The midsize SUV segment is about finding a balance between space, comfort, features, and pricing. However, the most important feature of all is space. As a result, more automakers in this segment offer more occupant space, more luggage space, and the ability to carry five passengers comfortably. The new Grand Vitara has to face off against cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Tiguan, and even the Kia Sonet.
When it comes to dimensions, the 2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara has a higher advantage than most cars in this segment. The Grand Vitara is said to have a length of 4325 mm, a width of 1795 mm, and a height of 1645 mm. This great SUV also comes with a wheelbase that is about 2600 mm long. If you compare this with the Hyundai Venue, the latter has a length of 3995 mm, a width of 1770 mm, and a height of 1617 mm. It also comes with a wheelbase of about 2500 mm. So, in terms of dimensions, the Grand Vitara is significantly larger than the Hyundai Venue. This simply means the Grand Vitara has a stronger road presence than the Venue.
However, this is one of the cars that is smaller than the Grand Vitara. The Kia Sonet is also smaller than the Grand Vitara. It measures about 3995 mm long, 1790 mm wide, and 1642 mm tall. The Sonet also comes with a wheelbase of about 2500 mm.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is where things switch up a bit. This is because the Hyryder has a length of 4365 mm, a width of 1795 mm, and a height of 1635 mm. The Hyryder also comes with a 2600-mm wheelbase. Therefore, the Hyryder is 40 mm longer than the Grand Vitara. This may be translated as having more space inside and more legroom in the back. But since these two cars are built on a shared platform, we can say that they offer a similar road experience.
However, there are cars that are larger than the Grand Vitara, one of them being the Mahindra Marazzo. The Marazzo measures about 4585 mm long, 1866 mm wide, and 1774 mm tall. It also comes with a wheelbase that is 2760 mm long. This is considerably larger than the 2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara.
We have seen that the Grand Vitara holds up quite well in dimensions, being larger than some of its top competitors. But does this continue for the engine?
There are two petrol engine options for the 2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The first is a 1.5-liter mild hybrid petrol engine, and the second is a 1.5-liter hybrid petrol engine. The 1.5-liter mild hybrid is paired with a 4-speed manual and a 6-speed TC automatic transmission. However, the hybrid petrol engine is available with an eCVT automatic transmission. The mild hybrid version of the Grand Vitara is capable of producing about 103 PS of power when it is moving at 6000 revs per minute. Not only that, but it is also capable of producing about 137 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. As for the hybrid engine, it can push up to 116 PS of power at 5500 rpm and 141 Nm of combined torque with the electric motor.
Suzuki was left with a gap in the market after the Vitara was discontinued. And now, with the Grand Vitara, we can say that they are now way better than before. The Grand Vitara is an upgrade of the Vitara, and it has definitely left the whole market scared. The Grand Vitara has changed the whole perspective in the segment, bringing better to the market. And now, its competitors have to ensure they do whatever it takes to keep up.
