those shows are more for r&b soul pop type singers, not rock n roll type 🎸 or rock n roll songwriters. Cheers Andres, best to both you guys, each are unique and bring sunshine to others.

Kudos to the house band on the voice! To be able to react, find the key from a couple of notes from the singer and kick it in full bore... That's true professionalism!

Hey Ben nice and insightful video ! I must say I was never a great fan of these " talent " competitions, but I can well understand that many people enjoy this format and follow it weekly ! Just not my cup of tea I guess ! But sure that young man has an amazing voice of that there is no doubt !!

Me too Brian, I don't know that I've ever watched an episode of any of the many that have aired. I only know now how the Voice works because Andres told me! 🙌 😀 in all honesty, my favourite "x-factor" moment is when everyone bought RATM 'Killing in the Name' and got it to Xmas number one!

What an interesting and well produced episode. Andres is a very talented musician, and both of you together was very cool. That Showbox PA really shined for 2 buskers together, Keep up the great work, and go ahead and pursue The Voice,

Amazing man. A really cool video this is. Well done to you both, and as mentioned last week, was superb to meet you both in Kingston, and thank you André for sharing your story with us followers. Interesting process that is, especially the Bruno Mars opportunity was fascinating. Also Ben, just have become a patreon of yours and you have inspired me to start the Jack Timer youtube channel. So this is my aim for the next step on my journey. It's good to capture the moments that are happening on the go and make a community with likeminded people. Well done.

'Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity' more nuggets of wisdom. Interestingly, I met Hayley Chart, runner up on the voice this year while she was busking in Reading (your favourite place 😊) recently. I think it's important to recognise the distinction between musicians as artists and singers who perform songs as entertainers. Most original musician and artists would not fit the mould of the voice casting.

That's so interesting eh! I wonder what she says when folks tell her she should go on the Voice... "err, I've actually already been on!" Andres told me that he sometimes gets people say it and he has to tell them he was already on it! 😂 I personally wouldn't go on it, but I think it's interesting to hear from folks who have! 😀 🙌

I imagine it could open doors into the industry, or generate useful contacts. If that's your bag. And it would be useful experience and insight into mainstream broadcasting. You would have to approach something like that with a realistic mindset and intention.

I’ve been told the same thing, specially by kids in the days when I used to run music workshops in schools … “Ooh sir, you should go on Britain’s Got Talent or X-Factor. Er, no I can’t think of anything that would thrill me less. No thanks! Interesting to see you talking with another busker, but don’t forget you need to earn some readies for yourself!

Go for the experience - all experience is good. Ed Sheeran didn't make Brit School, and Chinchilla didn't make the voice past the first stage despite a stunning performance of "I Put a Spell on You" - it's on KZread. Go check it out! Chinchilla is still awesome and retains her strong fan base 🎉

Today, 6/7/24 a woman liked my fiddle playing, while I was busking. She invited me to a string quartet performance of Shostakovich music. Of course I grabbed the opportunity. So I go to the gig expecting a local music teacher band. No! It was the BRODSKY QUARTET dude. I was invited by Jacqui Thomas, a world class cello player. Best BEST busk of my life. Got £65 too BTW. THE BRODSKY QUARTET I am humbled so deeply. Why did this happen? BUSKING!

Nice. Brought back some memories for me. I tried out for one those type shows. It was a pilot bake in 04 I think. Houston TX. The show never took off so it didn't go anywhere. But it was enough of an experience for me that I didn't want to do it again. The voice though seems like it is at least actually looking for talent. What they were looking for in Houston was a certain look and personality. More of a reality show where they get a bunch of young kids living together and all in competition with each other. Saw a lot of talented people who weren't allowed to get past the first few words of a song and then others who were mediocre at best treated special. It became apparent to everyone there we were wasting our time. Several people left before there names were called. Total sh@# show.

This is wild! A lot of TV is fabricated. Even The Voice, it seems, has a lot of fabrication behind the scenes. I like Andres' experience though because it had some real musicianship involved. Overall though, the message is: whether you go on a TV show or not, if you wanna have a career in music you gotta put in the work! 🙌 😀

Yup. Gotta put yourself out there and put in the time and effort. Constant opening and closing of doors. Patience and persistence more than anything. Stay focused and don't get discouraged.
