Is A Toyota 4Runner A Good First Car? 5 Things To Consider

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A Toyota 4Runner makes a great first car in my opinion. They might be bad on gas and expensive to buy but they're safe, reliable, and much cooler than the average soccer mom-mobile.

1982 Toyota Tercel hatchback, sold it with 450K kms to a student driving to Texas for school. What a reliable car, super fuel efficient.

81 CJ7 that I got when I was 14. It was a pile of rusted parts, and I learned quite a bit about mechanics in order to get that sucker on the road when I was 16.

Agreed. Daughter's turning 16 this year, and my 4th gen V8 is what she'll be "permitted" to drive.

As someone who's currently in college and drives a 4th gen 4runner to school, everything you said in this video is 100% true. You've definitely got a new lifelong subscriber here. :)

My first car is a 2004 4th Gen 4runner RWD V6. I've been driving it for the past 3 years ever since getting a job, and it's been in my family since I was less than a year old. Very reliable, it has over 258,000 miles all belonging to my mother, father, and now me. Going to keep it until I'm done with my Master's program, and maybe even beyond because its just been that reliable.

Nobody in the family wanted to drive the 4th gen V8 (even if I pay for insurance) because of its gas consumption. 😅 They bought other Toyota models instead.

My first car: 2011 Toyota 4Runner Limited 👌🏻 Something I struggled at first was the size... I live in a city, so dealing with narrow streets and parking lots can be a challenge for an inexperienced driver

Yeah, even as a smaller SUV they're still pretty big for a new driver to get used to

Yea i total agree they’re great first cars, I wish I had a 4Runner when I was in high school (2011) instead of a old sports car (88’ Nissan 300zx) Although it was cool and it did teach me how to wrench which led me to become a mechanic by trade. I would’ve benefited more from a reliable SUV in those days, lot of friends and lots of adventures I could’ve have without having friends lap sit and stuff another In the trunk 😂 indeed teens are stupid and crazy! I was no exception. Now a proud owner of a 3rd and 4th gen 4Runner!

Only problem for young ones to drive these wonderful vehicles is the price of gas, they can’t afford it 😢

I have my 5th gen 4R im paying off and driving my civic CNG filling up on $10 saves me money having both cars. I highly recommend getting a little shit box on the side for like $1k-$3k. I drive my civic for every day things and 4R for long distances drives

How the heck could a student afford a used 4Runner, I'm 59 years old and I can't afford a used 4th Gen myself.

I drive a fuel efficient 4banger as a daily and save my 4runner for weekend trips. 4runners are also great for watching drive in movies or if you have dogs

It’s so hard. I’m trying to decide between 2008 dodge ram Laramie and 2004 Toyota sr5 4Runner. In the military trying to get a moving vehicle and I want the 4Runner but I want to know if it’s the good choice. It has 163k
