There are people who think Double D is an asshole? Have any of these people seen A Fistful of Ed? That's easily the best Double D episode there is. And even has some really nice emotional moments where he cries BECAUSE people think he's a bully.

It's may be a good Double D episode, but it's a horrible Eddy episode. Eddy was a massive douche in that episode, he took advantage of his friend's pain and the kids' fear of him in order to become essentially untouchable. I wouldn't say it's too out of character for him, but it should've led to a major comeuppance like in Brother Can You Spare An Ed. Personally, I feel that episode would've been far better if Eddy was the one who got pummeled in the end instead of Double D. Eddy more than had it coming, but instead they decided to put Double D through more hell. If anything, Eddy is the real asshole of the show.

So Double D's a total jerkwad for trying to convince Ed to do the right thing, going through all that torturous pain, taking hits for Ed when he didn't listen to Double D and being sorry that he didn't listen, being the one to offer to pay Sarah back, and punishing Eddy when he deserved it yet when Eddy only does horrible things throughout the entire episode and is punished for his wrong doing, that makes him a saint.... I don't see how "My Fair Ed" counts as Double D being an "asshole" since the only reason he was even trying to change Ed and Eddy was because of the Cul-De-Sac kids blaming him as the sole reason of their misbehavior. In the end of the episode he regrets it and is very sad because he thinks they've changed and wanted them back to the way they were. (If anything Ed and Eddy just faked their changes to torment Double D) I also don't agree with "Pick an Ed" Idk why other dislike the episode I quite liked it as it led mystery and also Eddy ditches Ed and Double D in favor of just hanging out with the other kids, he basically leaves the only two friends he had. Double D was only a jerk to remind Eddy of who he was. He only wrote the following Phrases of "Eddy is a No Neck Chump" using washable markers. And this is coming from someone who found the school episodes really weak. I guess Dim Lit Ed is debatable. I agree with this review as a whole. I liked all the episodes mentioned. Nice job. :) Honestly in “Brother Can you Spare an Ed” is one of the only times I found the kids enjoyable. Even Sarah and I hate Sarah. People also listed “A Case of Ed” an episode where he does nothing wrong, Eddy makes him think he’s actually dying. I don’t see where people are coming from. lol Double D is a good person, so I agree. XD

I suppose the difference between eddy from ed edd n eddy and Patrick star from spongebob is that eddy gets punished for being in the wrong while Patrick just gets away with doing bad things

Well Jem, I'm not defending Eddy here in this case, but when you think about it, Sarah was still at fault here. I mean first of all, why the hell would she trust Ed of all people to handle her money when she knows full well he's gonna screw up? Second, if Sarah really wanted to get fudge, what stopped her from going to the store herself to get it?

thats actually true, it really doesnt make sense why she would give it to him in the first place but to be fair, ed WAS about to buy her fudge until eddy stopped him so i mean, if it wasnt for eddy doing that, sarahs trust wouldve been well put, but also i feel like sarah KNOWS shes a tough bitch so she probably felt "even ed wont be stupid enough to disobey me cuz he knows ill hurt him" but thats definitely something the episode shouldve touched on better, thank you for pointing that out

How on Earth Double D is the jerk? If anything, he was the only sane man in ‘Brother, can you spare an Ed?’ (Yes, that also includes Sarah for giving Ed her money) as he tried to get Ed to do the right thing, tried to get Sarah her money back, and had to endure a lot of punishment, only for Eddy to take the money for himself. If anything, Eddy deserved to have Edd use him in his last plan to repay Sarah.

If anything, i related most to Sarah, Jimmy, Johnny, and Double D when i was growing up. I had a volatile anger that got my teachers to outright piss pound my classmates for instigating like sarah, i was the target of lots of bullying and harrassment like Jimmy, i was the kid who...so long as i wasnt angry, was practically the kindest and most innocent kid anyone knew albeit still pretty odd like johnny, and i was actually more intellectually advanced than most kids my age and had a tendency to snap like a breadstick if something went wrong like double d. I mean for pete sake i actually sent MYSELF to a mental hospital after being harrassed in class by the other kids...and i was in highschool...on two seperate occassions

Wow...impressive.

The funny thing about characters' actions is that you can take them out of context, and suddenly they seem like something else. Unfortunately, many of Double D's actions tend to make more sense in context, while out of context, they seem worse than they are.

Seriously, someone needs to watch the entire episode instead of the last two minutes of each episode before they throw out accusations like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if the person you talked about in this video, is a huge fan of Eddy with an irrational hate of Double D, so in his eyes his favorite character being foiled by the one he hates is equivalent to being an asshole no matter what the latter did. I love Eddy a lot more than Double D but boy he's certainly not the good guy here. I hate when people pull terrible arguments out of their arses solely because of the way they feel about certain characters.

Its not that people hated Double D. From what I understand, there are people who were extremely happy to see Eddy scam Sarah out of her candy. The reason is because she's just so hated by the fans and it felt so good to see the Eds get payback against the Mary Sue who never got her karma. Yes, its a dumb reason but seeing as how Sarah treats her saint of a brother so cruelly, it gets to the point where you want to see her suffer. Honestly if it was the roles reversed, I wouldn't be surprised if Sarah was a hypocrite and spent Ed's money since she is such a spoiled brat.

@@RockNRollSurf I get what you mean and yeah Sarah is a horrible train wreck of a character who is a huge karma Houdini. So when she's owned by another character, it's satisfying. Though what I meant was not the fans in general, but just the one fan described in the video. As I find it rather odd that he hatefully labels Double D a asshole character, especially towards Eddy, but ignores the fact that Eddy himself fits the description of an asshole character. Which leads me to the conclusion that he's just an Eddy fan, who hates Double D, which is why he thinks he's an asshole because he is sometimes a foil to his beloved Eddy.

Even Though I Dislike Sarah, She Has Every Right To Be Mad Here

You bring up very good points, double d tells Ed to buy the fudge because it wasn't Ed's money, offered to pay Sarah back, came to Ed's side, and rightly punished Eddy for starting this whole mess in the first place. So, how exactly do any of these actions bring double d into the wrong?

Double is not a asshole but he’s can be a smartass that gives on everybody’s nerves.

I can understand why Edd comes off as an "asshole" in "Sorry, Wrong Ed", but the thing isn't that he was trying to be an asshole. Ever since the unexplained dodgeball incident that was mentioned in his character bio, Edd has completely devoted himself to science, physics, and rationality. When the phone began showing signs of being cursed, however, it went against everything he believed in since curses belong to a supernatural field which can't be explained by science. When the incidents continued to occur without the phone in their range, it gave Edd hope that there was indeed a rational explanation for the curse because it was attributed to the phone, not the existence of the occult. In that since, rather than gloating he was trying to convince himself that there was no curse

Last night, I had this dream: It started in, uh, essentially the Spongebob episode, Sing A Song of Patrick, with Ed, Edd n' Eddy characters, and then the rapture happened, and Ed was sent to hell, where a talking chicken built a nest around him and forced him to eat it. Then Ed started wondering where Double D was, and we then cut to him on a cruise ship that was heading for heaven.

I dont see how double d was an asshole in sorry wrong ed. If anything the final scene shows that he had actually snapped when bad stuff kept happening to eddy even after going through lengths to prove that there were causes to his misfortune when eddy had the phone. The fact that a sand box falling out of the sky, hippos stampeding, lightning striking, a tree falling on eddy, and eddys house literally falling apart like a house of cards was probably too much for double d's more logical brain to handle especially since he could most likely recite the probabilities of each of these events happening individually off the top of his head like Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory, but like a calculator when it hits a limit of digits his brain probably just read error when trying to factor in the last few stuff happening to eddy. He had no way of calculating these probabilities because a tree falling on eddy when there were none within such reach, a stampede of hippos appearing when we have never even seen a zoo in their little town of peachcreek, and again A SANDBOX FALLING OUT OF THE SKY AND LANDING ON EDDY WITH THE SAND FOLLOWING SUIT! HOW DOES ONE CALCULATE THOSE ODDS HAPPENING WITHOUT HAVING NOTICABLE INSANITY MOMENTS? i will admit the episode could have been better written to better suggest that but as it has always been i always thought edd just snapped at that moment

Double D isn't an asshole. during Dim Lit Ed, Double D fear'd the kids are not very well educated and decided on the scavenger hunt. The PROBLEM was the kids reacted quickly without thinking assuming the prize was gonna be a Jawbreaker. Sorry Wrong Ed isn't a very likable episode mainly due to how Double D behaves (between how the writer wrote for him or not). There's a certain lvl of disbelief to a breaking point when coming to realize that the phone is "possibly" cursed, and Double D refuses to believe that even when a Sandbox falls from the sky and a herd of Hippos stampede Eddy.

People really think Double D is a ass hole in Brother can you spare a Ed? In Sorry Wrong Ed no doubt. Hes completely out of charter there. you are 100 precent right the curse should have been put on double D at the end of the episode. but what we get? eddys own house collapsing on him. The writers where high wen they made that atrocity of a episode.

I can definitely see where you're going at with 'Sorry Wrong Ed'. I mean sure Rolf said the phone was cursed, but he didn't actually give out a lucid explanation about how the phone cursed him and let's face it. Does anybody really expect a stubborn guy like Eddy to listen to a foreigner who is known for bizarre traditions and eating strange food, even if he was right? So yeah. Digging up the phone may have been a stupid idea for Eddy, but I wouldn't say he completely brought it upon himself.

+Jem Reviews I think Mr. Enter summed it up best: "All Eddy did was take something that Rolf threw away." How exactly is it theft when the original owner is literally throwing it away like that? But yeah, it would have been better if their positions were reversed: Eddy thinks the phone is so stylish that he refuses to give it up, while both Ed and Double D think something is wrong and that maybe he should get rid of it.

Because you like other lovable assholes like Bender and Cartman and I remember on your review on 'Sorry Wrong Ed' where one user compared Eddy's injuries in that episode to whatever horrible fate Eustace suffered in like 90% of the episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

i wouldnt say i hate him but i wouldnt say i like him, like to me hes more of a one dimensional tool to get the plots going whereas someone like eddy is multi dimensional and actually has a charm to his assholeness unlike eustace whos personality is nothing more then a stereotypical grouchy old guy, eustace can be a funny character though when he does something stupid and gets his comeupons, but i personally wouldnt like to see an episode where hes suffering for next to no reason and looks totally helpless and just wants the pain to stop like eddy goes through in sorry wrong ed

+Jem Reviews I have to agree. Eustace, while pretty entertaining, wasn't a very complex character to me. He was too one-dimensional without any real quirks to his attribute and didn't show any actual relationship towards Courage other than hatred. I mean considering his somber backstory, you would think he would have at least some respect for Courage since the dog busted his ass to save the old man from danger even when he didn't deserve it. But that isn't the case, especially after what we saw in 'Ball of Revenge'.

I'm sorry, but I'm probably in the minority on not hating Sorry Wrong Ed, because Eddy's intention was his usual selfishness and greed, because it's a gold phone, and I get that Rolf's very eccentric and weird, but again, just because Rolf was trying to get rid of that phone, doesn't give Eddy the right to snatch it and keep it in his room just because it's gold and shiny. He was conning Rolf like he always does, so yeah, he did bring that curse on himself

David Timmer I'm sorry but this kinda shows how little you know about the episode Eddy actually did nothing wrong. All Eddy did was take somebody's trash. That's hardly a moral grey area not even justification for the torment he went through. He only took something that Rolf WANTED to get rid of. Also it makes sense he didn't listen to Rolf calling it a messenger of doom since Rolf was always known to doing wierd things. So yeah Eddy didn't deserve any of the torment he got

David Timmer Did you not watch the video? All Eddy did was take something Rolf WANTED TO GET RID OF. He didn't "con" anybody. How would he know the phone was cursed? Rolf barely gave him an explanation so it made sense Eddy would assume the just Rolf being wierd. None of this was Eddy's fault.

Jem Reviews: Other than the typical characters: Kevin, The Kranker sisters, Sarah; I think the biggest A-Hole is Eddy. He's very manipulative, uncaring, laughs at other people's pain ect extra. I enjoy Eddy's character; don't get me wrong. But out of the Ed's, Eddy is the biggest A-hole in my opinion anyway. Double D can be a big A-Hole at times, but I always chalked it out because he was very knowledgeable about things, so he can be condescending about things. Just my thoughts though, would be interested in what you thought about that.

I argue that the curse of the phone was more powerful than you considered and maybe it's possible that the curse has an affect on how others perceive the phones curse. So double D couldn't see that the phone was curse, well, eddy couldn't see that the phone was cursed when Rolf told him about it either. Maybe that's a subtle part of the curse. I didn't extensively rewatch the episode to confirm. But that's my theory.

I did a comic strip in which I sort of crossed over Ed Edd n' Eddy and South Park, and, well, at one point I had Stan describe Eddy as "the Cartman of Ed Edd n' Eddy"

So this comic strip is actually sort of a sequel to one of my other works, one of my characters (inspired by South Park) is having the South Park boys interrogate the Eds because of something they did to him in the inspired work. Stan is interrogating Eddy, and Eddy tries to get Stan's money through a little game he made up, and Stan says: "Geez, you're, like, the Cartman of Ed Edd n' Eddy."

1:20, I fucking agree with that guy.

Funny that you're also surprised people believe Double Dee has always been mean, I've been hyperfixated on this show and semi-active in the fandom for a while now(definitely not a veteran but I've been around for a year or two since I first watched through the whole series) and I was under the opposite impression of the fandom's opinion, that they think he's too nice. I guess people are kinda black and white on it. Either they infantilize him as a precious sweetheart anime girl, or a deceiving asshole. I'd say he's a bit of both, and not just because of character inconsistency(this show is really good at complex yet believable and natural character nuances, that's part of why I've been so hyperfixated on it). Then again, this is a pretty old video. Maybe things have changed that much.

Is sarah and jimmy that damm lazy to go to the store

well he is always calm and smarth, the problem is when he gets annoyed... everyone has a limit, and they constantly teasing him. Plus how many times Double D has suffered cuz of Eddy or this enjoying Double D's suffering. So is for me normal that he enjoys watching Eddy taking some of his own back

I hate Jimmy, Kevin, Sarah and the kanker sisters but mostly Sarah

The real question is why would Sarah trust Ed with her money to do something for him even though she knows what Ed does all the time and she calls him names and things that are even more hurtful than what Eddy says about him.

Edd is very patient and kind. However he isnt a saint! His patience has it's limits and in 'sorry wrong ed' he was constantly ignored by eddy and before his ending rant edd clearly looks like he snapped

It depends on what episode that double d is in,but it just for bad writing.

Besides Double D being brought up in this video, you made way back. I wish you did one on Nazz, too, also. She is in some way written ooc just like Double D in some episodes that doesn't do no scene and i like how Kevin is a jerk to the Ed's in some episodes that they didn't do nothing bad but being a bully by not seeing him for who he really is being blinded having a stupid crush on him. She was the only character that helped Double d offering her bathroom to him so he can get cleaned up than how harsh Sarah is to him that he didn't do nothing bad in this episode and you don't see Ed or Eddy in this episode till the very end when they helped their pal Double d washing him up with filthy crap stuff. Nazz needs a new better female friend than not hanging with Sarah or jerk with Kevin. She's great with being with Double d and a new female friend who isn't a spoil brat like Sarah.

What about Mission Ed Possible? Double D is tasked to send his friends' report cards to their parents (irl the principal would not task a student like that). Sure Eddy was changing the report cards but wouldn't Double D be hesitant to do that? or tell the principal "no I do not want to betray my friends" and have someone else do it?

At least in Charlie Brown the adults have lines, unintelligibles but they do, and the kids interact with them. In eds' world they don't even have lines or show up in the scenes, interact with the kids, nothing. But on the other hand, at least it's shown eddy's father and ed's mother arms in mission edpossible. And, as far as I know, you don't see any part of the adults in Charlie Brown universe.

I'd say that he was half a jerk in MIssion Ed Possible since Double D decided to let Ed face the consequences in the hands of his apparently abusive mother instead of actually assisting him with his mental disorder. Eddy, on the other hand, deserved to get punished, because he got his bad grades for not actually doing his work, and if Double D lets him get away with his terrible report card, Eddy won't learn anything.

I always realized something strange a jawbreaker cost 25 cents in this show and they bought 3 so they paid 75 cents total yet Sarah clearly had a paper bill in her hand so that was more than 75 cents and when sarah says your short eddy had like 7 quarter in his hands. Make me wonder what happened to the change?

Might've been like a five. They never really clarified what kind of bill it was and the drawing wasn't really all that detailed, so it's kind of up in the air how much the bill was actually worth. There's also things like tax to keep in mind that means that further up the cost.

Well, lets keep in mind about Edd(Even though this is old) he is more of the scientific and passive side of the things but doesn't me he doesn't have his limits, in both case Edd had a reason to get mad or loss it. Edd tries to calm down Eddy that there's no curse but Eddy lets it continue to say its right and countines to kick the bee hive at the end of the Episode "Sorry Wrong Ed" and at that point Edd losts his screws And the reason why Eddy gets the "punishment" in the first place was that he dotes Rolf to make him feel safe and of course not listening to warnings In my opinion only 2 episodes are bad but not as bad as other shows 'Your Ed Here' and 'Smile for an Ed'

It's not his fault Ed is too stupid to stand up to his own sister. None of this would have happened if he had. The Eds just wanted to get on with another scam, but Sarah had to go and be her usual jerkish self and ruin things for them just like she did in "Ed in a half Shell"...

eventually, I haven't broken away from Ed Edd n eddy because that's the show I have the most knowledge of, I'll most likely do courage after I'm done with Spongebob because I do have a few ideas for it but I still need to refresh myself on that, I've been kinda just sticking with the shows I know I can get done quickly cuz Im balancing school and work so I don't have a ton of time to work on reviews

+Jem Reviews I think a way to make Sorry Wrong Ed work is to show why Double Dee is doing this. Imagine this, they show the day before this episode took place and the Eds make a scam that ends up hurting the kids. Then Eddy runs with the money leaving Double Dee and Ed behind and the kids take their anger out on them. Then the next day have Double Dee pretend that he thinks the phone is not cursed as a way to get him back for leaving him and Ed behind.

+Gary Cuomo that scene flew by so fast I overlooked it :( my bad, and if they did that with sorry wrong Ed, that'd work too, or instead of the phone even being cursed, it could've been double d doing all those things as payback for eddy leaving double d behind, and making eddy think it's cursed, hell maybe instead of Rolf burying the phone, eddy could've seen the phone at a store and decided to do the scam to the kids in order to buy it so double d made him think it was cursed so he'd return it for a refund and they could use the refund to pay the kids back, thus clearing double d and eds name, the idea you presented actually offers a lot of possibilities to how they could've done a cursed phone storyline right!

You are wrong about the phone episode. Eddy did bring it upon himself. It was his actions of taking something where the consequences are cosmic, and he was warned about it as well. His consequences aren't deserved, but the curse is cosmic in nature and doesn't need to be. And you cannot use the Rolf is weird as an excuse when it is generally his culture to put eels in pants as forgiveness as much as shaking one's hand is respect in our country, yet offensive in the Middle East if you use your right hand. In whatever culture you are in your native will always be more correct as a natural outlook on civilization. Regardless, Eddy brought it upon himself. It's the same as saying walking under a ladder isn't bad luck, but then it is and you can't stop it from happening. He did his due. Walking under that ladder is telling your angry and merciless god to kiss your ass and that you'd piss in his eye if you could. The message is muddy, but you need my type of analogy to understand the kind of lesson here. He is kind of an asshole to Eddy's pain also, but that pain is common in there universe, but the thing Edd hold's in high regard is science and passivism. He doesn't believe in magic, ghosts, or curses. And seeing that Eddy is still getting fucked by the universe only proves him right. Something he enjoys being more than anything else. Just look at the episode where Ed is smarter than Edd. He feels mortified that he's wrong. But the fact of being right is what he holds in high regard.

I LITTERALLY said Eddy was taking something someone else didn't even want, and Rolf's warnings were so cryptic that I wouldn't be surprised if eddy didn't understand a word Rolf was saying, and I didn't say Rolf being weird was an excuse for Eddy not listening to him, I said it probably didn't seem like out of the ordinary behavior to Eddy and I said straight up that even Edd, who's the smart one, didn't seem to understand what Rolf's warnings, so what makes you think EDDY would understand it? Also I agree with what you said about Edd not believing in curses, that was a big mistake on my part, and while I get the pain is common in their univierse, Edd has still acted more caring towards Eddy before and has even stood up for him before when he was getting beat up, so it's out of character for him to be so oblivious to it, but you're totally right that I dropped the ball on my argument about Edd not noticing the curse

In the context of the episode, Ed and Eddy were literally trying to change their report cards to make it look like they were doing better than they were, which would've had far worse consequences for them than if Double D hadn't delivered the report cards. Changing the grades wouldn't change the truth that they were failing. What was Double D supposed to do in Mission Ed-Possible? Let them fail? What would happen once Ed and Eddy failed middle school and couldn't advance to high school with Double D? How much longer would their friendship last after that? Double D would be hanging out with high school while the other two Eds would be stuck repeating middle school. Ed and Eddy's parents also would've learned the truth regardless, and been even more furious with them than they were simply from them failing. When I was in school, I never tried to change my progress report to look better. It's a beyond stupid thing to do.

I understand, some people accuse me of being an asshole too but I am not.

4:55 why is she inside Ed's clothes? Come to think of it she does this a lot and the eds never really complain is their something they're not telling people?

I Don't See why Cry Ed There When Eddy Told Double D To Go Get The Kids While Rolf and Kevin Beat Him Up

Hey Jem. Throughout this video and watching A Fistful of Ed... How is Double D weaker than Jimmy? Shouldn't he be a tad stronger than Jimmy? I think an explanation is needed. Not trying to make you do a video about it, but at the same time, it'd be better to do so. I mean, Double D was turned into a 'thug' or 'brute' (you name it) throughout A Fistful of Ed. On to Jimmy. As you explained in your If it Smells Like an Ed review, Jimmy has always been getting hurt, and that's part of his character. So why in A Fistful of Ed, he's a bit tougher than Edd? Sure, Jimmy was in rage mode during the scene where they fight, but why consider Double D the weaker one out of both the Eds and the kids? Detailed explanation is needed, period.

I think that enraging state of Jimmy helped him. In the state he was at the moment I think he could destroy even Rolf and Ed, that was an extreme situation and that's inconclusive. But I think Jimmy is the weakest, even because he is the youngest, besides his fragility.

If anyone thinks Double D was a jerk in a fistful of ed than they must have wished that season 5 never existed

double d isn't an asshole, but he definitely isn't an angel either. at the core he's a good kid, but people tend to forget he has his dickish moments too (sorry wrong ed, mission ed-possible). though they're best friends, the eds have all betrayed each other, with eddy being the most frequent at it (its in his character to be selfish), and ed being the least likely to do so (he seems to do it unknowingly , such as in the halloween special). SO double d isn't an asshole yes, he's a sweet person who wants to do the right thing, but he's also crazy condescending and can be just as bad as any other cul-de-sac kid when his strings are pulled, or when he sees it as justifiable revenge.

"You need help, you all need help!" That's just a fact, he isn't being an asshole about anything, he's realized what has been right in front of all of them all this time And of course poor people in a cul-de-sac need help, more than most Being a know-it-all is objectively(factually) better than being an idiot like the majority of people,
