    does it hold gears? heard it auto downshifts. fkn annoying as hell, even in sport plus or custom mode. I ended up with q50 redpsort. it has 3 levels of dampening adjust ment. turns into a monster when in custom mode with all options turned to maximum. I just wish it was 600hp+ not 400... because then it would be perfect. also needs a bigger grill and AWD. i hope they make one in future like that

    Great video review! Ended up going to Vegas a couple weeks ago and traded in a 2022 VW Taos for a new 23 G70 2.0 AWD Sport Prestige. Previously had a 07 Infiniti G35 then a 09 G37, bioth great cars for the time and we really missed having a sport sedan in the garage since we sold the G37. Love the 3.3 and would have gotten one if they had a base 3.3 on the lot, but the 2.0 in AWD suits our needs just right, my "need for speed" isn't what it once was, being over 60 and having plenty of quick cars, this one feels just right! Really a buttoned-down overall package, has decent acceleration and very responsive steering and tight overall vehicle. The metallic black finish w/ the red leather interior is such a nice look, very happy w/ this car and hopefully it will continue to exceed our expectations. Their is one thing I wish they would have done, have dual exhaust spaced in the back like the Infinti, don't care for the twin pipes together on one side w/ the 2.0 or the wide ovals on the 3.3. And yeah, the 3.3 is the bad boy for sure, but the 2.0 still feels a big naughty and nice!

    Nice car. I have a 2023 model with the 3.3t. I love mine, but it's still new. I'm still on the honeymoon. With what you are saying about being treated special just because you drive a Genesis, I've not heard of special treatment for BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, etc.. I'm not better than the next person, because I drive a Genesis. Mercedes and BMW people are definitely not better than most people, they shouldn't expect better treatment. Just treat people with respect and a smile. I would NEVER buy a Mercedes, such a poor reliability record on them.

Always rattles for me which I can look past but it is damn annoying lol. Thankfully I have music on at all times... Aside from that I'll say the transmission when cold has pretty jerky/rough downshifts going from 3rd to 2nd but apparently this is very common as well across Stingers and G70s.

    I. have a Mercedes and here in LA and Suburban LA neither Mercedes dealer even offered me a ride home recently. The LA one I had to beg and plead and nearly get mad just to get a loaner for a two day repair. And at one point they they said, we might brake x as part of the repair and you'll have to pay to replace that broken part too. I was like "Wait! So fixing my broken car you might brake other stuff that's not broken now and you want to charge me? How about do no harm. How about not brake more stuff?" So trust that they don't give you any sort of door to door service either. Torrance has been nice and cordial for repairs and recalls. But one reason i go elsewhere now is, aside from the ridiculous markup, If i have to take the bus home anyways another shop is closer and cheaper now that i'm out of warranty

    I agree. I’m on Long Island as well and haven’t had great experiences with the service department. Definitely get the Hyundai treatment. I have a 21 and love the car, but the trim is going like yours. Got this instead of a 3 series because of the motor. Wondering if you’re looking to mod it at all. I asked the service advisor at north shore about an intake, spark plugs, and exhaust (really because I’d like a jb4), but he said not to change any parts. If I’m sure it wouldn’t void my warranty, I’d do it in a heartbeat. I’m sure I’ll pass you in the plainview / Hicksville area since I notice every g70 I pass lol. Keep surprising those bmw owners like I do lol

  • @defaultdaniel

    @defaultdaniel

    Жыл бұрын

    Nice if you see me honk. Honestly, modding being “ok” is relative. Depends on the dealer and who you know. Intakes, rims, exhaust (catback), no dealer can say anything. A tune is pushing it. You can uninstall before taking the car in, but if they try to find it I’m sure they can. Truth is, 99% of the time they won’t look bc they don’t have a reason to, unless you just blew up your engine, turbo, etc, and want a full warrant replacement.

  • @steven121588

    @steven121588

    Жыл бұрын

    @@defaultdaniel I would remove the jb4 so they wouldn’t see it or the piggy back “tune”. It’s really the spark plugs with a different gap that I would be worried about. I don’t know anyone at the dealer unfortunately, perhaps I’ll start with a cat back just to get a better sound out of it.

  • @defaultdaniel

    @defaultdaniel

    Жыл бұрын

    @@steven121588 no one will know about the plugs unless you have an engine issue. You have the right idea, just remove the tune if you have a warranty concerning, especially if it’s engine related. Most places are cool. If you act like a douche, bring your highly and blatantly modded car in, then demand a new turbo, yea chances are they’ll tell you to get out lol.

    This rides better than a Benz, tbh (at least compared to some). I had a 2020 C43, and now I have the 2023 G70 3.3. My C43's ride was a heinous atrocity any way I looked at it; it wasn't good at anything. The ride on the G70 straddles the lines very well. The Genesis isn't 100% sunshine and roses, but (especially for the money) it is a really good overall package. I've been very happy with mine.

    I just discovered your channel and like it especially cause I just purchased 2023 g70 3.3t rwd with both advanced and sport prestige packages, makalu gray with black wheels and blacked out chrome (was the only one on lot with those specs)! And to think I was thinking of getting a new Lexus IS350 F sport…boy so glad I didn’t! Fyi I was recently in market for new sport/luxury car since I retired from military this year and so I had saved up a pretty penny…I will say this, unfortunately like most dealerships Hyundai marked this up from msrp $55K to $62K because of their own add ons! So I was able to negotiate and I paid $58K OTD…it sucks that I paid over sticker but they were willing to come down some. The previous day I went and test drove Cadillac CT5V fully loaded-msrp $65K but marked up to $70K! I really liked the handling and driving dynamic of that car but dealership wouldn’t negotiate. I have like 200 miles on it so I mostly drive it in comfort mode which feels so good and luxurious. Whenever I do put in sport plus mode it definitely puts a smile on my face, such a joy to drive-handling and acceleration is immense! I also like that it has the auto rev match feature as well! Anyone reading this and in the market do yourself a favor and at least test drive this car in 3.3t with sport prestige package spec (includes brembo brakes all around, HUD, adaptive dampers, LSD, rev match, Michelin sport pilot 4s tires and a few other goodies)…you will see that it holds its own versus Lexus, BMW, Audi, Cadillac etc.

    Thanks for the great review. I bought a 3.3 Sport Prestige a few weeks ago, and I really like the car so far. Still doing break in miles (under 700 so far), so have not really been driving it like a loon, yet. I really like the driving experience. My only quibbles so far are the quality of some of the interior plastics. The parking button plastic is soft enough that I can already see small scratch lines in it. They should have used either metal or a harder plastic at such a frequent touch point. I have seen a similar complaint about the plastic on the electronic parking brake lever, tho I have not seen that on mine yet. Everything looks great, but some of the cabin switchgear (like the windshield wiper stalk) should be upgraded to something that feels more substantial. The steering wheel in the 2020 Civic Si that I bailed out of to buy this car feels better than this one. Also, the Civic Si has an amazingly stiff and solid feeling chassis. This one, while good, does not feel quite as flutter free as in the Honda. But overall, a really enjoyable car. I anticipate my final grade for it once I start driving it fast will come in around an A- or a high B+. And as far as the looks go, I would prefer this over the current 3 series all day, every day. It just looks less bland and generic than the BMW, to my eyes.

    I ended up choosing the GV70 2.5T advance trim over the G70 mainly as being originally from UK, I hate the impracticality of sedans vs Hatch back and the poor rear leg room which is improved in the GV70 and the rear seat reclining feature when I do carry passengers . I chose the 19 inch rims for better ride quality, mpg and tire cost. 300 hp is more than enough power for city driving . I turned off the pumped in engine sound and love how quiet the cabin is … in Vegas the Hyundai dealer has Genesis side and a new separate Genesis dealership under construction. 2 months in and only 1200 miles .. loving it so far .. I think the overall design elements of all Genesis models improves each new model released .. The GV70 looks like a Porsche Cayenne / Baby Bentley Bentigua hybrid .. gets a lot of looks as it’s still fairly rare ..

Thing rips like crazy, but the funny thing is that my GV70 with AWD can handle high speed corners almost the same speed as this RWD G70, specifically because the backend just starts to slip out so easily. That's fun for sure, but it slows you down if you're taking fast corners on nice roads, etc. I'm curious about an AWD G70 to see how it pulls through corners in comparison, I'd imagine it would have to be faster than the RWD since the front wheels will be able to pull you through like my GV70 does.

Was a pain in the ass though. pickup day they dragged out for 7+ hours and I had to walk out twice for them to finally agree to price and remove the BS $2500 fee to certify a car that was already CPO. Anyhow, how was it in the snow with it being lowered? Also how much of a hit was it to the ride quality? But it's a 2L RWD version, not the 3.3L AWD. The 3.3T AWD would be less - maybe around 20MPG. It's a great car. The dealership experience is interesting to me. I guess if you really are used to some type of special treatment maybe it's like 'oh great now I have to deal with a Hyundai dealership'. But I just can't justify the mindset of buying a BMW or Mercedes for the couple times a year you need to get an oil change done. I can't wrap my head around that mentality. And yes it depends on your dealership, I take mine in, it's not the nicest looking dealership since it's an older building, but they have dedicated Genesis sales reps and they treat me great when I take my car in. For the valet service, I wouldn't use it in any car I have. Are you going to risk 1) some young guy to pick up your nice sports car and not rip around in it a little bit on his way to the dealer, and 2) if something happens and he gets into an accident of any kind how are you going to feel? I take my GV70 to the dealer myself and pick up my loaner every time. Simple, no issues, no chance of someone else wrecking my car or anything weird happening between my house and the dealer. Also like you said, it's good to get to know your service rep. I had a rep let me keep a G70 loaner an extra two days after my GV70 service was done because he knew I was a sports car guy and he knew I'd love to rip around in a G70 for a few days.

Somehow only the trim around the windows has almost like this hard water damage on it that I can't figure out. also, I'm guessing something with the ceramic coating didn't stick to that trim or something? Same as you, you can polish it off, but I haven't wanted to spend another $150 on a full bottle of ceramic just to coat a little bit of window trim, so the entire SUV looks super clean and amazing, and for now I'm just leaving the trim looking like crap because I don't want to deal with it.

    Not sure if you chose yet, I have a GV70 3.5T Prestige and love it. No issues with 1.5 years and 16k miles, and I rip around corners in that thing all the time, it handles great. I'd say if you're looking at the two the G70 definitely feels like a sports car, the GV70 feels like a really nice SUV that they combined with a sports car. It's hard to explain, it handles better than you think an SUV should handle corners, but it's not as quick and snappy as the G70. The GV70 is newer though so it has more of the newer tech in it, the interior I'd say is nicer since it's more on the luxury side, and it's quieter, but that also comes at a 4500lbs penalty. I'd say it's a luxury SUV that has really good sports car characteristics, where the G70 is a sports car where they have nice luxury elements to it.

    @@Hardcaslte appreciate all that info! I think I had kind of come to that same conclusion but it’s nice to hear from someone who has the vehicle. If I were to purchase one it would be the prestige like yours. To answer your question no I have not made a purchase yet although it just became much more difficult since Jenise has announced the GV 80 coupe! I’ve test driven the GV 70 and I love the luxurious interior, but I’m trying to strike the right balance between sporty, luxury and convenience and I’m not sure which one I prefer more haha. In a perfect world I’d buy both the car and SUV. Never owned an SUV and the space and being higher up is really appealing. I do hope the g70 gets a refresh for the 24 model this year with the interior bringing it up to par with the GV70 in terms of luxury. @TheJeru117 yeah I'm actually waiting to see if the 2024 G70 gets a refresh too. I had a fully loaded 3.3t loaner and fell in love with it. The G70 is just always fun even when you're cruising, where the GV70 is really nice and comfortable all the time, and if you push it the GV70 turns on and and shows the sports car aspects that it can do. Never had an issue with the GV70, I had it in for service because it needed a computer update that I couldn't do over the air, but that's it. Everything else has been great with it. My dealership locally is also great, they treat me well and it's always fun talking to them because both genesis reps I've had are sports car guys too. The first service I did a while back he purposely didn't tell me it was ready for an additional day so I could hold onto the G70 an extra day lol. Dealerships seem to be hit and miss from what I've read, but if you have multiple dealers in your area like I do I don't think it'll be an issue.

    @@ak2112Interestingly enough, I’ve gotten the chance to drive both. I’ve driven the 2.0T and the 3.3. I love the torque and the power from the 3.3, it’s effortless. It almost reminds me of a small block they way you can just smash the pedal, drop the gears and have it jerk. Now the 2.0T is a respectable car, that 2.0 gets out on it’s on way and isn’t a slouch, not to the 3.3’s level though. However, I felt like the 2.0t was the more nimbler car. It did not feel as front end heavy as the 3.3, it was more neutral going into turns and the tiny turbo would spool up quick. The 3.3 felt more front end heavy and felt a little bit more to deal with. Both models were RWD models. I like them both, love the handling and nimbleness of the 2.0, love the power from the 3.3. Question is now, which one does it narrow down to? Handling or speed? It’s a tough question. Regardless I can’t go wrong with either. Genesis really has done amazing with their lineup and the G70 is nothing short of that. Tough question but winning odds regardless.

Looks to me like any rain with a higher alkalinity strips it off. So anyone near the ocean with sea air is screwed. Reminds me of a rubber dampener issue they had on my old Optima that was replaced as a customer convenience service if you lived in certain zip codes. I think at some point they need to either develop a new coating and apply it for free, or buy all new window stripping for all these cars and install. It looks terrible.

    You’re correct, some people think it’s from neglect, as does the dealer. It’s 100% a material defect that gets worse under the right conditions as you said

    I loved driving my G70 3.3T, but ive had nothing but issues. Common cosmetic issues like messed up chrome trim, cracked headlight assemblies. Parking sensor issues. And of course, the common issue of the headliner creaking and crackling when the car is left out in the sun. Unfortunately, Genesis has done everything in their power to NOT fix these issues. They have claimed the issues don't exist, despite me showing them videos and photos. They claimed the headliner rattle wasnt real, and I spent 30 seconds in the car with the service manager and the issue happened... then they didnt fix it. This is legitimately the worst car service I have ever encountered. I would suggest you look elsewhere for vehicles, and avoid Hyundai and Kia as well. Their warranty is BS, they just deny deny deny and refuse to fix.

    I have exactly two problems with the G70: • The back seats are too damn small. They should have designed this car to be even 6-12 inches longer and put that in the back seat legroom. • No one wants to buy premium gas. Give me a version with an 87 octane engine.
