It seems like a miracle this franchise exists. An RPG, with Sci-Fi technology, set in a parody of 1950's America. Tim Cain explained the development on his KZread channel. I recommend it.

Fallout 4 is my favorite of the series.

It's a great introduction to the fallout franchise. It also has a unique perspective of showing (albeit a bit brief) life before the bombs dropped. I just wish the npc pathing and combat was done better, so your settlements feel more alive. It sucks spending hours building a small town, just for the 20 people you have living there get stuck in an awkward mosh pit.

I totally agree! I recently replayed fallout 3, and constantly tried to pick up useless junk, that just sort of .. was there. Having stuff in a game that doesnt do anything is annoying. And the world in fallout 3 is kind of bland, compared to fallout 4. Every single sewer or building looks the same, so you dont really know where you are. Not so in fallout 4, where most locations is really unique. I do miss the roleplaying options from fallout New vegas though..

Going back to Fallout 3 after 4 and remembering the junk was only used in occasional weapon schematics was a huge shock to me too.

FO4 will always have a special place in my heart.

it has certain features that i like, but honestly no i feel like its the worst of the mainline series. honestly though the older i get the more i appreciate fallout primarily for the first two games and how they changed pc gaming, and for the worldbuilding and atmosphere of those first two games. then i enjoy fallout 3 and new vegas for at least attempting to translate some of that magic to 3d. fallout 1 specifically though was just such a huge leap for pc rpgs, one of the most important pc games of all time without a doubt

Yes Fallout 2 is full of goofyness if that's what you mean. Also I don't care about how old the game - after all no sane person would say that the first (or second) plane ever made is any better than even the average modern plane. The facts are that Fallout 4 has WAY better graphics, more to explore, more quests, items, gameplay mechanics, NPCs and other stuff like environmental storytelling.

You're a breath of fresh air dude! SO many gaming channels are negative, especially towards Bethesda. It's nice to see some optimism and positivity.

It was awesome to play first time round. Looking forward to the next gen update.

Fo4 has does the best with power armor. I love mixing X-01 chest and shoulders and T-51 head and legs.

I'm playing Fallout 4 for the first time on survival mode (with modded saving). It is definitely my favorite Fallout game, I am enjoying it more than New Vegas simply because of the gameplay. Fallout 4 is the perfect game to play as a survival simulator: trying to find food and drink in a post apocalyptic setting is obviously interesting, but the settlement building is also genuinely useful and leads to very careful exploration of interiors since every item is now potentially useful. Which in turn leads to tough decisions, since your inventory capacity is so restricted, and there are so many good weapons and armor pieces in the game. Fallout 4 is the only game without items which serve only for me to pick up and sell off: I feel like everything could be potentially useful so it's difficult to become too rich which leads to me carefully considering every purchase. All in all, survival Fallout 4 has probably the best gameplay loop in any similar game I've ever played, and that leads to emergent stories. So it doesn't matter how uniteresting the writing might be: the world is a great device for writing your own story.

I think Survival mode is really important for Fallout 4. Otherwise it's very easy to break the balance of that game.

I would also add, without Bethesda the last game would be fallout tactics/BOS... Which we can all agree are garbage! 🤣 New Vegas wouldn't have been made as we know it. I think it needs to be seen as a collaboration between Black Isle and it's fans (Bethesda are clearly fanboys!) which has made it more unique than the pile of post apocalypse stories out there.

yes. yes, it is. people looooove to give it shit, but that's just the nostalgia clouding the brain. fact is that fallout 4 has the most to offer of all the games, and that doesn't even include the modding scene yet. currently running 825 mods/677 plugins and that shit is literally fallout 5. no other game could do this.

Yes, because the base game is of high enough quality that has enabled modders to go for it creatively. It was a worthy GOTY.

Fallout 4 saved my life, no joke. In 2008 I became a widower (we never married because to us it was just a piece of paper, we were wrong and I had no rights when she died. But we were together 14 years.), in 2015 my best friend died, followed by a high school friend, and the day after my mom died, I had to make the call to let her go. I also lost 2 pets and didn't know if I was going to be able to keep my house. I was a real bear at work. I had enough of life and was nasty to everyone. My boss saw this and tolerated it because who wouldn't be kn bad shape,? After a heart to heart he gave me a copy of fallout 4. It got me put of this reality enough to keep me going just enough to survive until things got better. I still play to this day, and have gotten copies for friends who love it, one who was shot and nearly lost his leg, it helped him through the healing process.

The entire DNA of Fallout Franchise is BUILD upon RPG, RPG IS IN IT'S DNA. So yeah that's kinda more important than anything else and F4 fails spectacularly in it. Also F4 is bad at world building and creating post post war atmosphere so again how can you defend F4. F4 less gritty post war atmosphere than F3, and NV has better post post war atmosphere.

We live in a world where we tolerate everyone's opinions, and now there are 365 genders. You can even identify as a Apache helicopter if you want - just an example. If your opinion is not valid, someone has to say it. I personally do not know this man, and I am not attacking him. So, it is not ad hominem. It is simply that he is wrong on almost every aspect in this video. For example, he is talking about the intro, how it is very good, etc. No, it is not. You do not spend enough time in the intro to make any meaningful connection with your wife/husband or baby. Next, you are thrown into the world with the task of saving your son. Who cares about him? After a few minutes of the game, you forget that you even have a son. There is no urgency in finding him or any motivation from the player, except if you try to roleplay it hard like you need to save him. And yet again, the next major quest is to save Preston and build up Sanctuary, help other settlements. Now you have to either ignore saving your son or go build water pumps for more settlers. You can see how two major points of the game contradict one another. If that is good writing for you or anyone else, it is not strange how almost all AAA games have writing on the level of primary school. And I can go almost point by point on this video and prove him wrong. So yes, his opinion on Fallout 4 is wrong.@@funki4896

No its not, video over. I just replayed new vegas. Combat sucks. Glitchy as hell. The story and getting sucked into the game is on another level in new vegas. I like fallout 4 plenty but its a first person shooter role playing as a ROLE PLAYING GAME.

i don't think the new fallout style is stylish, for me is just ugly and made by someone that dont know how a gun or cars or even people work, bioshock is retrofuturistic and im not seen goofy stuff every 10 min people say that fallout 4 is immersive, but if you are critical of your surrounding like me i just cannot take the game seriously the game is just dumb fun, not umplayable just add 100 gun mods and skip the dialog, shoot stuff make 20 beds... fallout 2 and new vegas i can just dive in and be a caracter take stuff at your time... fallout 4 was my first fallout and at the time i didn't finished the game, new vegas was the first fallout i reach the end

Fallout 4 is a great shooter and a bad rpg. Period. Fallout new vegas is the best Fallout. If new vegas was made with Fallout 4 game engine and graphics, this topic would be irrelevant. New Vegas has the better story, but not the tech that Fallout 4 has. I heard there is a mod coming out, probably years away. Same could be said about Skyblivion. Devs won't do it, so we have to wait for years to get a mod.

What previous Fallout game comes even close to Fallout 4 in these categories? The only thing Fallout 4 lacked is a good writer. In almost all other aspects Fallout 4 is the best. Fallout 76 has more musical variety and better graphics - OK. But I'm pretty sure you are not even meaning Fallout 76. Fallout 4 is a game of extremely high quality and I won't even argue about that further. You have made such a ridiculous claim just because Fallout 4 isn't completely perfect. It's like claiming that Earth is flat just because it's not perfectly round due to its rotation.
