In Biblical times, the age gap was even greater. Older men would often marry women barely out of their teens, because that left more time for them to have babies and raise a family. The whole notion of an "unjust disparity" is mostly a modern concept.

This is exactly why their wedding was very private! For vile envious people like this in the internet. This is sad. I’m 24 and my boyfriend is 40, which would make us the same age gap as Chris Evan’s and his wife. I met him about a year ago which was when we started dating. There has never been an “imbalance of power” , we get along great, we contribute to each others lives, we share the same values and beliefs and we’re both very much in love and plan to be married. Im happy for you. My wife was 30 when we met. I was 47. So we had a 17 year gap but it was never ever an issue. It actually enriched us culturally since, for example, we shared music from different eras. In the end, things didn’t work out but, again, it wasn’t the age gap. One amusing story where age perhaps got in the way: when her sister got married, all the couples were in their early 40s while I was in my mid 50s. I was getting tired, having helped set the wedding up, driving and picking things up. Then came the wedding and then the reception and then everyone wanted to go clubbing. Well, I’ll admit, I was ready to go to the hotel and crash but I refused to be the one to slow the party down. In the end, I was the last man standing. Danced the night away but I was so happy to get back to my hotel bed. 😂 I digress. I wish you and your hubby many years of love❤ and happiness.

What I love about being with someone about my age is we get each other from a generational point our energy levels are the same and he's aging very well! He looks older than me but hey I like what I see. Thank God for my youthful face still! But yeah Yeah I can have alot in common with older men. There was a 26 year gap between me and my husband. He was the love of my life, after being widowed I never remarried because there was no other man who could have treated me as good or better than he did. He was my biggest supporter, he was a hard worker, he took me and my two sons and raised them as his own with no support from their bio father. He was just an amazing man I was blessed to have him in my life for 20 years before he died of cancer. The age difference just seemed to disappear we had so much in common. Anyone who met him just loved him. So just respect her choices she is old enough and has had enough of an adult life to know what she wants in a husband.

My husband and I met just over two years ago when he was 41 and I was 20 & 1/2. Got engaged after 10 months, married 3 months after that, and now I'm currently 6m pregnant with our first and could not be happier. Same. There is an almost 13 year age gap between me and my husband.My husband was almost 18 when I was 5. When you put it that way, yeah it sounds creepy. But we didn't meet when I was 5. We met a couple of months before I turned 25 and he was 37 almost 38 at the time. We had dated for a year by the time we got married. We've been together for 7 years and married for 6.We have a healthy relationship and marriage, and two beautiful children together. We even make jokes about our age gap sometimes. It helps that my husband also doesn't look his age too. Because most people assume he's in his 30s when we are together and are flabbergasted when they find out his age and people compliment him. We have pretty similar personalities, likes and dislikes. He's currently 44 and I'll be 32. We are two mature and consenting adults and that's all that matters. And it's great that we can tease and poke fun at each other for our age gap.

As someone who has a 17 year age gap and been married for 20 years now, this is annoying. People used to make comments about my husband “robbing the cradle” and it made me mad because they knew nothing about us and just judged. I have always been an old soul and he was always younger at heart. We we’re friends first for a long time and he didn’t even realize our age gap was that much because I was always mature and looked older too. When we realized we had feelings for each other wasn’t weird at all! He wasn’t a creep! He broke up with me briefly when he realized the age gap because he was worried about it. That didn’t last long though because we just made too much sense together to be apart! It was only people that didn’t know us that tried to make it weird. I don’t expect everyone to understand, I really don’t care to be honest. We are happy and that’s all that matters. My brother has an age gap with his wife (her being older), her daughter is my age actually. They never had children together because she already had her tubes tied before they started dating. My husband’s cousin has a very similar story with his wife. They’ve all been together a long time. That being said what works for some won’t work for everyone. Because It can have its challenges too. So every situation is totally different!

Right there with you. Husband's eight years older than me, and it's a great match. I figured out early on it was a waste of time dating men my age -- all they wanted was to get laid and they were lazy, to boot, not to mention immature and threatened by my education and career. My husband? Not remotely. He's been hugely supportive and super proud. But that's the difference between a man and a boy. I, for one, wish these two much happiness together.

This is what happens when we live in a time where we consider anyone under 35 a child. I hear it all the time. Kids this, kids that. They're not kids! They are full grown adults.

I'm 41. Only date girls between 18 and 24. And only from Eastern Europe, Russia or South East Asia. Most Western women 30+ are furious when they figure out i have no interest in them. And the reason is simple. I'm 6'1, in great shape, most women seem to find me attractive. And i'm financially solid. I'm these women's back up plan. They thought that after screwing around and focusing on education and career in their 20's a guy like me would be there waiting for them in their 30's or 40's. They didn't care to support me when i was working 80 hours a week to make something of myself. They didn't struggle with me. They had no interest in building together. They had no interest in doing the race together. They thought they could just wait at the finish line, F the winner, and claim half the price money. No thanks, i'm good. I have no need for a partner after i already won the race. I can spend that price money on my own. I don't need any help with that.

My Grandfather asked my Grandmother to marry him after only knowing her a week. He was 37, she was 22. They were married almost 50 years before Grandpa passed. They had five children and nine grandchildren, all of whom loved them very much. They are my greatest example of a successful and happy family life. The age difference never came into question. It was perhaps the least interesting thing about them.

'horrors of real child marriage.' Teen marriage was *routine* in every society in the world until recently. It used to be *typical* for women to have several children before they turned 20. The application of magical cutoffs between when marriage is appropriate or inappropriate is recent and mostly arbitrary. Take a dive through your own family genealogical records, sometime, and count up all the 'horrors' in your own family. Modern people are stupid.

They don't care about that. All those remarks have selfishness at their core : they write these things in an attempt to convince other people to believe what they believe (maybe they're not even aware themselves of exactly why they're doing what they're doing). It's just a powerless person's attempt to seize any power they can get - in this case trying to influence what you believe, and if they succeed then they feel better. A fool's hope + desire to be negative. It's not about what's true and moral.

Ok, honestly, when I was 18, i thought a 5 year age gap was pushing the limit.. but now in my 30s, a 10-15 year age gap doesn’t seem like much. People mature at different ages and some people don’t mature at all. At 26, nobody “forces” you to get married or be in a relationship at all.

Yeah. At 24, I wouldn't be comfortable with most 18/19 year olds tbh. But I know that'll change as I'm older. Especially since after an age like 25, both of you will tend to be fully developed mentally and know what you want. Heck, my sister at 27 was dating 35 year old men which seemed weird to me at first but when I look at a lot of them now compared to her, I can see it.

So minors can consent to transitioning but a 26 year old can’t get married? I’m not a fan of Chris Evans but I’m happy for him that’s he’s found someone to potentially spend his life with. HELL Aaron Taylor-johnson was most likely groomed since he married his 40+ years old, director (for his movie at that time) wife at the age of 18 after filming wrap. The wife also talked about being stunned and mesmerized (and how she saw John Lennon in him) by a then 17-18 years old Aaron when he came for audition. How come she's praised for breaking barrier? 32 years ago I married a girl 14 1/2 years younger than me. So many were outraged and upset. Most of them were jealous of our happiness. I wish Chris and Alba 32 years, nay a lifetime of happiness together.

They have a problem with it because it is a threat to feminism. Men becoming established and dating younger is a threat to men and women both working and being "equal" in the home, and a threat for these women to use all their 20's getting a career and then hoping to still find a husband
