Redbull has the vertical inlet to have a bigger undercut. Elliott had the vertical inlet to have no sidepod and with that no undercut, pretty significant difference.

This isn't even close to w14 concept. They didn't have a prominent sidepod unlike the new Redbull.. only similarity is the sidepod inlet shape and nothing else.. failed concept is when they make work the no sidepod concept of the w13.

Well the issue is that if you don’t change your winning car, by next year everyone is going to have taken inspiration from your winning car. Potentially (partially) nullifying your advantage. That is one of the key factos to Formula One. Remember as charismatic as they can be, formula one is really about the cars and the constant war to make them better and better.

Seeing as though they are mortal enemies, it seems fitting that they would make fun of a concept that didn't win a race at all last year. I'm pretty sure that the car that comes out of testing will be something totally different.

they were testing in silverstone earlier this week, from the photos at the track it looks to be the same car. I don't think they'd waste essential data before the season has started just to toy with a team that isn't close to them

We already know Mercs problem was a horrendous floor and didnt know how to fix without undoing their zero-pod design. It was NEVER the body but what's underneath

Monaco last year was the big moment, both Merc and RB had their floors completely revealed via crane to everyone and MANY pictures are taken. Unless RB have reinvented physics, their floor is the key component still

There was a thing going around last year about "what if Red Bull switched to zero side pods like Mercedes but then kept on winning everything"... this isn't quite that far... BUT STILL.

They either are gonna win easily or fall apart with this

Given that RBs primary focus was on the suspension and managing the car, they probably have a decent amount of room too go elsewhere. We may find that other teams weren't on the wrong track for down force, but that their suspension many it failed to work

@@stevenmaschek7554 "as long as it's OK" was kind of the point. Merc, and others, have had poor suspension/chassis set ups (I don't necessarily mean the arrangement, more the effectiveness)

I swear I made a comment, when we realised mercs are flopping with the zero pods… I said Adrian newey and red bull knew they was onto something, they was just waiting to see if mercs could crack it… now red bull have taken elements of their flopped concept… how crazy f1. Prediction that red bull are 1 to 1.5 clear of pack of last seasons car concept 😂

I believe that McLaren shares some more things in common with the 2024 Redbull rather than the 2023 one

I feel like maybe Mercedes tried to run before they learned to walk whereas Redbull started out with a conservative design in 2022 and evolved the design to the point where they could implement a more complex/radical design. If it is a homerun for Redbull, Mercedes will be kicking themselves. I actually remember Christian Horner saying that he was really suprised by Mercedes zero-sidepods in 2022 saying something along the lines of them introducing it too early in the then new aerodynamics regulations. It's all very interesting

If this works it's literally just showing off. "You guys had the right idea, let us show you how's it done"

There was a reason Newey spent so much time walking around the W14 in Bahrain last year. So many people were saying , "Oh, this means Toto us trying to steal him away from RB." i was like, "No, he understands there were some great portions on the zero-pod design and was going to try to incorporate them into a RB"

It's carcinisation. Both RB and Mercedes started at different ends. one with stability aero vs zero sidepod aero efficiency. they slowly converge into each other from other ends for the perfect performance compromise mix. Just like how crabs evolved!

It’s quite genius if you think about it. I’m sure there was only so much more that could’ve been done to the RB19, so continuing w the design would yield only marginally better results. Additionally, they knew everyone would copy last year’s car, so they were radically different
