I prefer older men because they have more experience to offer plus the conversations are probably better. Also, they are more likely to challenge me intellectually.

It wasn't a date but at least I felt like he listened and respected me. He even opened the car door for me at the end of the night...then again he's probably just lonely and wanting to be with someone. How did you know your guy was the one?

+Mariah Conklin. I fell for a girl that was 29 when I was 37. Some people would call that a "mid-life crisis" but really neither of us thought about age at the time we met. We just had tons of chemistry and much in common. That's what matters. The heart wants what the heart wants. You can't really go out in the world and say I'm only going to date people 4 yrs above or under my age and everyone else is out... cause really you never know who you're going to meet or when it's gonna just click. You'll know when it's right.

So many of the people in the comments here are gross...just because the idea of a younger woman dating an older guy doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean that it's wrong, and it's certainly not sexist....When I was in my senior year of high school I started dating a guy who was the same age as me. We were together for two years, and it SUCKED. He was going and getting drunk with his friends every other weekend, was constantly broke, never had the same job for more than 3 months, and was all around just a massive manchild. I've never been one for partying, and once I graduated high school and started college, I wanted to focus on my school work because my goal is to get into grad school, and I need good marks. My boyfriend was constantly badgering me about hanging out with him, saying I studied too much, saying I was boring. After we broke up, I started seeing a 30 year old guy when I was 19. We've been together for a year, and it is so much better. He is way more considerate of my interests, thinks it's great that I focus so much on my school work, and honestly, it's just easier to talk to and relate to someone who understands the meaning of the word 'responsibility'. The majority of guys my age still want to act like teenagers.

I've been seeing a man who is 24 years older than myself and it's one of the best relationships I've been in. I've always been attracted to older men and although I had never previously dated someone with this large of an age gap, I really am loving it. There is no financial gain for me which is the first question I get. He doesn't shower me in gifts or pay my bills, haha. Dating an older man can be kind of scary at first because of the social aspect that your peers won't accept it, but it really is great.

Some younger women prefer to be with older men because of the maturity of an older man and also their experiences in life. For me if you are in love with that person age won’t matter with you what matter is how you could prove your love for that person.

Yeah, I wanted to get married and have children when I was 13 years old.

My boyfriend is 9 years older than me. I am 28 for the record :) I can tell you it isn't for money, he has a lot of qualities that I find complete my personality. I find that I can actually hold a conversation with him for more than 5 minutes, which I can't seem to do with anyone my age. He is very smart and because he is older I can take any issue I am dealing with to him and his knowledge and life experience help me overcome in a way I couldn't do alone. I am the type that prefers to stay home and have a quiet evening to ourselves, where most people my age still want to party. That just isn't my scene and he gets that. Age is just a number and no one, male or female, should let it get in the way of what could end up being a successful and satisfying relationship.

I do have a shitty dad. It doesn't have to be as issue when it comes to dating an older man. It just depends on your feelings and behavior - it does not have to fully mean you're searching for someone who's gonna fill that space in your heart. I am 18 and my fiance is almost 29. Let me tell you it is nice to have a great man in your life. But it is not it. He's mature, caring, honest and everything I ever wished for. Younger man could never give me all of that.

Honestly? I'm 31 years old and I reached out to a much older man tonight...I'm guessing he's in his 50's/60's and I felt much better with him than anyone else because he was honest with me. I don't think I'd ever date a guy that's that old but the fact that he listened to me and opened the fucking car door is a flipping miracle. It's that simple. Why can't younger men act mature and polite? I just don't get it. All they want to do is mess around. I'm sure a lot of women are like this to....which this guy stated so I don't know. Maybe I'm an old soul though and I believe in romance. Anyways, I'm glad I was able to connect with him because it made me realize that I want and need to be with an older man (probably not that old because it would weird me out) but a guy that's at least 40 years old or someone that's mature.

I loved this video and agree with the message. I have never connected with a guy my age because while they might be 22 like me they still act like they're 18 which is where the whole thing about women maturing quicker comes into play. I have always connected with older guys because I feel I can talk to them on a deeper level and have a good, meaningful conversation. Saying that though I do have a guy friend who is 23 and he is surprisingly on the same maturity level as me which is really really rare, but proves that there are a few rare gems that are in their early 20's. :)

It seems that 20 year old women and 40 year old men is the perfect match.

Speaking from experience I was 26 and dated someone that was 40. It was a lil weird for me at first but it's good to try something new and to see what else is out there and experience new things. It really opened my eyes to what I do and don't like in a man.

So the beginning of this video I had to pause and laugh for 2 minutes before continuing, it was hilarious haha

I dated two women that were much younger than I am. One was a very good relationship that ended because of circumstances out of our control. The other was a COMPLETE disaster. She was far too immature. I also dated a woman that was considerably older than I am. She was the most immature and dishonest out of all of them. In fact she was scandalous. After my experiences I realized that in this day and age, it doesn't make a difference at all. Women today are not the women of our parents' and grandparents' generations. The generation gap has been dramatically narrowed in terms of how older women perceive their roles in society and now they are more independent than ever. With that independence comes the same temptations and urges that younger women have and more often than they care to admit, a large percentage of older women succumb to those urges and temptations. So now my philosophy is, when it comes to dating women in general, "might as well get the young hot one because they all act the same"! :)

TypeAAA you just proved that it's not about age it's about looks. If a man takes care of himself, doesn't let himself go and is generally secure you would date him. There are plenty of decent looking guys in there 30's and 40's that can offer a lot more to women than guys in their 20's.

+TypeAAA I agree with much you said with the exception that I think within a 10 year difference is an okay boundary and not considered gross since it's a similar stage in life and still close enough to have some things in common but not old enough to fall into the category of being someone's parent. That doesn't work below 30 though. There's a bigger gap in maturity between 20 and 30 than any other age group. I also agree that guys shouldn't be looking to date exclusively younger. If they are most likely they have some issues about getting older but the pond definitely grows smaller as we age. I'm in the weird place of not being really old but not being young either (mid-thirties). I imagine if a guy was suddenly single in their 40s or early 50s most likely they would go younger to try and escape baggage. Something most people have plenty of after 30. Women do it too just maybe not to the same scale as men. Doesn't mean it's cool for a 45 yr old to date a 20 yr old but certain age gaps can be reasonable.

doointhedoo Men are no different, though. Recently dodged a bullet with an older man (30 year age gap). He made a decent first impression, but it quickly became obvious he was more turned on by the age gap than me. He clearly didn’t like women. He’d do all the gentlemanly chivalrous gestures (hold doors, pay for everything), but then express contemptuous “humor”. Last straw: he made some pervy comments to me mother about my swimsuit at a pool party. Even though I ‘m middle aged, the dialogue was just plain creepy. He came across as a gross old lecher perving on his neighbor’s young daughter. In contrast, my work has put me in contact with a lot of significantly younger men and I’m stunned at how attractive they are. They look better, they smell better, and they behave much better. Just through casual workplace friendships they’ve introduced me to new things (music and cultural trends) that I really enjoy. I never considered a younger man as a romantic prospect before having these positive experiences. Even if it’s nothing too serious, I prefer to spend time with people who appreciate and enjoy me, not someone who believes they’re entitled to my time and attention.

To be honest, I think dating older guys is a great thing! But, what I've realised now is that age doesn't really matter as much as you get older, and since I'm almost 22, I would date a 30 year old, and, it also depends on what kind of guy he is. Personality pretty much determines what I like, and what I don't.

Sexually it does matter. Young men have such a high sex drive that they can't last in bed. Older guys can make love to you for hours. I realised that growing older (I'm 44 now), you have far more control over your sexuality than when you're in your 20s (not even talking about the teens when it's a freaking nightmare!). You're also far more experienced: At 22, I didn't have a clue how to please a woman in bed. I would just wing it and that's almost always wrong.

Abigeal LaGrange He's trying and taking you lightly,because he does feel a bit odd/weird in contacting you because of the age difference.Its up to you to also be inviting to make his feel comfortable and perhaps that will allow his comfort, confidence and personality to fully come out.It's one part older guys get the guilt trip in the back of their mind that you're young woman and also keeping in mind of the other people's (society) comments kinda hits you at first making you a feel a creep at first in his own mind,but He's just working himself slowly with you because he does find you attractive or else he wouldn't be communicating with you at all and would of continued with his busy life moving on.

I'm going to give you young ladies a piece of advice. I'm 57 and men my age are disgusting. Nose hair, ear hair, bad teeth and over grown eye brows. When guys get to this age (just like women) everything starts to sag, even if they work out...everything eventually goes south. If they ever did have any money, they're most likely paying an ex-wife maintainance and child support. And again at my age...we've got kids in college...and kids in college need money. Most of them are egocentric when they're young and it gets worse over time. Don't do it. As difficult as it may seem, just stick with men your age. You're probably wondering if I date. I don't anymore. I'm educated, I travel and I answer to no one.

I have to disagree...even when I was 19 going on dates with 40 yr olds I've never been into older men so it's solely for "resources" as you put it. Now in my late 30s still not into anyone a lot older than me...usually 5-7 is my cut off. For me I think it stems from my parents' age gap of 11 years...that generation gap was very visible growing up and caused problems. I know some people can make it work and have great relationships but it's just not for me.

A 4-5 year age gap doesn't really matter. My boyfriend and I have a 12 year age gap, and it's by far the best and most mature relationship I've ever been in.

My last relationship the man was 23 years older, and he was definitely not a man I wanted to be with anymore. But the breakup was so much easier than what some younger guys make it. I don’t know, I like the emotional state and mentality older men have. There's an 8 year age gap between my parent's, I've always dated older than me. The time I did date in the same age as me he turned out to be far from suitable and worse. Don't know if I ever would date same age as me again but highly unlikely

That makes sense to not judge so much by age but by character and what the man can bring to the table. I'm considering going out on a date with an older man and this is entirely new for me. This gave me assurance that I can at least handle one date.

I think it is psychological issue force the individual to get comforted and feel love and safe with someone older than him. It is total psychological is not related material purposes.

In my opinion, what makes an older guy attractive is being honest, good hygine, good style and clothing(doesn't have to bw the trend going just decent and clean),staying away from drugs alcohol and smoking,confident,loving and caring,doesn't have to be rich or anything,not trying to change me,likes talking about different subjects, and the very important thing respectful and good table mannerrs P.s gray looks very good on older men

I was 18 when I married a 52 year old man we're still together and I'm 22 and he's 56. It's hard people judge you. I make more money than he does but I'm still looked at it as a ditzy gold digger. There are age-related issues in our relationship. But we love each other and overall I think we're good for one another. His friends are just like go you. But mine are more like what are you doing and they're definitely not on board. And just in general the peer pressure and judgments I feel and hear hurt quite a bit.
