Ойын-сауық

The wings were originally custom made to complete the look of the lingerie they were paired with for the fashion show. There was a specific aesthetic, a precise vision, that the wings complemented. When they're paired with random casual outfits, that's what makes them look cheap, because they're reduced to costume accessories with no cohesion in the overall look.

Yes sales were declining bc of the lack of representation but how exactly were they “shaming” “Real women”? Using a specific demographic of insanely beautiful women to promote a product is not shaming those who don't fit in that demographic… also are said insanely beautiful women not included in the “real women” category? Can you elaborate bc you, like many others seem to be contorting what the VS brand was actually doing…

@@ARUchannel1so the former and current models are not ‘real women’? Maybe their original declining sales was due to more competition now that the internet is widespread and quick shipping/delivery is widespread? VS was selling a fantasy. Do you see Nike use overweight or mediocre athletes to sell their merchandise? No, they had Michael Jordan. Same thing, a fantasy. VS would have been wise to use common sense and kept the supermodels but expand their sizing available in stores and catalogs.

My impression of it was they were selling us a FANTASY. The point was to bring something beautiful and special into your everyday life. You'd see something cute on a beautiful woman dressed as a fantasy angel, go buy it, and have a piece of that fantasy with you while shopping for groceries. I get the original intent though. We don't need to punish the women; obviously, but Victoria's Secret hosting a fashion show with only size 2 models sends a subliminal message. Women don't have to be size 2 to be beautiful or to make a bra look good. There is something in between a size 2 and a size 14. Including some healthy-weight, attractive models alongside their often underweight (but also very attractive) models would promote a more healthy body image. Think women like Kate Upton, etc.

In my family, and many other Swedish families, the Victoria Secrets Fashion show was a nice christmas tradition, becuase the show was broadcasted at christmas every year here. We loved the glittery, sparkly, fairytale and joyful show. It was wonderful to see the different sceneries, we were transported from the Scottish highlands to a candystore, to the mystical middle east, to a busy New York city street. It was a fairytale! And the angels were like fairytale creatures. I especially remember that year when Katy Perrey was singing "Fireworks", and I felt so uplifted (as a woman, "I am fireworks). I did not ever felt less worth as a person or a woman because of the angels, on the contrary. The angels were fairytale creatures and no need to compare too. And they smiled and looked happy. Every fashion show nowdays the models looks like either that they want to punch someone or start crying. This commercial looks like the models have a laundry day and just throw on what ever they had at home that was not going in the laundry. Awful!!. Not everything needs to be "reinvented"!!

As long as they meet the dress standards, are properly trained and know the importance of giving 5 star service. I work in an environment where we have all kinds of people, goth, young, old, etc. I myself am almost 70 years old. But I have seen where, when customers are given the quality service, the piercings, etc are no longer what is noticed. Too bad that restaurant isn't training and demanding that type of adherence to the level of service an expensive restaurant should be giving.

So many ridiculous things that the art ended up being mediocre at best... I think this is an example of that as well. Everybody had to have their say and you ended up with mediocre... Also, there's a decline and creativity across the board from movies that continually want to make remakes or continuations because they have no new ideas. "Obese" is not a body type, it's an unhealthy lifestyle. I think body representation is great, however, the whole point of the VS show is "other worldly" thin girls that you don't see in everyday life, styling VS lingerie. On another note, if skinny girls scantily at fashion shows offends you, don't watch the show, it's that simple. I'd have to be anorexic to fit in anything under size 7, because that's not the size my body is built to be, but I don't go around shaming girls for being skinny, and demanding people view me as the ideal body standard. Live your own life instead of demanding the world to fit your ideal.

Most women don’t look like the models but they want the fantasy of wearing what they wear. When you see an obese woman in lingerie it just ruins it for you. And it’s not visually pleasing to see a large woman with her rolls, double chin and cellulite waddling down the runway. They just didn’t want the backlash from these body positive people. It’s not like the obese people could boycott them and have it affect their sales because they didn’t fit in their clothes to begin with. When they went woke that’s when then they lost some of their customers.

Although those girls look absolutely amazing on stage, in real life most of these girls would look super weird. There’s no way in hell I would ACTUALLY wanna look like a Victoria’s Secret model. Have you ever asked a girl how she feels about her body when she’s between 5’9 to 6 foot? It ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. Let these giraffe type women have their thing. But the places that had sizes that fit were not flattering and didn’t made you feel good about yourself. As I’m on my health and fitness journey now I get the not normalizing unhealthy lifestyles but fitness takes time and I believe it’s important to feel confident in the body you’re currently, while working towards your goals

Coming from a plus size person myself , I hate whenever a brand tries to be inclusive they make everything ugly like why can’t it still be beautiful! It’s like they’re deliberately trying to make them look ugly just because they should include them. It’s ridiculous! And I agree they’re supposed to earn the wings and should be wearing what they sell.

I worked for VS from 2010 to 2016 at the store level(best retail job I've ever had). The creativity and designs were over the top and I loved it lol! The story that they would tell with the colors and theme of each launch was wonderful. The best was working shipment and seeing all the new product (and spending a portion of my check lol). It was a great company to be apart of. Especially the Holiday launches and floor sets! PINK Nation events, the PINK dogs, VIP Only Shopping events. Back then, the creativity made people want to come in and shop. Sadly, now I go past their stores and I'm like...eh. Bring back the Angels and the fun!

Never understood why someone needs to see someone who "looks like them" in the media to feel represented or feel like they can relate to them. As a scrawny ten year old boy I was able to feel a deep draw to many character in the media of old (both real and fictional) that were huge, ripped and superhuman. For me it was Goku, Piccolo & Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. I know that people have their opinions about anime and say what you will, but they exemplified the "never give up" attitude. As a kid who played sports I was inspired by them to believe that so long as I wanted something bad enough and "trained" hard enough I could achieve my goals and become the best version of myself. Again these character were fictional and for those who do not know, one was a even green skinned demon alien from another planet. Doesn't get any less "looks like me" than that imo.

@mystika you replied about society only valuing you if you looked like Goku. Funny enough I guess you deleted your reply to this comment. The point wasn't about whether I felt valued if I LOOKED like Goku it was the fact that even though I didn't look like Goku I could still connect to him because of his values and principles. In fact his character pushed me to be a better soccer player as a child. Instead of training to get bigger, I took it as training to become more skilled. Either way the point is about how he had a positive impact on people regardless of skin color or gender despite what western society pushed and continues to push.

May I mention that some of the original modes were mothers? And as someone who has brought 3 soon to 4 babies into the world through my body, I know first hand how hard it is to get back in shape afterwards. And when I saw(to name a few) Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Candace Swanapole and Adriana Lima, who walked I believe like less than two months after giving birth, *wow*, strutting down that runway ,I felt like despite that im not a tall beautiful modlle and they dont know me from adam, we ALL had something in common. Motherhood. By thier self discipline and determination, they set examples for young women that motherhood, despite what everyone preaches, truly doesn't ruin your life or your body. It just takes time and and hard work. ***To me, they modeled so much more than lingerie. And I'm sure thousands of other mothers around the world would agree with me.***

I agree, you explained it well. the motherhood aspect humanises them. Even though their lifestyle allows and even pushes them to eat right and exercise to achieve quick results, it's still praise worthy. I'm a mother of 2, and despite never putting on much weight throughout my life, I'd bounced back to pre pregnancy body about 6 months PP by just breastfeeding. I still suffer from pelvic pain 2.5 years on now, and it's shifted my thought process. I'd do anything to feel strong and less achy, 'looking good' isn't my priority as it was before kids. That's the goal now. But it's hard with 2 little boys keeping me busy😅

I agree 100%! I've birthed 5 babies, and got my body back in shape. It was inspiring to see these beautiful women back on the runway after having babies... a testament to the beauty, grace, and resilience of real women. I quit buying from VS many years ago... they used to sell classy clothing that I'd wear to work when I had a professional job, hell my mother used to order clothes from their mail order catalog way before the internet... but they quit selling those and only carried slouchy sorority girl dorm-wear and crazy uncomfortable lingerie. It felt like they were pandering to college girls using daddy's credit card and not real grown ass women. Zero respect for what a mature woman wants to feel attractive, let alone a mother... like their lingerie can support women getting knocked up, but nothing after that. All these bras, you'd think they could make a nursing bra that doesn't look frumpy and sad, but no. You'd think they would carry nice clothing like they used to, but no. Now it's just cramming unhealthy images down our throats and calling it "hate speech" when we don't like it.
