    I love this game! I remember playing it when i didn't have internet access. At first i was like "I wish i had a guide" but then i started to figure out everything on my own and i was happy i didn't have a guide. The feel of acomplishment when you try everything and finally succeed is great, i felt like a real detective!

    Never played the first or the second one, but the third one was the first game that my parents bought for me only, not for my older brother or my younger sister, but for me... I still got it sitting behind me in the room on a shelf in its magnificent big cardboard box starring at me, those cowboy eyes used to haunt me in my sleep as a young teenager, until I beat the game over and over again... nowadays I tried to play it one more time, but the game constantly got me stuck in a room where the glitchgremling reared its ugly head and wouldn't let me leave, started the game over, and the same thing happened.. so maybe another time on another computer :) great review, those jumping sections looked just as hard as in the third game :P keep up the good work!

    You'll be disappointed to here that Alone In The Dark 2 (which was also released on 3DO) focuses much more on combat and less on puzzle solving. This would be fine except the game engine was not built for action and as a result, the game becomes a frustrating chore that feels very stop and start. Alone In The Dark 3 (which sadly didn't see a release on 3DO) did thankfully fix most of 2's probkems.

    Its still a good game, just not the 3do version imo. It's laggy, the graphics are blurrier, it runs in a smaller bordered window, and the save file takes up like half of the 3do's save space. Just stick with the GOG version, it's a much better experience imo of course.

    Found this one complete in box recently, what a way to start my 3DO collection! I was getting wrecked by the controls, since the game starts throwing a lot of shit your way right off the bat, so I decided to search for reviews to try and get a feel on the controls.

    I just loaded this up in DOS Box earlier this week & tested. Ran great. On my list to beat it someday. I finished the 2nd game in the series on the Saturn. It takes place during the day (ha! dark?) & there's pirates. Same situation though, use a FAQ as I recall one puzzle that required you to do a couple random actions across 2 floors.

You always had interesting news info that other channels wouldn't provide . also really liked you're cheap games segment and enjoyed hearing you talk about games you were playing recently that weren't really new releases. It made me look through my back catalog and finish some old games I had left behind for newer ones. would love to see it come back. good luck either way with the future of you're channel I know I'll be here.

    I preferred this version over the DOS version because of the run button. On the DOS version there was no run button, so you had to double press forward, and it was really finicky about double tapping speed.

    In the part where the jump action is added to the player's list of actions, I didn't fall for any of the optical illusions with the backgrounds. Like the one which tricked you at 9:17.

    An authentic remake of this game would be pretty fresh but they always try to make it modern day and have Carnby be a 'cool' gritty character 🙄 It should be almost exactly this but with better, more fleshed out gameplay. 1920's Louisiana, Carnby is a sophisticated mustachiod ginger, spooky mansion monsters, etc. Just take what works and bring it forward, then flesh it all out into like a 20hr game or so.

    My first one was $35 but than was in 2001 or so. My current one was $80 I think? The shop owner tossed in some loose games as well (Star Wars, Road Rash, Need for Speed, among others) so that really skews the value.

    davidvfx mmm, there isn't a version for it. I think 3DO is more powerful, compare need for speed for 3DO with any 32x game

  • @SeGa32xXx1

    @SeGa32xXx1

    Mr Objection The 3DO is absolutely NOT more powerful than the 32x. I mean just look at DOOM on the 3DO, it's a complete unplayable MESS with a frame rate that might as well have been a literal slide show you played with a controller. I know the 32x inside and out, and Virtua Racing Deluxe is definitely a greater technical achievement than The Need For Speed, playing at a MUCH more impressive frame rate. Although left largely unexplored aside from perhaps Afterburner II, Space Harrier, and especially Cosmic Carnage, the 32x's scaling abilities is also much better than the 3DOs. This is all also considering that the 32x was also barely pushed to its limits, and with the developers of DarXide stating that with more time they believed they could've gotten more out of the 32x than anyone would have expected, despite the impressive polygon count, texture mapping, and frame rate they had already achieved on the incredibly rushed development time and shoestring budget they were allotted says alot.

    SeGa32xXx1, i'm sorry but i think you're wrong. First of all i'm a Sega fan, but we can see clearly that the 32X is a weaker machine than the 3DO, even if it was released one year later. Doom on 3DO is an horrible port, but it's not for lack of power. It was given to a single developer (Rebecca Heineman) and was clearly rushed (she had only two months). You're right when you are saying that the 32X wasn't pushed to it's limits, but we can clearly say that also for the 3DO. Darxide is probably the only game with full textured polygons support on 32X (and when the ships enters or goes out of the mothership you can see that the system is working hard). All other 3D games are presented with flat-shaded polygons,. Some of them are impressive (Virtua Racing Deluxe and Virtua Fighter), as well as all super scaler games. 3DO, on the other hand, could run games likes Starfighter which were impossibile on 32X.

  • @implantgames

    @implantgames

    7 жыл бұрын

    Woah this escalated quickly. Regardless of which machine is more powerful, the 32x should have no problem with a game like this. Hell, it's possible the Sega CD had enough juice for the primitive polygons on display here. Racing Aces might be a good baseline for the Sega CD's polygon capabilities.

  • @SeGa32xXx1

    @SeGa32xXx1

    7 жыл бұрын

    arzak1 The only real advantage that the 3DO had on the 32x was its use of CDs as the game storage medium allowing for larger games, as well as more storage room for textures, audio, and the like. When you compare what the 32x achieved with its version of Doom on a 4 MEGABYTE cartridge to the 3DOs joke of a version with over 600mb to play with it's game, set, and match right there, no contest. Games like Metal Head, DarXide, Virtua Racing Deluxe, Virtua Fighter, T-MEK, Shadow Squadron, all developed with a rudimentary knowledge of how to push the hardware is enough in itself for one to see the 32x can outperform the 3DO. You say that the 3DO wasn't pushed either, when it's fairly common knowledge that it had relatively easy to use development tools for the time, and it's architecture is definitely not as complicated as the 32x's was. Claiming Starfighter isn't possible on it is total hearsay, and is probably only true with consideration to the storage limits once again. This has nothing to do with being a fan of Sega either, and besides MetalHead also had texture mapping and runs smoothly, and if you wanna fall back on the 3DOOM's development hell then we can look at FIFA 96, which also runs better on the 32x in full 3D. I'm sorry man, but you're just incorrect on this one, the 3DO technically speaking is simply not more powerful than the 32x. Add fully explored SegaCD32x functionality, and it's not even worth discussing.
