My experience from the beta weekend: I like how getting separated from the rest of the group is pretty much a death sentence now; the larger levels and less linear nature of the levels, plus more spawning points for enemies, means it's easier to get overwhelmed. Quickplay groups are notoriously bad. There's always that one guy that wants to treat the game like a speedrun simulator, never looking back because he just assumes everyone else is on board with blitzing the levels, then ragequits when he dies and nobody can get to him because a horde spawned and there's a lot more emphasis on hunkering down during a horde rather than chopping your way to your other teammates to save them. Also you can't just block revive like in VT. Ogryn is the only class that can revive without being interrupted so it's way more important to not get downed. I love the new challenge. I love the Psyker and can't wait to see the other subclasses.

I was maining a pysker and felt like that dad of the random groups I made sure no one was alone. Constantly keeping an eye on where everyone is and if I see someone split I would go with them to cover them.

The thing with beta builds is that they are usually old versions of the game used in most cases to test networking systems, server loadtesting and bottlenecks. This is probably the same built they used in order to show case the game a couple of months back and it is possible that version was at least 3 to 6 months old already for internat Q&A.

Uhm i very much doubt that, from what i can speculate this beta is at best a month old, since they had a bunch of youtubers release gameplay about a month ago, and for this beta they gave it out a week early to some streamers and content creators and it already said the date of the beta. So im saying its a different beta from the one we saw about a month ago.

The last closed beta was not the same build, that one had only one weapon per slot per class, no progression systems such as the talents or vendors, no cosmetics, and most of the hub was closed off. That one was a very vertical slice and this beta was a bit wider of a slice. I don't belive this beta is indicative of the current build of the game other than perhaps performance and server stability.

I feel like in general this scratches a very specific itch that Vermintide didn't fully do. They really, REALLY nailed the atmosphere and design, aswell as the soundtrack. A lot of the weapons feel good to use with some exceptions. Oh and the axe you were talking about is the Achlyn one, it was my go-to before the Thunderhammer (which is probably the most satisfying melee weapon I've ever used in an FPS/L4D style game and honestly super busted). It does have a bit of an awkward second swing and attack speed in general, but it has monstrous single target stagger and damage to where you can bully Maulers and Crushers by yourself with just repeat heavy spam. Mutants and Hounds were very difficult to play around, either their dodge window is nearly frame-perfect or it's a bit broken. Out of the 30 or 40 mutants encountered over my level 21 Zealot trek, I believe I dodged them four or five times, and that's with having several hundred hours of Cata play in Vermintide 2. The poor performance might've exacerbated the issue a bit however, hard to tell. I do think that some of the "ultimate abilities" or whatever you want to call them can be expanded or modified a bit upon. Not being able to animation cancel the charge on the Zealot and Ogryn was a hassle, aswell as their charges are very similar to eachother in regards to mechanics. It's just the old Zealot vs Foot Knight thing again since they're fuctionally exactly the same.

I play modded cata frequently on V2, and the switch from it to Darktide was jarring. The specials are my main problem, I don't know how to counter any of them even though they're similar to the ones in V2. Dodging seemed inconsistent, especially for mutants and hounds. Mutants were just unfair, in a recent game I was stopped from reviving a teammate 4 times by a single mutant. It would tackle me, toss me, and then as soon as I got to my teammate again to revive it would grab me again. I couldn't stagger it, my ranged weapon wasn't enough to kill it without dying from the horde surrounding me, and i was literally just being tossed around like a baby. To be fair, I'm the one who put myself in that situation, but it still would've been nice to be able to combat that mutant somehow.

I'm definitely with you on that. I don't think I successfully dodged a hound once. The dodge window in the mutant is suuuper tight (example at 7:08) and they are waay too tanky. Personally I'd like to see them able to be staggered or their health pool reduced a bit. They were definitely the main culprit for my games ending. Though, I gotta say I love their design. A big fleshy monster sprinting at you full speed from across the map screaming its head off is quite the experience lol

Honestly both hounds and mutants are pretty easy. It's just a dash with heavy swing and unload. You can hear them from miles away. My big gripe is the trapper. Those are sneaky bastards. Anyway it's clear from a game design perspective why there are there. Don't run alone.

My first impression was the queue to get in, which i REALLY liked. the vibes i got was that the devs came prepared for some reason and it worked awesome. apart from getting a few DC's when i was in the hub i was pretty impressed. i never once got DCed from an ongoing game which surprised me quite a bit to be honest. There were frame drops from time to time but i know that wasn't the point of this test but still, the game felt smooth af. Biggest complain from my side is mainly that the specials are quite hard to identify apart from the dogs or bombers. second complain is that Maulers maybe had a bit too much HP. Other than that i felt pretty good about the game, the combat felt really nice. Could really feel the weapon impact in this game and it was like i was actually hitting someone in the head with an axe (don't question how i know). I do actually have hope about this release, didn't even encounter any mayor bugs which is a huge plus. I wish the devs a happy/successful release so that they may finally release Sienna's fourth class in VT2!

Hey, i think you actually missed out on a bit of stuff! First thing: "Complex Combo, High Skill, Stagger Melee weapon" .... you clearly need to try out the "Thunderhammer" its the special Weapon for the Zealot. (You unlock it at around lv 15), also these 4 classes are just meant to be "Subclasses" for the 4 Classes we will have at launch. (Aka Zealot Preacher is a Melee "Preacher", the "Sharpshooter Veteran" is a "Ranged Specialist" Veteran etc. so we will definitly see more of them.) Also there have already been confirmed a couple other weapons, in the Class Description in the Beta that are just not finished yet. (Flamethrower for Preachers, Stubbers/Boltguns for Ogryns etc.)

What do you think about only 4 classes on the start instead of 12? I feel like the game will get me bored after 1-2 months of play. Because lets be honest, reaching 30 lvls on that 4 classes can be done in like...2 weeks? In V2 we had 15 classes at the start and we could play a lot while waiting for another DLC and classes. Sure we can play 4fun and farm, but waiting 3 months for only one class? I am concerned

  • @warmgunproduction4545

    @warmgunproduction4545

I get the concern, as I am a bit as well. Though, as I say in the video it could be made up for by other things like the 70+ weapons that will be in the game or the gadget system that we don't really know anything about. That might be copium but I just don't think we can confidently say there's not enough variance in the game when we don't have the full scope of the game.

Think of it this way - Vermintide 1 had just 5 characters (still more than 4, I know), no class abilities, but I still spent almost 400 hours on that game. Vermintide 2 on the other hand? Didn't really grow on me for some reason, so I only played it during a free weekend. Take this how you will.

@@warmgunproduction4545 There's not 70+ weapons. A lot of them are reskins that may not even differ in mechanics, they just have different stats. From the looks of what has been revealed so far, Darktide has about as many weapons as VT2 does. Fatshark is doing a lot of straight up lying in their marketing for this game (such as their claim that classes are not the same as careers - they absolutely are), they do not have 70+ weapons.

@@mastercheif978 They've also said they are considering monetising the new classes, which is frankly extremely insulting to the players, especially because the company describes themselves as "pro-player" - they're absolutely not, the fact they're even considering making the classes DLC is scummy enough in itself, and if they were truly pro-player they wouldn't be so dedicated to obfuscating weapon information in their own games

Veteran player. Yes, you're shooting more often, and that's the point. Stay far enough back and take potshots at the important threats when possible. Use your kill shot to spot said enemies and pop them in the head. But remember to return to your team to help them handle hordes with frags and faster toughness recharge. Assuming they stick together. Oh, and keep your ears open and head on a swivel.

2:35 "people complain that the lasgun feels weak" 4:15 "the lasgun i did not play with as much" its because it was woefully underpowered, a whole clip wont kill an armoured mauler, on 2nd difficulty, with a 270 powered lasgun(which for those who don't know, are weapons that should be used within tier 3~4 difficulty give or take) id agree the ogyrn feels like and is in a good state, i do feel though his grenade launcher should explode every time, not just sometimes. the psyker is also in a good spot and nicely powered in all aspects, the vet i think they were stumped with, the special ability is meh, the weapons are meh unless you take the shotgun/stubgun with the range of the lasgun and 35X the stopping power speaking of stub gun, how does a gun with bullets so small kill so much more effectively than an autogun with bigger bullets and a larger mag? its these types of things they need to look into.

As far as I can tell, the lasgun has moderately high base damage, but very low damage to armored enemies. And the mauler may even be classified as "super armor" like chaos warriors are in VT2. The problem is, the beta doesn't communicate this at all. From playing with a few good vets, they were killing the specials with the lasgun before I could pop their heads, but when the maulers came in, the lasgun turned into a spitball blowpipe. I'm really hoping they fix the information problem that was present in the beta.

To be honest I think the Vet ability was the one I used the most frequently, the instant wall hacks are especially useful for spotting the snipers sitting in complete darkness in bumf*** nowhere and blasting specials with the extra damage. It's definitely useful though I get if you just mean the feel of it with it's power not being as obvious as charging through a horde and knocking everything over as Ogryn

_"Lasgun feels week"_ . . . Yup... This is standard imperial guard equipment alright ! Surprisingly, for the little I was able to unlock in term of fire power, I think the Lasgun were the best tools so far (followed by the shotgun). Two points being : accuracy and ammo efficiency. You had access to battle rifle and lmg later on, both having stronger kick and cc, with a better piercing through armors, but with very little magazines... so, I ended up reloading constantly in fight. t'was a higher risk, you had to count yer shots. Decent when mastered, probable more efficient on long terms... but still a bit tidious. I believe this can be scaled in our favor later in game, with the career choice (that will most likely happen). Or maybe customisation of pour guns. My only regret, I with there was more active abilities in our arsenal... It could still happen. In the meantime, I shall wait to serve the Emperor once more with Glee.
