    I'm more than happy for people to take all the food. I don't even mind if people brought containers.

    No, you don’t bring containers to bring food home, but if a host has tons left over and suggests you bring some home otherwise it will be thrown out, sure! My sister always has tons of leftovers and will throw out perfectly good, untouched, expensive food rather than put it away.

    I would never dream of doing this but my generation doesn't do dinner parties, lol. When I go to my in-laws for Sunday dinner, we are given leftovers and I am always grateful for that but I would never ask or assume.
