More Information:
A kind viewer sent us a big selection of these tins of boiled peanuts. At first, we were confused... but then we did what we do best. We sat our Irish People down (sorry Dermot) to see what they thought!

I believe this is a southern thing. I never heard of them until I moved south. They were sold as a fund raiser where I worked. I think they were bagged. My daughter in law loves them and buys the canned ones. Personally I don't care for them.

Dear lord! 1) DON'T EAT THE SHELL! Always remove the peanuts from the shell. 2) Always drain the liquid from the can before consuming. Put a colander in the sink and dump the contents in it before commencing to snack. 3) It's not hair, they're roots. 4) It's not a tail, it's a stem. 5) Buy boiled peanuts fresh, not out of a can if you can help it. It helps if it's some rough-looking guy with a pickup truck on the side of the road with a huge boiler in a tow-behind trailer. A dog lying nearby is optional.

As a Florida man that makes his own and never eaten any from a can, this is great. A couple of those flavours turned my stomach, but y'all need to try some fresh ones with a good lager. A good lager. Take fresh raw peanuts and boil them in the crock pot for 24 hours with cajun seasoning or crab boil (Zatarain's is best), big jar of jalapenos plus the pickling juice, a couple habaneros, and cajun salt to taste. The juice will stain clothing and furniture, but fresh and hot they are great with a good Red Stripe or other heady lager.

1:39 Dermot says "the outside flavor was alright but the inside" Oh bless their hearts, didn't anyone tell them they needed to shell the nuts? Listen, someone needs to win the lottery and fly the whole team over here. Or fly a team of seasoned cooks over there :) You need to try them fresh from your local fruit stand. Goodness knows how long they've been in the can.

rosencain...agreed! "raw" peanuts from the farmers market & fresh-boiled are also a MUCH better bet than the "green" peanuts that Peanut Patch brand boils & cans (not that i mind either of them, but just sayin') ...& why in the ACTUAL EFF were these guys given FORKS...with boiled peanuts?!?!?

Boiled peanuts started popping in Houston gas stations a few years ago. They are located in the self serve hot dog and nacho area, in a small heated pot with a serving spoon. I have never seen anyone buy it or ever go to this section. Based on this video I don’t think I will ever venture out to try them either.

i have lived in the deep south all my life. I love peanut butter and roasted peanuts. I stop on the side of the road (and more lately in convenience stores/gas stations) and buy these every year or so because I know everyone else here loves them. it's ALWAYS the same for me. bleh! nah! I prefer my peanuts not all wet, soft, and slimy thanks. It's like eating boiled okra or something. no thanks. btw I am 57, if they were good, I would know by now.
