Is Ducati the ITALIAN Harley Davidson?! | VLOG005

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When you think of brands with a cult following, one of the top names in that conversation is Harley Davidson. They've got an image, and the fans are die-hard, wearing the gear almost like a uniform.
Very similar to another brand that we love... Ducati.
Yes, you guys may not like to hear this one, but Ducati is a lot like Harley Davidson... We'd even call them the Italian Harley Davidson! (At least in terms of cult following).
Let's talk about it!

I think you're right about the Harley and Ducati rider crew. One of the things I love about Ducati is the community and sense of belonging when riding with other Ducati riders and being so different than most other bikes out there. Harley is the norm in the US of course but I can imagine the community brings a great sense of belonging as well.

@@Motomillion Well, they are both companies that make above average, more expensive motorcycles (on different levels), but unlike their competitors, they have managed to make their brand a lifestyle that’s embraced by their customers. On those grounds, they are very similar.

I own 3 Ducati's, and one of them is the Xdiavel and I understand on what are trying say. Xdiavel or Diavel is just better, faster and unique looking bikes! However, I don't think we can compare HD to Ducati. They're just incomparable and I don't mean to disrespect the HD community, I mean they're not the same. I take trips with my bikes, and I enjoy doing that whenever I can and if I had to add one more bike to my collection, it would definitely be a HD

Yes. I have a Diavel V4, and explain to people that it's basically the Italian HD. It's a premium priced product that isn't necessarily the cheapest to own/maintain. I don't have any Ducati branded clothing though, not my thing. I have ridden some HDs, and nothing wrong with them, just not my style of bike. A bit lethargic and I don't like how they feel 'top heavy'. If I did have one, again would be dressed in the gear though.

@@nothingtoseehere93 I really think that's a matter of opinion based on what you prioritize. I've owned an Indian Challenger, and shopped it against the Road Glide. The fit/finish/materials of the HD was better then the Indian, but performance of the Indian blew the HD out of the water.

@@Motomillion I've seen the CVO bikes as well. The paint/fit/finish are gorgeous. I just don't like how heavy the bikes feel vs other bikes because the weight is just carried higher on the bike. I'm always surprised how much lighter/nimble a bike feels vs a Harley when they have the same weight. I'm not anti-HD in any way at all, just not my cup of tea.

HD's are cool looking but very expensive for what they offer, slow, heavy, handle poorly and brake even worse. But they look and sound cool. They are designed for the open road and straight highways. I have ridden a couple and I get it, if you like to cruise they are cool.

Coaxial mounted brakes and telescopic forks on a $30k+ motorcycle. There is no comparing these two machines. Ducati has a fit and finish eons ahead of Harley. But the very 2 distinct groups of riders do share a similar level of passion for motorcycles. That said, I have a new found respect for HD with what they have done to the '24 Road Glide platform.

I've never liked the Diavel. When I first saw it, I immediately thought "What is it?" I concluded it's a crossover and I've never been a fan of crossovers (four wheels or two). I'm a traditionalist and think a sedan should look like a sedan, an SUV should look like an SUV, a truck should look like a truck, and a station wagon should look like a station wagon. I think when you combine styling elements of various vehicles into one, it ends up being a styling disaster. I've never been a fan of half nakeds, either (think Streetfigher). A true naked is a Monster 1200. I know people will say the Diavel is a cruiser. An Italian cruiser. Call it what you want, I'll pass.
