I am not a fan of Nissan as a whole but I am a fan of this truck, while most truck makers are pushing small high winding turbo charged engines, Nissan still offers a large naturally aspirated V6 and still using the same basic truck structure from 1997 and up, tried and true. That goes for Toyota and Ram dropping V8s in full size trucks that can pull 10K pounds, sack-religious. Ford still offers 1 V8 in full size trucks and GM still offers 2 while working on a new V8 for future half tons. Regardless of how well you build anything, if it has to work harder than the other (V6 vs V8) to achieve the same thing, it will NOT last as long,, so in saying that, kudos to Nissan for sticking with a tried and true engine.

Ironically the “high winding turbo engines” you speak of make most of their power down low, thus running at lower rpms. They are designed and built like Diesel engines. I have considerable seat time in GM trucks with the 5.3 V8, 6.2 V8, 3.6 V6, and now the 2.7turbo. I can tell you that the turbo engine runs lower rpms and the transmission downshifts far less than with the other engines.

It does seem almost conspiratorial. People fear and hate what they don't know. Most of the haters are not owners. Conversely, most of us ACTUAL owners like them a lot. I've had the same one for 29 years and STILL rely on it, if that says anything. 428,000 miles now. Just took it on a 10 hour road trip. I was hoping Nissan hadn't dropped the ball on the new ones, and from the info in this video, I think they've still got it. Ever seen the Million Mile Frontier on TFL truck channel? How can anyone knock that?

It was because of the bs on many KZread channels that I started my channel with the goal of being 100% fact based. Also why I don't do driving impressions or reviews. Anything that is subjective or opinion based can vary too much. Facts are facts and indisputable. Once someone knows that they can then uses those facts to see what vehicles fit thier needs and then test drive them and figure out rhe opinion based stuff for themselves without any bias. Perfect example: for 6 years the biggest complaint that hurts the ram 3500 Cummins truck is "suspension is too stiff"😂😂

The timing of this video is Excellent since many Tacoma fans are thinking of buying a new Frontier instead of the Troublesome 2024 Tacoma. Reading through the comments of many automobile channels, people would rather stay with the Japanese automakers instead of switching to General Motors or Ford or Stellantis. Seems like you can make deals with Chevy and their Colorado. Frontier already has low pricing compared to other mid-size pickup trucks. The bottom line is reliability for most.

I average 24-25 mpg in normal driving. I have an enclosed cargo trailer I pull every now and then with about 4k pounds. Pulls good but pulls mpg down to around 17 at 75mph. We have a really good Nissan dealer in Monroe, Louisiana so in about 2 1/2 years when I pass mine down to kids I'll definitely look at a Pro 4X then since selection seems to be better. I went with the 2022 SV 4X4 in Super Back. I really like driving the truck and I really like the heavy steering now that I'm used to it. It tows my bass boat very well, gets decent mpg for a 4x4, it's comfortable, and it has good tech inside like heated seats/steering wheel and comes with a traditional in dash head unit (I don't like the iPad dash most trucks have today). On the downside the stock tires on the SV trim were not good for anything but paved roads, like all 9-10 speed autos today it will hunt on occasion for the right gear, and the turning radius needs to be improved. I have zero regrets on buying this truck and plan to keep it for many years.

@@raymondabella4684 The cameras in the frontier are not known for their quality so unless you actually will offroad it then maybe not a huge loss. Led lights are easy enough to install. The only other option that fits the bill is to get a previous gen ranger. They still had them in 6ft beds and with option electronic locker. Its 2.3 is known to be reliable even though its a turbo, better camera, better infotainment system in my opinion, and you can buy a ford extended warranty online typically for less than $2k that extends out to 7 years from the date of manufacture. So is you had a 2022-23 thats still a pretty good margin. Can find those in more luxury trims like xlt /lariat I believe and since a year or two old you don't get hit with the immediate depreciation. Something to consider.

Just plain exiting the truck with either the key fob on me or in the truck and the latch engages and prevents me from opening the door. It takes several attempts to unlock it by either using the key fob if I have it in my pocket otherwise I have to enter from the front passenger and unlock it with the switch. Happens to me at least 4/5 times a day. My 2004 Maxima did the same except that vehicle the switch engaged and locked ALL doors with my baby daughter in the car and the key in the car. Another great video Jason, thank you so much for being very thorough and in depth. My 2nd choice would definitely be the Nissan Frontier Pro-4X but I am going to buy the Honda Ridgeline Black Edition, I think the Ridgeline edges out the Frontier in Quality, Reliability and Dependability. I have abandoned Toyota because of all of their issues. I have done a ton of research over the last year on all midsized trucks and settled on the Ridgeline but I believe the Frontier is another good choice despite what I have found out below. 2024 Nissan Frontier, Pros Nissan Frontier Pro-4X 1) Dana/spicer rear end 2) Dana/spicer transfer case 3) Dana/spicer one peice aluminum drive shaft 4) ZF 9G-Tronic buttery smooth transmission, the trucks ZF 9 speed transmission is made by JATCO using a Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic as the design basis. What the internet doesn't clearly tell us is how much JATCO modified the 9G-Tronic design 5) big naturally aspirated V6 6) 60:1 crawl ratio to Tacoma’s 33:1 crawl ratio 7) hydraulic power steering 8) zero gravity seats 9) MADE IN AMERICA 10) last but not least PRICE Cons Per Consumer Reports: We expect the 2024 Frontier will be less reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2022 and 2023 models, plus the Nissan brand scores. The Nissan Frontier suffers from a few common problems, which include engine issues, transmission issues, defective airbags and paint chipping. Heavy Hydraulic power steering not electronic power steering Poor turning radious No telescoping steering wheel No rear air vents Small back seat No long bed on the Pro-4X Issues with the cruise control No lane keep assist because it has hydraulic power steering Transmissions issues with the parking paul pin The rear differential leaks and service intervals every 20,000 miles The noise inside the cabin is loud compared to the Ridgeline Smaller cramped interior compared to the Ridgeline The interior seems outdated and old There is a class action suit over the paint, the class action alleges 2017-present Nissan vehicles have been coated with defective paint primer that is not durable enough to withstand the rigors of daily driving and causing paint peeling. The 23-page suit claims that the primer, a preparatory coating that allows paint to better adhere to a surface and increases durability, has caused affected vehicles to become substantially devalued. The case alleges the automaker has known for several years that the primer it uses is defective yet has not disclosed the problem to consumers and has outright refused to repair the issue free of charge.

No, people are sheep thar don't think analytically. Otherwise, the Nissan Titan would be alive and well. People gripe about big 3 QC and disappearing V8 engines, how they want a simpler, durable V8 truck instead of gimmicks and gizmos, and Nissan did it. But most folks would rather have a Tundra with "debris". Seems only contrarian thinkers look for the actual value instead of the herd mentality. Yes, the Honda fits the actual needs of many. But they feel pressured to have the high maintenance prom queen new Toyota in the driveway, because their suburban neighbors do.

I use to work for honda in service. The Ridgeline is a good truck. We would get them in all the time with 300k to over 500k miles and still running. Coming in for regular maintenance. The issue is that it is subframe. Not full frame. It tows half of what mid sized trucks tow. At least used to. Might be more but still not as much as the rest of the mid sized. It is awd and not 4x4. I hate to say it, it isn't really in the same class. That is the issue. For someone needing awd and doesnt need 4x4 and jist needs a small bed or tows light, ridgeline is great. However, must of us want full frsme, more towing, 4x4 systems. That is why i never owned one. I always respected them though. I will say the first gen was ehh on looks. This latest gen they look pretty good.

I had expected positive reports, but this is actually better than I thought. Turns out tbat "old" platform is tried and true. How will the "Nissan is garbage" boys argue with raw numbers? I was at the dealer on the 4th being tempted by a SV LWB. Don't like the wheelbase, but the full bed is a plus for me unless I want to drag a trailer around. At the Toyota store next door, there were quite a few Tacomas, and TONS of Tundras. There were only 4 Frontiers and 3 Titans. They sold all their Pro-4x Frontiers. They were even out of Frontier brochures. Oddly, the Nissan salesman was totally unaware of the Toyota recall.

I don't care what anyone says. The new Frontiers ARE NOT the old ones. Nissan is a different company now and their quality has suffered. They build their cars to go about 130,000 miles. Maybe their trucks are built to last longer, but I doubt it.

I'm blessed to own a few vehicles, two Toyota cars and one Nissan truck. Although I'm a Yota fan hands down Nissan builds robust trucks. Nissan produced the D40 for almost 14 years but it wasn't popular because it was viewed as ugly and outdated. Now with most auto makers going to turbo 4cyl, ugly and outdated is getting viewed as dependable and simple. If Nissan can keep up what they've been doing then in time they will come out on top. IMHO if you change your fluids on time and add a diff breather the current generation Frontier will out last the new Tacoma.

I have no regrets leaving toyota for the nissan frontier. If i picked a different truck it would have been the big brother, the titan. Im with you on that interior review someone complained about.
