IRO Rear Unibody Stiffeners, Project Overlander Gets a Stronger Frame!

I'm finally back at Project Overlander. Today I'm welding in the rear Unibody stiffener kit made by Iron Rock Offroad. These stiffeners add a ton of strength and rigidity to the thin XJ unibody frame rails. This kit not only strengthens the outboard face of the unibody rail, but also wraps fully underneath, making them much stronger than other designs. Thanks to the guys at IRO for providing this excellent fitting and well thought out kit!

    I cant say the music was enjoyable (but I DO have access to a volume button); but, what I can say is your work is amazing. I dont think I have ever seen frame stiffeners look so seamless when installed. Thank you for taking the time to post this. Again, amaxing work, Sir. You have a gift with that welding machine!

    Another professional one Tyler. Frame stiffeners are on my winter project list. One day I opened the back hatch on uneven ground and it wouldn't close again until all four tires were more on an even plane. Until then I didn't get the amount of twist the frame allows. Appreciate you, Tim and Nate staying with the core values that made this channel great. Started having to skip a few from the other part of your team. They seem to be going the sensationalized, click bait, sellout, used car salesman route. Look forward to your next one and thanks again for keeping it professional.

    Looking for an opinion. What are your thoughts on using self tappers to hold the stiffness in place before welding? I do not know how to weld, but im contemplating buying a mig and starting to practice before i touch the xj. Ive always wanted to, but ive never had the funds or need. The thought behind self tapper would be. If i was going to lay to have it done. I would do all the prep work, them use the tappers to line everything up before having someone there. Im extremely picky with alignments, so that way i could take my time get everything perfect, them let someone just focus on the welds to save on cost.

  • @Logan-de3xx
    @Logan-de3xx2 жыл бұрын

    May I ask, what type of welder did you use for this and what wire feed? I’m just trying to begin to weld and want to practice so I can do most of the work on the Jeep myself. I’d really appreciate your advice and thank you so much for this video. I love how careful you are and that you really made sure it would be perfect.
