Mexico has lots of locations. Being on the beach surrounded by tourists and expats will increase the costs. The more Spanish you know the more options you have. Interesting video. Maybe you can follow up in another year.

That certainly includes singing with the Crossroads choir and the Gay Men's Chorus and even doing some solos! Heya ! my friends moved north of Puerto Vallarta..they bought a house and just settled in..no I’m interested in moving there..I’ve travelled all over Costa Rica and love it there.. but prices are ridiculous now…good for you pal good info 🎉🎉

I recommend Morelia, Michoacán. One of the most if no the most Beautiful city in Mexico, affordable, great weather, much similar to Querétaro but not as big so you won't have to deal with the traffic as much.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most expensive cities in Mexico to live in for sure. But that’s also where the highest paying jobs are if you’re in hospitality There are far more affordable places on the beach to live in. Like Mazatlán

I am currently looking for an apt. to rent. I am working with a realtor. No luck yet as I know it is the tourist season. I will return in April and hope to find a place. Thank you for a very personal tour. My wife and I have been coming down to Mexico since 1995 and to PV since 1997. It’s much busier but still very special with great food and people.

I found a realtor here, and then your video came up. I'm wondering if we should rent first, although Puerto Vallarta seems ideal. We love the idea of not being far from Mexico City. But living in a laid back neighborhood.

Hi Stephen, congrats on your assesment in general. I agree on every point. Including that PV has grown way too expensive for being so touristy, especially in that zone where you are staying. Except for doctors at 40 pesos and buses at 10. Ha Ha. A gay couple of my friends spent 2 winters here in that area before deciding to try the Guadalajara scene where they were swept off their feet by the low-cost of living, tranquillity, and the high level of education of the mates they would encounter in the cafés, library, gym, etc. They are going to spend the whole of the coming year there, since they are so thrilled. Even sold their belongings in Québec! I wish you the best in years to come.

What a thoughtful man! I really appreciate this video for many reasons. It is possible to see many opportunities after listening to him, as he explores what he will eventually do about calling a Mexican location his home.... It might be PV... or as he explores other places I think he might find another location that meets his needs. This really started me thinking of my own journey and how staying OPEN to options can really make life more interesting !!! Thank you for bringing this terrific video for all of us to enjoy!!

Can you get permanent residency in Mexico and still earn USD if you own a company in the U.S.? I keep seeing mixed answers when I google this.

Yes of course- many people do this. They own a company back home or work for a company remote while getting perm residency

Thank you for the video… And your honesty. I want to live close to what’s going on in the gay community but I do have three little dogs and a cat. I’m wondering if that will be a difficult process to find a place. I am 64 and retired $1200 would probably be my limit. Did you see any casa’s with yards or patios in that price range?

$1200 a month for rent or for total living expenses. If that’s your rental budget, yes you’d be able to find something in Puerto Vallarta. If that’s your total living budget probably not. It all depends where you want to live. But also depends if that’s only you’re rental budget or total budget

It's certainly cheaper, with more actual freedom, and a lot less regulation. As far as being safe, avoid the border, follow the Mexican laws, and if you don't look for trouble, you'll be fine. Mexico is a very large country, explore it and enjoy!

Sounds like an upgrade, Ryan! I would love to move to Toronto, especially since it's so LGBT friendly..but the house prices are just insane. But a rural home in the woods with privacy and land..with Bigfoot as my only neighbor sounds awesome..lol. Did you build a home or buy one already there? And can you recommend an area to look at? Thanks! 😉

Keto wouldn't be the food served in restaurants in Mexico. I am Keto also, interesting video, I am Australian and believed that PV would be more expensive than I want to spend, especially with the price of the Australian dollar, I want to be closer to the US, perhaps La Paz on the Baja. Don't drink either because of Keto,I think that I will definitely have to cook at home. All that talk about cartels is just American brainwashing, like many things in the US, about other countries.

You can afford to live anywhere in Mexico as long as you live like a local. Meaning not renting a place with a magnificent ocean view. That’ll cost more

@@angelaoliver7776 Just wanted to let you know as a Mexican that Keto food is indeed served in Mexican restaurants regularly. However, what that means is you tell the waiter what to leave out and what to include. You simply avoid the carbs yourself. Which is incredibly easy to do with authentic (not the gringo stereotyped) Mexican food because they emphasize meat, chicken and fish as the primary entree..along with keto friendly vegetables. Yes..rice, beans and corn tortillas are usually available (though flour tortillas not always because they are not authentically Mexican but a European invention)..but it's the meat, chicken and fish that are the heart of Mexican cuisine. Along with many spices and sauces that are keto friendly. This is why Mexican's who eat a traditional diet are rarely as obese as foreigners. Safe travels.

I did not like the ATM's that provide dollars instead of pesos. Ridiculous, it is Mexico and for every 10 ATM's 8 were for American dollars, so of course the normal atm's had insane lines ups. Also the government urges to control the taxi vs uber rates. A taxi driver would ask for $900 then you call an Uber and will charge you $300 for the same distance ( this happened to me when trying to take a taxi from Mismaloya to the Airport) Since I speak both languages the Taxi driver was not happy, he knew I knew he was scamming me, so when I called an Uber he left me, Uber was better, did not scam me, was polite. For people that do not speak Spanish, you guys are making it horrible for Mexicans, locals, and tourist from other countries, that taxi driver saw me as an inconvenience when he noticed my Spanish......he probably prefers immigrants that don't speak or question anything. Also the term " expat" appalling....you guys are immigrants

For Mexico it sounds expensive.

@@MexicoRelocationGuide Well, earlier this year I spent a few weeks in Guadalajara and especially in Ajijic on Lake Chapala, Prices seem 1/3 or nearly 1/2 less there. True, it is inland and a much smaller place, but it is popular with Gringos and also LGBT+ people. English is widely spoken and it has a great restaurant scene. A retiree can live there on only $2000 a month.

Majority of the beautiful people of Mexico do not approve or accept such. They love their church, family and children. This same thing happened to Hawaii about 39 years ago. JMO.

Let me educate you on what MY people..the people of Mexico..are REALLY like: 1. Puerto Vallarta IS the LGBT+ capitol of Mexico. The wonderful gentleman in this video doesn't need to advertise that..because the Govt of Mexico does it. Every year during the PRIDE event even the PV police officers are dressed up in rainbow colors and participate in LGBT+ events. They are publicly committed to protecting the LGBT+ community and are PROUD of doing so. 2. For your information: LGBT+ people go to church too. LGBT+ people have families too. And LGBT+ people have children too. In other words..the LGBT+ community is just like everyone else and deserves the same amount of love and respect as everyone else. Love and Respect of all people is a traditional Mexican value. This is why Mexico is a top tourist destination for the LGBT+ community. The Ignorance, Prejudice and Homophobia you are displaying is NOT a Mexican value. 3. Every country has horrible people who hate others because of their sexuality. This ignorance exists everywhere. But Mexico on the whole is very respectful and tolerant of the LGBT+ community. And this is because LGBT+ people were part of and were respected by the Aztecs, Mayas and other indigenous cultures of Mexico. So don't tarnish my people's heritage by claiming they don't respect the LGBT+ community..because the vast majority of them do and believe in leaving people alone and minding their own business. 4. On Hawaii: Same-sex relationships have been part of Hawaiian culture for centuries. The term aikāne refers to homosexual or bisexual relationships, which were widely accepted in pre-colonial Hawaiian society, and the term māhū refers to a "third gender" alongside male and female. Go back into your hole and stop spreading hate, Bitterness.

Don’t understand why you wasted a realtors time looking for properties out of your price range ? , especially being in the business as you say you are . I’ve been licensed 22 years and I know for a fact I would never show a ton of properties to someone who didn’t have the cash , or wasn’t qualified . Agents own fault if they didn’t go over pricing with you , free tour for you though 🤷‍♂️.

He rented a place. Why would it be a realtors wasted time if the realtor is offering to show you places. There should be no obligation to rent something just because someone put human hours into helping you I disagree. He has the budget - not sure where you got that he didn’t? He was simply stating it’s not as inexpensive as he thought it would be

@@This_da_life I own a very successful realty company dealing with high-end properties..and also do business in MX..and YOU are exactly the type of agent I would NEVER hire and which makes ALL agents look bad. Listen and learn, son: 1. The gentleman in the video stated he rented an apartment that was above his budget. So he already has proven that people will make the money appear if they REALLY want a property. Happens all the time. They liquidate assets..tap pension plans..get loans..sell cars, jewelry, fine art, etc. If someone REALLY wants a property they will do WHATEVER it takes to get it..EVEN if it's above their "budget" because "budgets" are usually malleable..and not set in stone. 2. Word of mouth is one of the greatest assets an agent has. That overpriced home may not be affordable to your client..but there is a good chance they have friends and family who CAN afford it and they will pass your information to them. 3. Agents like you get a bad reputation VERY quickly. Nobody wants to work with someone with such a bad attitude like yours..and people like me certainly don't want to hire them either. Selling real estate is as much about gaining someone's confidence and trust as it is about showing homes. And people will always want to see homes below and above their budget just for the sake of comparison shopping. And yes..sometimes also for entertainment. If you can't deal with that because your time is so frigging precious then go find something else to do because you're making all the good agents look like jerks. The end.
