Is 2023 Lexus NX 350H the Future of Crossovers? I Had Very High Expectations on Dynamic Drive

In this video, I drive Lexus NX 350H on City Streets, Highway and Canyon Roads and spend total close to 100 miles to deliver my final feel score at the end of the video on how good this car is.
The NX 350H is packed with features that make it a great choice for crossover buyers who prefer comfort over performance.
Unfortunately Lexus NX 350H is still not a driver's car as it's suspension is not as well refined as some European rivals like BMW X3 and power delivery doesn't inspire Premium feel. But even then Lexus NX350H still scores high in steering response and overall value.

Have the exact vehicle. IMO best looking vehicle on the road. Had in two months in the winter months and averaging over 40 mpg. J D Power again has ranked the NX as the most dependable compact luxury SUV. They again rank Lexus #1 in dependablilty who has been # 1 22 out of the last 27 years. Alex on Autos KZread's best reveiwer gave the 2023 NX an A in ride, A- in cabin noise A+ in gas mileage and a A- in handling. Absolute love the NX. Friend just bought tyhe same NX in atomic silver and gives it a 100 on a scale of 1-100 in satisfaction of ownership.

Thanks for your feedback on the NX350h. To answer your comment this is how I would break it down: I definitely agree on these points: -Best Reliability out of all luxury brands -Very high quality materials -Very good gas mileage. Toyota is on top especially in self-charging hybrids -Also I loved the steering. It feels direct. Very easy to drive in the city As for driving dynamics - Lexus crossovers have never been drivers' cars, so from safety point of view it has decent handling, car does feel stable. From driver's point of view when you throw this car in few turns you will quickly realize NX 350h is far from having good handling. It is simply not tuned for that. New Lexus RX on the other hand offers a good mix of smooth ride and decent handling which shows even on twisty roads. -Cabin noise is about average for the class. I would say same as X3, although these run flats generate some extra noise. I expected the new NX to be something closer to what new RX is, but instead they made them completely different. P.S These are my personal observations. Everyone's perception can be different. Thanks,

Alex On Autos always tests the top trim of each car. Majority of people are buying lower trims. These ratings are not objective. Not arguing about ratings of NX though. I actually think that Lexus ratings for the top trim will be very close to the base trim due to the same suspension / NVH / technology.

I don't own an NX but I read and watch lots of reviews about it because I really like the car.The problem with the tire noise and suspension being firm might come from the fact that the car is running on run flat tires witch are known to create this kind of problems.

  • @100miledrive

Run flat tires certainly add to the driving experience being firmer, however even then I could feel that shocks are tuned different on new NX where shocks absorb bumps firmer. Certainly not a deal breaker, I just expected them to feel more refined. Nevertheles Lexis NX is a pleasant car to drive. If you are considering it make sure to rent and drive it

Thanks for the feedback. Macan T is certainly a car for enthusiasts. This is basically a baby Macan GTS but with 4 cylinders. I personally think Porsche is one of the best brands as long as you can afford it and keep your maintenance costs low. I will bring maybe within 1-1.5 months Macan S on the channel to compare with my X3 M40i. My recommendation would be to rent Macan T for a day and drive it. You want to understand whether it's worth getting Macan T or stay with a base Macan or even upgrade to Macan S.

This rating was based on my driving experience which mostly was affected by run-flat tires which made it feel bumpier and noisier than it should have been and chassis feeling like old Toyota Chassis. I will revisit this again to have another fresh look. Overall it's a great value in terms of luxury, reliability, but I expected a lot more. A car which really surprised me with it's driving dynamics is new revised Honda CRV Hybrid. It's not luxury but drives very close to European cars.

I have three concerns about Genesis in no particular order: the quality of the dealers and rumored lack of support if you have any problems early on; the potential lack of reliability (track record in other words) and the significant depreciation, which I saw over five years was as much as 75%. This is why I used to lease….you either drive a car into the ground or get a new one every three or so years, in which case leasing is the way to go.
