Is Occupational Therapy School Worth It? | Healthcare Career Comparisons

Interested in becoming an occupational therapist? This video covers some commonly asked questions about OT school as well as insights into the career from my experience working as an occupational therapist.
While only you can decide and answer the question of whether occupational therapy is the career for you, I hope this video provides you with some thoughts to help guide you in the right direction - whether its to pursue OT, another healthcare profession, to wait a little bit, or to look into something else entirely.

One thing to clarify is those who already graduated or are practicing after the mandate will be "grandfathered" and will be allowed to continue to practice. You will not need to go back to school.

This video was really helpful! In the USA, is the requirement to become an OT a bachelors in any field and a Masters in OT? Or a bachelors in OT and a Masters in OT? I'm Australian so just curious about the US requirements. Thank you so much!

I’m not an OT student yet, but in the US (or at least California) you can have a bachelors in any degree, doesn’t even have to be related to the field, and a masters in OT for entry level. But this is the first I’ve heard of a mandate requiring a doctorate so now I’m kinda struggling with my schooling choices 🥲
