That hairline is proof positive he didn’t go to a plastic surgeon who’s skill level was on par with his chefin skills. It’s criminally bad insofar as it’s obvious artificiality.
I have always been in such awe of this man!!! His skills are beyond amazing. I could watch him all day.

he is a legend and true master.
What a humble master of the culinary arts. I wasn't intimidated to watch this, it felt like I was watching my uncle teach me something. What a great guy. I would love to learn more knife skills from him!
I grew up watching this guy on a the Iron chef. Massive respect to his skills and creativity.
I’m so relaxed watching him, love seeing such intense knowledge and skil
For Japanese cuisine, he's my favorite chef. His cooking is amazing.
YASSS. Morimoto is a LEGEND. I am HERE for this content.
I travel a lot for work and I love watching the kitchen work Japan is always my favorite. I take time off and go to Hokkaido. The seafood restaurants at the docks are my favorite. you watch them bring in all the fish from the boat. And while they are cooking you here silence. You smell the oils, and sauces. Watching a kitchen work so efficiently without anyone breaking silence once, is the most beautiful, and peaceful experience anyone can have.
That's the most beautiful sashimi plate I've ever seen. Wow 😲
Jeez, what incredible skills the way he trims those fish perfectly with absolutely zero waste, and the way he unravels an entire vegetable in one piece like a scroll. Unbelievable. I'm pretty sure he gets knives made by some old-timey traditional Japanese smith like they were a set of Hanzo swords or something. Morimoto is like a samurai of sushi.

The knives he are using here are Miyabi which is Zwilling's Japnese knife division. They make great knives with incredible consistency!

Morimoto has is probably the best I've ever seen with a knife. If I've ever seen someone better, ironically enough, it's his Iron Chef colleague, Hiroyuki Sakai.

Agreed. Morimoto and Hiroyuki Sakai are excellent. I also highly recommend watching chef Hiroyuki Terada and his knife work. Very precise and skilled as well. He has a KZread channel as well.
How this man has 10 fingers after all these years is a testament to his greatness
he just gave y'all some game right there!!! I love at the end "ill show you where I buy my knives next time" lol
My favorite Iron Chef...
My Favorite Iron Chef♥️♥️♥️
I was just watching iron chef old school show i’ve always admired him as a cool chef as a kid still till this day his skills are amazing 👀
It’s so exciting to watch them
Wow! He’s amazing.
He's so freaking awesome and impressive
Greatest iron chef ever!
A true master of knives!
The knife is a mere compliment to your extraordinary skill.
My favorite iron chef 😁
This is the level I hope to reach one day!
Just beautiful.........💗
Amazing.
Note: On the Knife sharpening section Mr.Morimoto talks about grinding 1 side 8 times, the other twice. I believe that is because he is using a japanese single beveled blade.
@alexnd1ke393
3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your knife many Japanese double beveled knifes are sharpened on a 70/30 or 80/20 bias.
@cherrybomb3713

He's essentially touching up his edge. Not re profiling it. Could be because he's better at a motion on one side or just prefers it.

I dont think u sharp the other side of a single beveled lol

Indeed, apparently he was flat on the bevel one side (sort of scandi grind) and flat on the side the other.

Where can I buy those knives?: "I tell you next time ok"... RIP if anyone thought they could afford those knives.
Interesting video, but he really could have used a mic.
Morimoto is the KNIFE NINJA!!
First time getting in a video so soon 😁
His hand movements are giving me anxiety LOL - Sick skills though proper
I have known many Japanese chefs in my life. None of them will tell me where to buy a knife. You'll have to figure that shit out on your own.

I like when he says where can I buy your knife? answer the home shopping channel LOL and if your willing to tell a friend your not only going to get one knife but two...
As someone who is 34 and has about 21 years of knife skills: A good knife can allow you to work to your full potential but it can't make you any better. The *only* way to develop knife skills is by doing and doing again and again. Chefs can't even agree on technique, use what works best for you.

Where next time chef morimoto we are waiting ,,😭😭😭
Beside the Nenox. What knifes are been used in this video? Like, the ones with black handle...
Is his line of knives from Miyabi? Expensive!!!
Lmfao, Chef where can I buy your knife? "I tell you next time ok?" 🤣
If I tried to sharpen a knife with that technique, I would have to mail it to Japan to save it.
you can buy many microphones with the price for one of those knives
morimoto said yeah I'm on tv but have you ever tried drawing on your knives with a sharpie???
@shakerson

This is just a learning technique. He doesn't do that normally. It's how I learned freehand sharpen to shaving sharp.
What brand is his Deba knife?
I'd like to know the MSRP on those high end knives he unwrapped! 😳

The ones he pulls from the covers/sheath look like nenox/nenohi knives which are around 900 bucks give or take. The ones he uses that have his name are probably custom.

Looks like a YOSHIHIRO HI-SOFT in XL to me
It’ll be $320.95. Would you like a sake pairing for another $175.95? It looks awesome tho!
Allez Cuisine!!!!
What brand of Japanese knives does Iron Chef Morimoto use? He never mentions the brand. I do see a Nakiri and Kiritsuke. but not brand or model mentioned.
this chef is miles ahead of the other dude who uses honey, chipotle and whole grain mustard on most of his dishes.
This video would be great if Morimoto was mic’d and the camera shots weren’t so far away. Hard to understand what’s going on when you can’t see or hear anything he’s doing.
lol lol lol Yes please tell next time. :)
The cheapest knife in his set is like $500.
Knives he wins Iron Chef with are Nenox. Knives he is sponsored are Miyabi Pro. Which knives are better? Nenox, easy win.
Gurunya chef juna 🤣
This dude needs to invest in what we call in Murica a mic vs. the directional or omni? mic off the camera that they were using.
All his knives are traditional single bevel.
How about turning that radish into one big sheet
and where is next time?
Video felt so rushed. Wanted to see more cutting action.
Just because you can buy a Ferrari doesn't make you Mario Andretti.
Steven Seagal level hairline.
That big as chip on that nenox 😞
You can buy your knife in local Chinese grocery store for £15.
Deep respect tp Morimoto san but if you don't know how to season your food, no amount of sharp knives will save you. Just how I feel.
Don’t do the thing he does placing his fiber near the edge Man, cuts are very very pinful
I hope people don't follow this sharpening technique, he didn't go into detail how to sharpen each types of knives he has. Please don't learn this the hard way.
Love the knives 🔪 but am I the only health freak noticing him touching fish and then touching other items in the kitchen? My God 🤢
Don't buy his knives. Just buy Japanese knives from Japanese smiths, his knives are made by German company, go figure /shrug
Eat your heart out, Ramsey.
