@@quasxen I feel like you are taking sides and that’s something that probably is a result from one spouse putting their kids against the other. my mom does that too all the time and if I wasn’t grounded I would hate my dad by now. I think it’s very important to remember that your parents are both individuals with each their own romantic needs that kids can not fulfill. I would hate to loose either one of them so I try to nurture a good “ child and parent relationship “ with each of them not getting too involved into their marital problems with good self discipline although they’re always trying to involve the kids. A marriage can end with a divorce (a sad reality of life ) but parents are forever that’s another way of looking at things

@@hia5235 It is still possible, but people choose not to make those commitments to their spouse because we have a cultural attitude that makes the relationship transactional rather than covenantal. People just decide that if their feelings change (and they're going to because that's how feelings work) that they can break off their marriage because it's "just a contract" when in reality it's so much more than that. If you don't mind me being a little personal... It sounds like you're coming from a history of broken relationships, and I get it, it's easy to become cynical when what you know is painful. I want to point out though, divorce rates are actually declining as more and more young people are rebelling against the attitudes of people in their 30s-50s who have higher rates of divorce. People in their 20s are recognizing that marriage is built on friendship, (behavioral) consistency, and teamwork, so they're taking "'til death do us part" as seriously as that statement demands to be taken. There's still hope, that is, if you're willing to honestly assess your attitudes and make adjustments.

Contrary to popular belief, divorce is one of the top hardest things a person can endure. A person I know described it as no different from dealing w/ a death. Divorce wasn’t common back in the day bc women rarely had rights, couldn’t even have a bank account. They relied heavily on their men for everything so if that marriage was shit, they were forced to stay.

There's an old saying that we used to teach people. The grass is always greener on the other side. It was something people used to tell them when they thought they were unhappy in their marriage and wanted to try something different. Of course something different looks better. You don't know about its flaws. This is why divorce should only be for abusive relationships. People should actually have to think about marriage before they get involved in it. Make the decision to actually spend your entire life with the person before you decide to spend your entire life with the person. No fault divorce has made marriage not marriage. It's just a long-term relationship.

  • @MamaMOB

    @MamaMOB

@@__gemoftheeast divorce wasn't common back in the day because when you sign a contract to say you're going to spend your entire life with someone you've signed a contract saying you're going to spend your entire life with someone. Unless that person did something like beat you above the law you couldn't divorce. But if he did beat you above the law you could. Yeah we had a lot of fucked up laws back then but we had a lot more happy marriages. Now that women can decide they want to fuck the plumber they can get divorced. And they do! Absolutely destroying the institution of marriage. Marriage is not just a long-term relationship. It is a never-ending contract that you've made not only with your partner but with your families and your higher power. If you don't mean it don't make it. And if you mean it stick by it. Life is a struggle and if you can't figure out how to struggle through things with one person you won't be able to figure it out with another.

I am a child of divorced parents and I seriously think it impacts the children more than the parents. Eventually, these kids are going to hear personal stories from their parents not to mention from the internet about "who's in the wrong" and in a way it feels as if your parents want you to choose. They may not deliberately say it or may even say they don't want them to hate the other parents, but kids take things literally when you tell them especially when it concerns their parents whom they view as perfect before realizing they aren't. My heart definitely goes out to their children.

Not that I am defending being this fake but it's just another public divorce where someone gets trashed in order for the other to gain favor, this time it's just the man doing it instead of the woman. And tbh, custody is one of those reasons where I totally understand the couple getting into shit like this. It's just very sad.

Celebrity marriages of people in the primes of their careers are doomed to fail, especially with children. Neither parent will want to make the necessary sacrifices to do the boring things like stay and home, to follow their partner's schedules, etc. It's sad but it just makes sense. Being an actor or musician requires constant traveling and grueling work hours, which makes normal marriage life difficult already.

I bet there were other parents too since those parties are for the whole cast and crew. And the actors are even expected to go since everyone knows them and it's a time for them to also schmooze with the director and producers as well. So it's both to have a good time but also kind of expected as part of the job.

In all honesty, and this is something I learnt when my daughter was born, divorce shouldn't even be an option when you have kids together and is detrimental to our society as a whole. Divorce was an option for toxic and abusive marriages, not a get out of marriage card. And I've seen it used so callously. As parents, you should place your differences aside and be there for the kids as an unified couple. I doubt I'll ever get there with my daughter's mother, but I knew my Dad's parents did it for most of their marriage.

As a single mother a completely agree with you. When you make a commitment to someone either mean it or don't make it. If you commit your life to someone and then choose to bring more life into that situation what right do you have to destroy that for that new life? What right do you have to destroy your child's family? And why didn't you think of that before you had children? Why didn't this woman decide she wanted to go out and fuck everything that moved and drink every drop of alcohol before she had two kids? Why is it that women are allowed to backtrack into being children whenever the fuck we want? You're 100% right. Divorce was meant for abusive relationships not because you want to fuck the cute plumber.

As someone who has seen nasty divorces in family (not my parents thank God but other relatives), there’s never only one party at fault. That’s such an outlier. 9/10 times it’s the fault of both people. For a recent example, my brother in law divorced his wife last year. They had never communicated their long term goals to each other and suddenly realized two years into marriage that their visions of their future were totally incompatible. Different political leanings, different morals, different places they wanted to live, one wanted kids while the other didn’t. They never had these conversations because they got married after only being together for 4 months. That’s why I made it a priority to discuss values and long term goals with my fiancé very early on in our relationship. We may not have everything in common but we share values and want to live long term in the same place. We both know for a fact that we want children. These are things to consider.

Indian Arranged marriages only happen after the couple discusses what they want in life and it can happen within a month of meeting if everything aligns. And these marriages are successful. It's like formal dating, where life priorities take precedence over present feelings. Of course, I am not saying this method is foolproof, but a lot of us save a lot of heartache when we treat marriage as a rite of life rather than this marvelous adventure that might lose its charm after the initial thrill is gone.

I think part of the problem with Hollywood marriages is that it's only glitz and glamor, nothing substantial, so when the next glitzy thing comes along, it's new and fun and attention grabbing. No motivation to work through anything, it's all disposable.

Speaking from experience. I used to never be able to stand being at home, I always had to be doing something, playing something, or being with friends. Now that I have a became a father, I am the biggest homebody ever. 95% of my family and friends don’t even see me more than once a year, if that. People change,

Why isnt anybody here calling Joe out? It seems that when it comes to critize a woman, everyone is quick to do so and go along with it but as soon as the focus is on the man, he gets the benefit of the doubt? Weird.

  • @thegoodpharmacist0

Nope...introverts will understand that Sophie is not saying anything because it's all just stressful. Making calls to PR team, leaving the house to meet lawyers, trying to set all those other bullshit are all too much work. She'd probably just try to talk him out of the divorce or maybe just patiently wait for the papers. As for child custody, I'm sure she isn't gonna stress him too much about it either. Kinda, just getting it over with.

the only thing we know, which is an undeniable fact, is that she has been in the UK without the girls for at least 4 months now. In Italy they say that those who remain silent consent

Those who remain silent are smarter. They speak when they see it more opportune and beneficial for them and when they do they usually take their time to think about what they are going to say VS those who can’t stop talking, changing their story because they can’t keep track of every bullshit they say.

They really should have discussed such things before the marriage and certainly before kids. But these are rich people that will most likely continue to become more rich for the next 20 years. If the children are at an age where they can change schools without major trauma then it should be discussed. But, otherwise, let the children remain with friends and family they are used to. Mom or Dad can easily afford to fly them out or themselves in for their month. Rich people fly all over for much less.
