It was not the most fruitful debate.

I cannot believe how a journalist from a channel run by a dictatorial monarchy is questioning a thoroughly functioning democracy.

That's what you don't understand Qatar is a monarchy, so it's already known it won't have secular and liberal values. But on other hand India is a democracy as per it's constitution, so it has to behave according to it. That's why India is questioned. Qatar doesn't have a democracy, so why would anybody question them on deteriorating democracy. So if India doesn't want to be questioned on it's democracy, then it should just change it's governing system to a monarchy or an autocratic setup like China.

How much you were worried with the rise of Military Governments in Pakistan, Syria, Somalia, and many other countries? How much you were worried when UBL was found in Pakistan? Whom are you covering and Al Jazeera?

Beautifully handled and precisely answered by Dr Tharoor. Mehdi should invite J Sai Deepak for an interview. That interview would be something to look forward to.

I was born to a hindu-muslim family (my pops is hindu and my mom is muslim) I was brought up with both religions both of them are beautiful in terms of ideals, culture, practices, satire, songs etc. Though Hindu Nationalism has been on a growth, it has not been without rhyme or reason, It mainly has to do with the growing violent terrorism of the bad apples of the islamic world, mainly the growth of ISIS and Al Qaeda, If such groups would not have been funded by countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the world would have been a better place.

It will never work in the Arab world, reason being, more problematic and religious extremists would try to take power in their hands, it’s how ISIs came to power after Saddam .. Notice that at 11:05 onwards he does go quiet, when he asked about his wife's death, being investigated for murder. He does go quiet when it's to _his_ advantage, and silences the interviewee only when he senses that the other person is gaining the upper hand in what is usually an adversarial type of interview.

Some indians are intolerant but most of them are more tolerant in comparison to other countries. I hope from now India and Sri Lanka can be best friends going forward and we forget the past. Lot's of mistakes by both sides, but now we should stop meddling in each other's internal affairs and I look forward to India's prosperous future. Love from SL

Look into the relationship between Mexico and the United States. That will be the relationship between India and Sri Lanka. Don't have dreams of parity with an India that is 65 times Sri Lanka's size, a la Pakistan and things will be great for Sri Lanka. Being on the doorstep of the future largest market in the world is surely a great place to be, if Sri Lanka takes advantage of that. Take an adversarial approach, like Pakistan did, and things won't be good for Sri Lanka. This isn't intended as a threat at all, just pointing out facts. Now, common people, you and I included, would opt for the former approach, no doubt. But in the end, it will be up to Sri Lanka's leaders, what approach it actually ends up taking.

I wish the Sri Lankan people the very best in these trying times. But there can be no full rapprochement between our governments until the SL government and the Wickremesinghe Rajapaksa cabal answer for their crimes against the Tamil people

And on Kashmir- 'It is not possible to understand Kashmir sitting in a cold-room and showing some-papers and asking questions " why not have outside interference ?".... ( ans - look in middle east now )

That interview was about wether Islam is a religion of peace or not. Richard Dawkins was a well know bigot Islamophobe and the fact that you referred to that interview tells me a lot about your views on Islam. India is the land of my grand parents and since I love them I have respect for India and I have many times fought with my fellow country men defending India. Please do not give me reason to believe India has become an intolerant bigoted country. If you do not like for someone to have that view of your country you should be careful of what you say.

I think its fare to question him because he is representative, public figure and diplomats - if he is not ask than whom should be asked. Thats the reason why one needs to be critical of such personality who is being giving all the possible position to protect peoples right and develop better environment for the people living in the country whom he represents.

The interviewer is more of machine than human.....

One can easily see how intolerant our (internet) society is becoming by seeing all these comments. This is a news channel doing a news broadcast, you can be skeptics of the content but don't write just nonsense
