Is Crossfit BAD For You? Reacting To Joe Rogan & CT Fletcher [REACTION]

Спорт

Reacting to Joe Rogan and CT Fletcher discussing Crossfit and whether or not it's bad for your health.
Focusing on just one aspect of moving, like endurance, seems like such a waste - it's like eating the same food your entire life.
It's not like endurance training by itself is bad, it's a great enabler for being able to move more, but when you isolate it and work just on that, you're missing the bigger picture of what your body can do.

In social media content is king, in CrossFit, it's injuries.

Hello~ I saw you as I was trying to do exercises. That’s nice and all but I’m also *really* into grounding rn. If you could do a video on how you can stay actually grounded, I would count stumbling upon this channel an absolute blessing. Also, idk if you care but I haven’t had the best childhood and so I’m looking to feel safe and regain stability and a sense of grounded ness. So far, I do beleif change or whatever it’s called (I made it up myself as the videos on KZread about “grounding” do not help AT ALL for people who actually need it. They tell me to stare at red and feel my chakra like ?? People who can feel those properly most likely don’t need actual grounding lessons right? Just touch ups? Anyway, sorry if this is a lot hehe hope you have a lovely day) Ps: I can feel the rest of them, just not the red one. I can also do things IRL, it’s just the red one that needs help

I dont know much about crossfit, I do want to have a strong cardio system though as tested by the Concept2,good interval times , 2K 5K. I recently stumbled over volume time training to build capacity for work but otherwise apart from standard gym stuff I want to add more Of Ben Patrick's ideas into what I do which have a longevity angle. So for me mastering a Nordic curl would be more interesting than doing some crossfit challenge

Working on your cardio system is amazing, go for it. my only issue is if that's all you do. Just an FYI on nordics - after some time it can cause some knee pain becaue of all of the load on them, so try to use super soft surfaces for your knees

People that teach Crossfit are labelled as "coaches" instead of "trainers" so they aren't liable when you get injured.

Like any other sport Crossfit can be fatigue seeking. Especially when you do it too much, when you go too heavy and take no proper rest. I am 45, I have been doing Crossfit for 4 years now and I have never been so fit in my life as I am now. To be honest I giggled when I heard the label 'girly'. I have seen quite some gym guys, way younger than me, come into my Box. Picture perfect (with some help of a needle here and there no doubt) physique. And I have seen them 'die' during the most simplest WOD's. Anyways, I think it all bottles down to approach/goal setting, as with everything you do in life. Do you train for fun? Do you train for longevity? Do you train to perform? I agree on proper form. There is just so much to Crossfit that it really takes a lot of time to reach proper form, if ever. And yes, I admit that also I compensate more than I'd like to admit. Been thinking to do some movement classes Ido Portal style ;-)

Thanks you so much for that feedback :) Definitely agree with the picture perfect dudes not being able to compete with crossfit dudes, makes all the sense in the world. And true - it's all about your goals and how aware you are of the price you pay. Definitely try some movement classes if u can :)
