    6:13-7:02 ABSOLUTELY 100%. Managers are so comfortable blaming their employees for short comings, labeling them "lazy", but often fail to look at what may be contributing to these inefficiencies. I believe that, inherently, people want to work and be successful. They need the tools, structures, and support (especially moral support) to achieve this.

    I feel like I'm just mentally forcing myself to settle for something like this...don't get me wrong it's a good career, but my heart just isn't with this..I feel forced by family to pursue this..and I'm scared of regretting it and hating life. My heart is doing heroic careers like the military or police officers..I want my life to have special meaning to it apart from the average.

    Hey man, assuming you're a guy like me, I know what you mean. I'm in the same boat. Something I've read online is that whatever you go to for college does not have to be your lifetime commitment. As long as you get a good foundation, you can pursue your dream major later on. Today's not the last opportunity to get education, you can do that later on as well. Don't feel pressured that you have to do and achieve all those great things now, but make sure you have a solid foundation first.

    I've began building experience in HR as an intern last year and never thought I'd consider it to be a career for me until my internship ended and I began reflecting on how much I was passionate about what I was doing. I didn't receive any formal training and was learning as I went, but now I'd like to get in-depth knowledge so that I can progress into an HR professional. What's motivating me more was when I took the Myers-Briggs Personality test and found out that I am an INFP and HR was in my career matches. It's making me feel more confident about pursuing success in this industry. I feel as though the best of my personality traits can contribute greatly to the HR of business. Thanks for the great video!

    I'm in the same boat as you with the whole Personality thing. I identify as an INFJ and there were 2 careers that I was certain I'd be passionate about, those careers being Counselling and Arts. However, HR Managment was also one of them and a part of me wanted to see if I had the potential to get out of my comfort zone and become more business-oriented. I'm just finishing high school and I'll do some thorough research on what career paths I'd be willing to take.

    Great video. I love my career as an HR leader. I agree completely with the gentleman on the video who said getting into HR because you like people is not an ideal reason. HR has to deal with some very tough situations like terminations, lay-offs, etc...which can be emotionally draining. I work in Talent Management so fortunately I don't deal with that aspect. It can be a very rewarding career.

  • @cg1492

    @cg1492

    Жыл бұрын

    @@doublehsword6508 talent management is broad and includes talent acquisition, onboarding, development, performance management, succession planning, and workforce planning. In smaller organizations, you might do all of these functions whereas in larger organizations, you may have a separate team for each function. I call it the fun part of HR because it is all about how to attract, develop, and retain employees. I don't deal with terminations or layoffs because we have HR Business Partners that handle that aspect and an HRSS (shared services) team that handles the administration. In terms of sub fields of HR, I'd suggest doing a search for HR Centers of Excellence (COE). Common COE are Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Labour Relations, Health & Safety. Global organizations might have a Global Mobility COE, and an HR Data Analytics COE.

    I graduated BSBA major in Human Resources Development Management 3 years since I graduated, It takes a year since I found a job. Because here in Philippines it's hard to find a job if you're a fresh graduate. My first job was a Sale Associate in a mall it really make me sad Because that's not my dream job but still I work hard and did my best just to get a experience until I finish my contract. Then tried again to Apply for a new job it took 6 months to finally found a job again and still not in HR field. Now I'm working as Office Staff it's really hard for me to enter in HR field maybe I'm not ready yet. I'm still hoping someday I can enter in HR field. I just want to share this☺️

    I generally hate people. But due to having worked multiple jobs (I'm 26) I realised how illtreated people are in jobs and how it in turn makes high turnovers (changing of staff) and really this is the reason I chose to go into HR. Businesses need to know that the people MAKE the business, and yes they can be replaced, but that just slows down productivity - having to train new people over and over. Rather treat the ones you have now well, reward them, and make them happy to help grow the business. When I'm done studying I'll probably work in a client focused business, such as retail. Worst treated staff ever.

    part-time is a great way to go. If you have time, try for a quality internship as well. Usually the more recognized the company, they better of a signal it sends to future employers.

    If you can train a person then you can hire that person. Companies are wasting time when they are going through all the mundane activities of interviewing. Try This alternatively, invite a whole array of people Put them through an inhouse Training program on how to culture a business then ask all the questions you want to see who has the mentality of the boss then negotiate pay patiently then hire

    sofia salazar Some companies could care less about what your major is. They are simply looking at if you completed a bachelors or not because that shows that you can adapt and learn in a working environment. They are moreso looking at your experience or interest in the field itself.

    I am a guy and I have a bachelor's degree and a post graduate degree in HRM. I've been working in HR for 4 years now and lately I have been feeling very negative about this industry and I am not sure why. I notice that I get a lot of negative look from others when I say that I work for Human Resources and feel this is strictly a female dominated industry. There are several times that I get excluded from social events and activities just because I am a guy. This is a very tough field for a straight guy to survive based on my experience. Any suggestions or feedback on these negative thoughts? Thanks in advance.
