I understand the criticism that it's questionable that an entire album has the same ballad vibe, but I don't mind it too much, because personally I like that there are some albums like this and I can listen all of it without waiting for an edm pop drop to cut my mood

i agree and would also argue that some of the songs aren’t really ballady- none of them are super uptempo obviously but songs like lovesick, dreamer, and bewitched aren’t exactly slow or sad

When I listened the album for the first time that's what I thought But listening more and more I started to think that it was insane to think the songs are alike, to me all the songs have a different vibe lol

Yes it is so good!!

Nocturne is actually the name of a type of Romantic Period song that a famous piano player from the 1800s named Chopin is known for! He wrote like 12 of them and they’re all so breathtaking. Anyway, it’s so cool that she starts with his original themes of Nocturne and then writes in her own stuff too! Knowing this background makes this song sm more meaningful. I love Laufey and as a music student, it’s so so SO good and cool to see how she uses her classical training to make such amazing and relevant music.

Ive been listening to laufey since her first singles on TikTok and let me tell you gotta listen to "let me break your heart" again with the philharmonic orchestra!! It makes me float

on tour she changed the second chorus lyric of Letter to my 13yo self to “and youll win a grammy too” tears.

I love it when the order of songs on an album are well thought out I love that in this album it kind of goes in order of falling in love with someone. It starts with being heartbroken then transitions into a whimsical happy stage then it translates back into losing the love and it kind of turns into a loop

1:10 adam neely has a great video explaining laufey's musical genre, but her music also has some fantastic classical music and musical theater influences. i heard someone described her music as "more digestible" version of these genres (which i vehemently disagree with), but i do like the fact that people who listen to laufey's music are starting to kind of get into classical music and jazz. as someone who's played both before (but is more classically inclined), i think laufey's music and her recommendations for jazz and classical music are great ways to introduce more people into the genres.

Listening to this album for the first time, oh god I got chills listening to Serendipity (I started listening to everything after FTS). Laufey’s voice is insanely ethereal, it’s like an angel whispering in my ears. And now I’m sobbing at “let her know that she’s beautiful” (LTMTYOS).
