First time I'd ever seen or even heard of them was on a road trip through Georgia, starting from Savannah. I actually dipped into South Carolina for a bit and the first stop I made was at a gas station; as I was wandering around the mart, I came across two large kettles that looked like soup, then noticed the sign that said "boiled peanuts" - one was regular the other was cajun. Intrigued, I filled two small styrofoam containers with one of each, figuring I'd give them a shot. Long story short (too late), I fell in love with them and the rest was history. I got a new batch every chance I could that trip lol.
I’m sorry, but I’m from the south and I’ve never met a single person who eats the shell of the boiled peanuts

Except for the very small ones that are super soft by the time the large ones are finished cooking. Seriously those baby peanuts are crazy good whole.

I've had them a few times and the few times I've had them they're supposed to be really soft, like slightly firm cooked white beans soft. I loved 'em with Creole/Cajun seasoning.
Oh, this is something new for me. Never seen this before! Great new Video! :)
We live in Ontario our grandma always brings us back a bunch of those from Florida every year. We love them!!!
Always enjoy your videos Ken great one!
Hey ken! I love them but prefer the Cajun flavored ones! I usually pop the whole thing in my mouth and crack them to get the juices and spit the shell out after! Love them!

I live in San Diego CA and got introduced to boiled peanuts 15 years ago! I LOVE them! I have eaten the shell also and liked it. Boiled Peanuts are awesome! Love your videos!
I love the cajun version , especially the ones that you can get from convenience stores in my area ( Sc). But when we cannot find them we do buy the cajun ones in the can.. When we get them in the can I usually heat them up long enough to soften up more and get really hot.

I know this is a year old comment but if you go the can route, use alot of crushed Red pepper flakes a few hefty shakes of cayenne pepper ground and done black pepper, when you add salt do it to taste so add some taste and the determine if you need more or less if less add a little water to boil the excess off.
@ValoryRansom

@@ThatGuyHim32 Thank you for the suggestion. They are so tasty , especially after you let them boil until they get soft and I have added extra seasoning to them , in fact I'm going to see if I can find them because it's been awhile since I had them. Merry Christmas to you and happy new year.
I’m from south bama home of the National peanut festival, most of north americas peanuts come from within 5 miles of my home. Boiled peanuts can be found everywhere. Freshly made is better but I’ve had the can a few times. Fav beverage would be an ice cold Coke, salty & sweet, good beer snack too, Heineken works but I prefer something a bit more local.
Oh he’s getting flask alright!!!! 😂😂😂Road side stands are the ONLY way to go!!!!

If you're going to eat boiled peanuts don't crack them open with your hand put them in your mouth and crack it open with your teeth so you get the juice as well as the peanuts

Great video Big K. Love some BOiled peanuts.
I just had boiled peanuts this afternoon. I love them. I tried to make my own. They did not turn out right. I am from NC. Glad you liked them. Staple of the South.
Nice! Been waiting for this
Nice glad you love them live in Mississippi boiled peanuts or fine glad you did a video
50 years ago we went to baseball games on Oahu, HI and my mom would get us boiled peanuts from the vendors walking up and down the steps of the stadium. They were in little brown paper bags and very warm . They were delicious and we got to throw the shells on the floor.
Very cool stuff Ken! And in your own kitchen too!
Nations Fresh foods in Hamilton actually has Raw Peanuts in their Flyer. They have multiple locations in Mississauga, Vaughn and Toronto as well that would probably carry them. It would be cool to have a cooking video with you making them.
I never have tried boiled peanuts but I see those cans in the grocery store all the time. After this review, I might have to try some!
Very interesting! Never heard of boiled peanuts! I'd love to try them!💣💯
Yumm
Hey Ken, awesome food adventure and cool too! I like boiled peanuts. 🥜🥜
Loved how you said 'Coors' lol. Im from North Carolina and I have never tried boiled peanuts for the 30 years I have been alive. Im curious to try them someday.
If you like the boiled peanuts in the can you will love the fresh ones.. Boiled peanuts are a big thing here in South Carolina also.. IF I buy the can ones I drain and rinse them.. Then add more water, a little salt and boil them for at least 30 minutes.. There's a produce stand near my house that sells fresh boiled peanuts.. The plain ones, dill pickle flavor, bbq flavor and cajun flavored boiled peanuts.
Need them Cajun style so good!
I remember in my childhood getting a rectangle plastic container of ready to eat boiled peanuts at an asian market called 99 Ranch Market. It was always yummy!
Always wondered what was in them cans 🤔.. Here in Florida, we eat them fresh boiled peanuts hahaha
First time I heard of this. Should be interesting.
The salted water is a brine. Along with the vinegar is how you pickle vegetables. Or cure meat.
i love boiled peanuts. Originally from South Carolina where they originated. Boiled Peanut stands on roadside all over.
From the Peach state myself. Ice House beer goes great with green boiled peanuts.
At my university at the deans office one of the clerks makes boiled peanuts and one crockpot has spicy and after we finish the peanuts I take instant ramen noodles and cook them in the broth and boy is it good!
I’m here in East Alabama somewhat near Atlanta and we literally have multiple food trucks just for boiled peanuts. They go perfect with Bluemoon.
Weird thing. Reminds me to the guy in Texas who cooked the radish for lunch.
I love those things
Boiled peanuts and Coors Light...perfect!! Learned to love these down in Pensacola, FL.

I used to see roadside stands selling boiled peanuts when I was stationed in Alabama when I was in the Army. Tried them once and one time only. A fellow soldier had bought a sack and I tried one. First off they smelled horrid. The only comparable smell to me were soybeans when my family visited my mom's cousins and aunt in Illinois. Texture wise there were slimy. And the stuff inside was like eating slimy jellied goo.

A real southern treat! Boiled peanuts are yummy! Cant go wrong with a Pabst Blue Ribbon to pair them with. My fiancé loves boiled peanuts, even the canned. The fresh ones are heavenly. Hello from NC 👋😁
Nice stove and range hood Ken!!
More simple videos like these please
#1 Only eat the shell if it is really soft #2 When doing in the crockpot pot we add a beer to the crockpot and let them cook for 24 hrs if raw peanuts. #3 there is really no other brand here in Alabama than the brand you got sent and they sell these at the gas stations
I'm from Georgia and I love them
Yummy boiled peanuts! A fav when down on the beach in South Carolina (leaving our shell piles next to us)...the can will do when you have the craving back up North!
Boiled peanuts are popular in China . (Expat living in China ). They add a spice / flavor that I don’t particularly care for. Plain boiled peanuts, on the other hand, are great !
@AmelieZh
3 жыл бұрын
The spice varies province to province but usually just salt n star anise
In East Tennessee we get them fresh and hot at gas stations and some roadside fruit vendors will serve them steaming hot.
The fresh boiled peanuts are definitely the best but those are a good replacement when you can’t get fresh!
Yummy!!!! You need to boil them longer so the shell gets super soft. Cajun Boiled Peanuts by Peanut Patch are my fav if i can't get fresh ones.
It's amazing that I have lived in the northeast and mid-atlantic regions in the US and I have never heard of these. Look interesting. Next time I am in the southeast, I will need to try them.
Finally! The boiled peanuts!
That second peanut looked like a pimple popping... 😂
Dr. Pepper goes perfectly!!! We used to have these shipped to us in California as a Christmas present from Georgia! ❤️

lol! I'm from Florida, and I love boiled peanuts! ^_^ They're so flavorful! :D Dry roasted peanuts are good too, but boiled peanuts just taste better to me! :D
Those peanuts are produced in my state of South Carolina and they are very good. You do not need to heat them up if you do not want to. They are good cold right from the can or refrigerator. I do not prefer beer with mine I like an icy classic Coke. Who eats them with the shell on? I have never heard of that before and I am a full-blooded southerner. You find that same brand at convenience stores.
Neat! Never heard of boiled peanuts.
Fresh boiled peanuts are amazing, particularly the Cajun ones. Here in the South (Miami) you can get them fresh at any 7-11. I usually eat them with root beer.
Why do we not have these in Canada? or do we? I'd try them! Love trying new foods

Make your own. Find raw peanut and boil
Have some in the pressure cooker right now.
A nice cold Shiner Bock and some 🥜 are always a great combination for me.
My local gas station sells that same brand but they sit in a slow cooker all day. So soft. But my friend sells them in batches and they are the best.
They have a display in my local IGA. I'll buy a can and try!
Ken you gotta try the cajun ones. They are superior! Sending good vibes from Florida!
You just squeeze the shell on the seam, it splits apart, then you suck out the juice, then eat the peanuts.
GOOBERS! Boiled peanuts are called "goobers" in the Deep South. Peanuts are not a nut, but a legume which probably originated in South America.
that looks sick
Wow would love to try such an exotic American specialty!!
Bro those are the best
Greetings from Florida! PBR any day. And best to slow cook a can. Can add what flavors you like
Hi Ken, hope you are doing well. Never knew this was a thing.
I make my own add garlic and onion powder and hot sauce cook. In large 3 gallon pot overnight on low simmer about 3 pounds of peanuts Yum yum freeze in bags with the e Water. I'm from Florida and been doing them for 20 years my kids are addicted to them
Boiled peanuts always go hard and Budweiser 🙋🏽♂️
They are everywhere in Mississippi and Louisiana, gas stations sell them on the counter in crock pots. I dont see the appeal but if you like them you like them.
Here in North Carolina people love their boiled peanuts. I personally can’t stand them. Much prefer roasted with the shell. Have a great week, Ken!
I am in North Carolina and tried them once with my niece, she just opened up the can and went...nuts. :D She loves them, just like that. I didn't, but would retry them heated up or fresh at a fair/farm.
Boiled peanuts are popular in Hawaii too
Ok u need to try the spicy kind
I love boiled peanuts. Never had them from a can, here in GA USA they sell them by the side of the road. People do suck the salty water from the shell.
