Is Nylander’s late-season performance concerning for Leafs?

Спорт

Face it men, the formula in TO is celebrity players. The rink is full every game, the players are subjects for every podcast and sports caster in the business. Winning a Cup would be icing on the cake, but the cake is very good as it is. So that is the root TML (Rogers) has chosen. You can give a player top money but if doesn't hate to lose with a passion, the money is there after the first round or the third, he has a bigger monthly than the loser bonus. Billy Bystander is a sniper, places where it hurts, he stays clear. Wendel Clarke and Doug Gilmore they hated to lose.

Just play the trap like Montreal did vs leafs in game 7. You can't play wide open in the playoffs. Someone tell Willy the series start Sat night. He looks floating on the ice.

I didn’t think it was a very good idea to just try to feed Matthews the puck every other shift .Tfhat kind of screwed up those last two games or the mentality of the team in the last two games. I hope they can get over it going into Boston because Boston Probably is way more structured than Toronto is. I mean Toronto is frail in the first place. Their either awesome or they’re terrible. Hope they can turn it on.

typical William Melander. Prior to the new contract, he was unstoppable - he was on pace to score 120 pts - in February. He was playing with a determination that nobody was going to stop him. After the contract was signed... back to same old lackadaisical play. Zero pushback in his game. I'm happy he didn't get to 100 points. He doesn't deserve it. He and Marner haven't got what it takes to lead a team in the playoffs - unfortunately for the Leafs, they are paid like they can and have. There's no more cap space left for the true playoff performers - this is why the leafs will never go beyond round 2 with this core 4.

Did the leafs blow the last 4 games so they could get to the Bruins? Maybe it is their year! Gotta hit and stay out of the penalty box, oh and score big!! They know they can do it. Hoping this is the year> Go leafs go

The leafs can’t get drunk on their own talent, guys have to be very patient, play defence first. I’m not really sure that they know how to do that because when they see an opportunity, sometimes they go overboard and expose themselves defensively and with the leafs that always seems they make one mistake in their own end and 2 seconds later it’s in the net, it’s just crazy. how about that pass from Todd Bertuzzi, that blind behind the back in his own zone drop pass. and then Tampa scores like a second and a half later in the last game of the year was ridiculous. These types of moves are suicidal and not even professional.. if they could stop this stupidity that would be fantastic. I think every leaf fan would just love to see a defensively responsible team ,win or lose we would be happy if they could improve their game and show that they can be in every game that would be enough .That would win them hockey series. Go Leafs…this is it!

That being said, he was the guy who scored that beautiful tricky goal to knock off Tampa last year to give them their first playoff win since 2004. And you say he’s not clutch we’ll see about that..

Time to place the spotlight on the Leafs Executives. The $50 Million Leaf Core 4 with four $11 Million forwards who have zero playoff runs between them are the common denominator of years of Leaf playoff disappointments. 😀 Time to hold Leaf Executives accountable for building a poorly designed Core 4 with unbalanced structure. Change out all Leaf Executives if the zero playoff runs continue.

What will happen against the Bruins. Boston will Center out one of the many Leaf weak links and one will be William Bystander. They’ll hit him every chance they get because they “Know” he’ll melt away. Besides, the last 10 games or so Bystander’s been tripping over his bottom lip cause he’s not on the important lines. Keefe wanted him to drive his own line but that hasn’t worked. As for the Bruins, Pasta is a great player but he’s Not the alpha dog. It’s Marchand. If he’s allowed to be the pest, Leafs are toast.

No, it's not. Nylander's career-long performance, is what is concerning. Do people not remember this guy avoiding corners like Superman to kryptonite in playoffs prior? I mean, come on, he might knock a hair out of place, or chip a nail or something. No, he's not the $11.5M golden boy saviour you all thought he was, and you're about to learn the hard way, just how much Treliving rammed this franchise up the 🍑, come first round here. Why would you hire the guy that left Calgary in the shape it's in, to run this team? Why.................? Also, fire Shanahan already. What is taking you so long? Why can regular, average people see the problem with this franchise, while it continues to bask in the aroma of its own farts?

I’m definitely not a Toronto fan but I’m sure Nylander will turn up his game in the playoffs wasn’t he the only one last year of the core four as they say in Toronto that actually showed up in the playoffs. It’s disgusting that he basically didn’t give a crap in the last 10 games …come on man this is the nhl you should be honoured to play in this league I get it you don’t have to go all out when you’ve made the playoffs but at least show a bit of respect to the league. Maybe he was sulking cause all the attention was to get the darling Matthew’s his 70 goals.

he should of been benched after Tampa's 5th goal. I've never seen a player give up on a play like that. which lead to the 5th goal by tampa

  • @harryposner7584

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the reason that he didn't touch the puck because it would have been off-side? So, he peeled away to get to the bench for a change. I know that the optics looks bad, especially because the rest of the leafs on the ice stood around and watched that long pass for the breakaway goal hit its mark. I think Willy will show up and be a factor in this series, just as he was the Leaf's best player in last year's playoffs.
