I just love it when they bring guests to attractions that aren't as beloved as your Pirates or Haunted Mansions and they defend it so hard to the point of almost delusion. It's so fun.

I gotta say, Dallon hit the nail on the head when he said it is a ride that Walt would’ve made and enjoyed. That may be what Disney is missing.

I don't have an attachment to this ride, so i have no skin in whether or not this passes or fails. However, I disagree with failing it on innovation. A crucial innovation of this ride was overlooked in the discussion: it pushes sustainable food sourcing for theme parks forward. Theme parks use up a lot of energy and tend to be not great for the environment. By introducing an attraction that both sustainably provides food for the park ( cutting out the pollution created by transporting food to the park on ships and trucks) AND has the potential to reduce the park's carbon footprint by planting crops that would absorb some carbon emissions - it seems like this attraction is a huge step forward into a future where sustainable and environmentally conscious practices are standard in park operations. its not the most exciting innovation in terms of fancy ride technology, but i would argue that its potentially a massive innovation in terms of park management and logistics.

I don't know how to really describe it, but I feel like Living with the Land perfectly captures what Epcot is about. It's my favorite ride there. I go annually for food and wine and after getting a really nice buzz around world showcase I love heading over there to just vibe. Get on a boat, zone out, relax and just be at peace. It's so zen, and I could live in the garden. If you ever get there chance to take the walking tour, do it.

I gotta go with YES Living with the Land pushes theme park tech forward. No other ride in the world has a working farm that not only grows its own food but then makes that food available in the theme park. That is an extremely efficient system. Then need to start raising cattle at Animal Kingdom to help complete that cycle.

I had no idea there was a tour until it was too late to book one, so I’m absolutely going to book one less dining reservation on my next trip so that I can take the tour! For $10 you ride in a tram through a botanical garden/orchard while a tour guide teaches you about each of the fruit/spice trees. Each area is divided by different regions of the world, and you can hop off of the tram and eat any fruit that fell on the ground. A must do for Living With The Land heads

Ok, but as someone who works in both ag and science, there are really NO facilities with world class research that don't have INSANE biosecurity controls, but you got whole boatloads of people just gliding through?! That's already world class ride design, which is also likely the real reason they do not let you wader, especially where there are fish and aquaponics involved, that stuff does not like contamination. I get not everyone would be as stoked as i am hearing about it, never been to Disney but this sounds like my jam. I actually really agree with Ryan that more people should care about what the idea behind the ride says and how the systems work to feed people, bc we all need to eat and we should respect the process that makes that happen

Speaking of The Land Pavilion building: it’s home to two of the few proper escalators in WDW. There’s a distinct lack of escalators on the Orlando property, from parks to hotels to other venues there. I think the experience of LWTL begins with walking up that outdoor walkway to the pavilion and riding down that escalator in cool AC, surrounded by nature theming.

That's crazy, I never knew about the original hot air balloon concept, but the main atrium had a fountain with a hot air balloon mobile hanging from the celing with 4 air hot air balloons representing the different seasons. This must have been something originally designed to represent the ride, but even when the ride was changed, I guess they kept it.

The land Pavilion used to have such great food options. Especially at breakfast and last time I was there, they had like two options. Maybe because they opened Starbucks.

On my one trip to WDW this was open when I got to the land pavilion, but I went on Soarin’ first. When I exited Soarin’ this had just closed for the day. There was still full daylight. It was my last day at the parks, too.

I was going to Disney like 3 to 5 times a month last year with a annual pass and I rode the heck out of this ride. It is legit one of my top 5 rides as well. Keep making the podcast guys. I love it
