Is the 2022 Ford Explorer ST a BETTER performance SUV than an Audi SQ7?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Explorer ST is a Ford Performance vehicle. On the outside of this midsize SUV you will find a unique grill, 21in wheels, red brake calipers and quad-exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather interior, 3-row seating, and portrait style infotainment system screen. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 pumping out 400 HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2022 Ford Explorer ST a BETTER performance SUV than a BMW X5?

You are absolutely right. It happens to me lol I got a Black Sport: with a roof rack, and tinting throughout,,....and people always slow down whenever I am behind them. LOL - You should see how proper everyone becomes while driving, making proper stops, signalling and turning perfectly into the lanes. lol Even my neighbour gets confused at times. Is hilarious.

I have a 2020 and couldn't be happier. Already put a Borla Atak exhaust and a ZFG tune and now i have 450 HP what a beast.
Joe, Another great review, The part when you were explaining that the exhaust are fake had me cracking up, oh and the gap in the infotainment lol. But the funniest park was @24:31 corner of joe eyes as he sees highway patrol and slows down had me dying cause he kept going with the video.

Great stuff Joe. Love the Explorer. I agree with you on the infotainment system. Should be landscape. Give me a King Ranch though. Thanks for bringing it to us.
If anyone is heavily considering this vehicle, then I have to give my 1000% recommendation. I have the 2022 ST in all black and not only is it a remarkably gorgeous vehicle, it also happens to be exceptionally livable. The interior is unbelievably comfortable and with a few (~$350) of additional purchases, I really was able to take the interior cabin to newer levels of presentation. I've gone on several long trips and and thus far have no regrets (other than maybe not getting one with the moonroof - though it was REALLY hard to find one available in black). If anyone has specific ownership questions I'd be happy to answer.

Awesome information. I'm thinking about getting one. Is the third row functionable? I have two toddlers, 2 year old and 4 year old boys. My wife wants a minivan but they are literally priced almost just as much as this bad boy and I'm trying to talk her in this vs a minivan. Minivans are on a shortage and also way overpriced. For the money I rather have something fun like this Fast SUV.

@@Alwaysbeclosing1774 Hey Gregory, The third row is actually quite functional indeed; it's really only once you start trying to squeeze full grown adults back there that you end up with some potential complications. AND on top of that, you can always get this vehicle with a bench second row (which is what I have as well as what is in the video). I LOVE the bench and wouldn't ever consider captain's chairs.

I bought in May of 21 a new 2021 Carbonized Gray ST with the Panoramic moon roof and roof rack delete. Performance brake and 21" wheel package as well. 21's did not offer the rear middle center seat but mine has the digital controls for the back seat passengers and a center console mounted on the floor between the seats. I went with a ZFG 93 octane tune and FV intercooler, Turbosmart BOV and JLT catch can. Looking at H&R springs and wheel spacers next. After 21k miles it has run like a top with zero issues. I do have the dreaded 3 bolt rear end carrier though so that may need to be addressed by Ford in the future.
I recommend this Explorer with some upgrades. I would also recommend the Borla catback Atak exhaust to give it that beautiful exhaust sound. I just bought my ST this summer in all black and love it. 👍

Great video! It was fun comparing this ST to my wife's 2020 XLT. I agree with you in that portrait screen, hers is landscape not sure what size but big enough for me and that gives you a second little cubby that's perfect for a cell phone (though I did launch my phone into the shift dial once and knocked it into neutral while trying to merge into traffic, that was pretty scary). I wonder why the mid seat ac controls are deleted on the higher model. Hers has them and a sunroof too! What I wish hers had is the memory settings on the power seats. I'm a foot taller than her and whenever I drive I have to move the seat back before I get in otherwise I can't get my knees in 🤣 hers also only has manual 3rd row folding instead of the one touch power but that's not too big of a deal

As for the 3rd row, my older son loves hanging out back there to get away from his little brother but to each their own. Great review as always Rati! My is black on black. 60k. After one year the cubby hole compartment at the top near the headliner broke. The lumbar bag deflated on that driver side and brakes squeak. From Car and Driver: Ford confirmed what we suspected all along: That it's a move to prevent soot buildup on the exhaust outlets. Modern direct-injection gasoline engines tend to gunk up their exhaust outlets with black soot, like a thick layer of brake dust. This is why many modern vehicles wear fake exhausts. Looked at an Explorer ST and ended up with a Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve. Like the look of the ST but a few things were a problem, worthy of zonks. Big slow touchscreen, vertically mounted. Build quality was absolutely brutal, very loosely put together, severely underbraked, and dated UI. Also, you have to deal with Ford dealerships which where I live (western Canada) are absolutely brutal.
