I’ve also seen BMW’s with 110,000kms and service intervals every 7000-8000kms shit themselves. Engineering makes a big difference, and maintenance isn’t everything.

I live in Atlanta and I’m ngl I went when I thought it’d be less crowded and there were still so many people. But those people trained to be efficient. They moved that line fast asf. I think it was only like 30 minutes

Don't forget the tax you'll pay the DMV. And if you do this more than twice a year you'll get flagged by the DMV and IRS as a car dealer and you'll need a license. These shorts always make it look like the easiest thing in the world.

5 times a year in my state. But I can also do it 5 times in my wife’s name. So we get 10 a year. Works out about perfect because I try to do one a month or so. It’s a nice little side hustle but gotten a lot harder in the past few years. No more $500 cars for sale

It's really easy, you just have to have the money when you see a deal. Been doing it since I was 16 or so, buy a decent car for 1000 put any parts it needs, clean it and sell it for 4000-5000. I made a bunch in a summer, loads of taxes but it definitely helps if someone you know has a dealers license and they help you

In most states you can only sell a certain amount of vehicles in a year without a dealers license

In most states you cannot buy any vehicles with the intent to resell them. The laws allow you to sell a certain number of personal-use vehicles every year, but if you acquired it to resell, even one vehicle, you need a license.

It’s 5 in Illinois. All you have to do is keep the title open. Don’t register the car. Sell it under the last owners name. That’s how you get around it.

This is why you always have a car inspected personally before buying it through a private sale; even if you don't have a buddy that will do it for free, the money you spend on having someone check it out will be nothing in comparison to the repair bills and hassle you're liable to face if you choose to not do your due diligence. Totally worth the extra few bucks to convince someone who knows what they're doing to take a look before finalizing any deal.

My friends are mechanics and do this, and even they have gotten bit on deals before, put a used engine in the car and still had issues that would not go away, put another engine in the car and had the same issues. Sometimes cars are cheap because although they may run, have deeper issues that may be very hard to diagnose. That being said they've made some money on selling cars too.

That's why it's good do have a decent level of mechanical knowledge if you plan to do this, you need to inspect the car thoroughly. Sometimes people just want a quick sale and will not bother to clean the car, doesn't necessarily mean the car is bad. Or they could have personal reasons for wanting a quick sale at a lower price. And obviously you should buy a car knowing that you might at have to put an additional $1k - $2k into it in order to flip it. This should be factored into the initial purchase price

I STRONGLY recommend not doing this if you know very little about cars. People reset computers and do a million little things to trick you. Besides the legit stuff that's already bad. I've looked at 6-7 cars in a row before that needed 2k worth of work or more that wasn't described in the listing. Also different states have different amount of cars you can buy/resell. If you want to do more than you have to skip titles, use different ppl names, or get a dealers license. Also not everywhere in conducive to selling the cars locally.
