Rhodes”… …I plug my Poly D into the input of the SV2, and using its speakers = amazing fun! I don’t often put effects on tbh, just love the pure raw sound of it as it is. So much fun to jam with! 4th oscillator, arpeggiator, sequencer, why spend thousands of £££ on an official Moog? Get the Behringer instead 😂

    They have awful quality control. My poly d was perfect. My monopoly had a bad key bed out of the box, like totally dead. I mean the box was immaculate so I doubt it was shipping for once.

    The sequencer is an after thought and a delay would have been much more useful than the chorus. It sounds great but it’s definitely not built well enough especially the keyboard.

  • @alexwestconsulting
    @alexwestconsulting6 ай бұрын

    I mean, it sounds great but it has its issues. First, it does not sound like the Model D which isn't a problem per se, just not what some people expect. Similar, obviously. but not the same. The poly/paraphonic issue is what it is, though not something anyone with any understanding doesn't get. The biggest thing is the effects are just balls, and you have to really lower the volume to pass through them (which many people do) which gets you little of the nice saturation you end up getting when using the Model D. Anyway, I've got the MonoPoly as well, but I'd recommend the Poly D over it to almost anyone and tell them to still get the Model D as well.

    It may not sound like a model D, i wouldn’t know as i’ve never tried one… but i do have a 1974 minimoog and side by side, the poly-D is identical to my mini, and of course the poly-D can do a lot more. My mini has become pretty much redundant since i got my poly-D.

  • @alexwestconsulting

    @alexwestconsulting

    3 ай бұрын

    @@joecandy6490 that might be true. I have no vintage moog to compare with. But model d to poly d I can do, and poly d doesn’t have that same beefiness in the bass. It’s not like it’s way off though. Maybe most people wouldn’t tell the difference. But I’ve got things like sub phatty, subsequent, minitaur and model d can keep up with them in the bass.

    They don’t have many good reviews. It sounds good with the effects but supposedly there’s all kind of problems with the VCOs and bad knobs and keyboard bed is terrible supposedly. Anyway. It’s cheap enough and might be worth a look.

    I've been using (abusing) Behringer gear for more decades than I'd care to admit, including a few of their synths. Never had a single problem.

  • @joecandy6490

    I’ve seen more good reviews than bad… and the bad reviews were mostly focussed on the reviewer not appreciating the benefits of paraphony and grumbling that the synth isn’t a true polyphonic and the name poly-d was blatant misleading marketing by behringer!… Funny how no one complains about the vintage korg monopoly or poly800 or any of the many duophonic synths from yesteryear… anyway, i’ve had my poly-d for 18-months now and use it daily, no issues from build quality, and soundwise…. Well I’m fortunate to have a 1974 minimoog so i have compared them side by side, and they pretty much sound identical… except the poly-d is way more flexible and can do much more than the mini can… since getting the poly-d my minimoog has become redundant… if i could give some advice it would be to ignore those bad reviews, i’d buy another poly-d without a second thought.

    Its is a clone of the model d from moog... ive watched the comparison reviews and its so close i can't hear any difference. Its built like a tank, it has extra features than the original moog model d didnt have. I Am Not A Collector! Beringer have made a fantastic clone at an affordable price for us regular folk! I paid £550 inc VAT and Delivery! Thats about 750 dollars for our American friends, If you're a Collector and money is no object then go ahead and no problem paying up to £6k for one. Thank you behringer for making such a great analogue poly synth of metal and wood quality for an affordable price. ❤

    For me the MonoPoly was the better choice and I do think they missed an opportunity with this even though it has a lot going for it as is. The SE-02 had been out a couple of years by the time this shipped. They could have (and should have IMHO) included those voice architecture features even if it meant losing the distortion, chorus as well as just a simple arpeggiator instead of the sequencer. THAT would have taken this to another level.
