Is the music at 22' 03'' an original? I've heard you strum those four chords before and really liked it. I'm wondering if this is one of the songs you recently recorded?

I'm so stoked you've noticed!! Yes, this is an original song! 😃🙌 releasing soon... 👀
Whenever I've busked, it does feel like it's a total 'hit or miss' and nothing to do with how I've played. I think if you approach it with this in mind, you'll have the best experience.

Totally agree - I actually think it's that kind of 'mystical' part of busking that adds to the magic! You never really know how it will turn out and it means it's never repetitive... no matter how it goes, it almost always is a good story! it's so cool! 😃🙌
Again we are in accord. I agree with you about the sunglasses. They may look cool, but they also set up a barrier between performer and audience. It may be true that the eyes are the window to the soul. 🤔 I think eyes are so important in making connections. I look at the people going by, but I’m sure I save the special smiles and silly faces for children and dogs. Children and dogs are cool. It makes their adults smile too. I noticed the sunglasses thing when I used to work annually with storytellers on a summer project. The shades definitely hampered communication.

It's something I've always felt! I totally agree - eye contact seems to be so important, there's probably subtle communications that we do through them without realising 👀 I like what you've said about children and dogs making their adults smile - very true! 😃🙌
I have to admit, Brighton is lovely, good music scene and lovely surroundings.

Honestly, it's my favourite place in the UK. I'm so grateful I get to live here. Step outside and smile very single day 😃🙌
Don't know why your channel isn't bigger, you are by far the best busking channel on youtube with very professionally made videos. You inspired me to go busking for the first time (I live in london so found the concept quite intimidating). It went really well and made over 40 quid in an hour. Thank you so much :), maybe we'll meet in the street sometime

Great to see, how you were positively surprised by your "home city". Is it a difference, busking "at home", btw? You may meet more people you know. And some are perhaps surprised to see you in the street busking, because they know you from other, - non music -, places or occasions (neighborhood, job, fitness center e.g...)? Have you had, maybe funny or interesting, experiences or reactions from those kind of people? And a little update to my "busking progress": Well, yesterday I tryed my equipment for the first time outdoor, testing it on our parking ground. I wanted to know, how loud the amp could be (can't test that at my flat ;-) ) how far can you hear it and how the mix of playback music and my voice must be at that volume level. Was a good step. Best thing was, a jogging woman stopped, and started a conversation with the words "Oh, music is always great", than I explained, what i was doing there and she ended with "Keep doing it. You a have a great voice!" So, my very first human contact while singing outdoors couldn't be better :-) So, next step is - going to the city and start my first busk! I keep you informed...

That's so awesome - I love that you had a 'busking moment' despite not actually being out busking! Get used to it as that's the type of thing that will happen once you are out on the street itself 😃🙌 stoked for you! Busking where I live, I see people I know all the time. Sometimes I go to the shop and people come up to ask if I'll be out busking soon... it's awesome!! To be honest, my favourite interactions are when someone comes up and tells me they've seen these videos - it's always so rad! ✌
Great video! I do the same, say yes to the gig and work out the details later!

Great video. I've busked all over UK and I found that in Brighton I have to work twice as hard for half the money! Defo one of my least fave busking towns

I'm trying to summon the confidence to go out and try a busk... I also live in brighton. practicing at home I've "learned" hundreds of songs over the years... but to truly memorise and play without a chord sheet at least it diminishes to about ten... but those ten are so varied I'm not sure it's a good set list. I can make loops and jam well in blues, funk, Latin, and hendrix style... but feel that's less engaging than vocals for people?

Sometimes I play solo guitar ( chet Atkinson stuff and occasionally the clap) sometimes solo fiddle. This goes down fine. If I make a guitar loop and play fiddle over the top it goes down the best. Some of my singing gets ignored and some produces a lovely response, like " oh you just played my favourite song hers a fiver". It's about playing and having an up beat attitude. Sometimes I make loads sometimes literally nothing. Do it and you will develop.

Honestly I think the best bet is to just go out and try it. Try your 10 songs, even if they're varied and also try doing some loops - just get used to how it feels out there! As you head out more, you'll figure out what works best for you... you can also use the busking time as a means of rehearsing other songs, especially the ones that you 'sort of' know or perhaps aren't feeling too confident about - busk them a few times and they'll become solid 😃🙌 Brighton has a few spots which don't get too busy (seafront on the week days), so maybe head down and just give it a 'no pressure' try!

I love busking in brighton too! It seems like the crowds have died down a little bit tho, or it might have been bc its a Friday and its worse weather.
