Look at all of the East Asian car companies that operate plants in the USA and Canada to scoop up a sizable chunk of the North American automobile market, British Petroleum being a fairly popular energy company in the USA despite being from the UK, and every foreign company that tries to stake a claim in China. Hell, nearly the entire Atlantic Cruise Ship market (save for a few ships) is run almost entirely out of various Caribbean nations due to favorable maritime laws, even though most of the companies operating there are foreign. Also, in the Case of H&K, the US civilian arms market isn't their only source of major income. H&K is the main small arms contractor for the Bundeswehr (German defense force), and they also have contracts with NATO and other European Union member nations, so its not like they soley sell to the USA.

Most Europeans are required to learn 2 foreign languages in public school. 2 very common ones are French and German if you live in the UK. Simon has said that he's taken French and German classes in school. Doesn't surprise me at all that he knows how to pronounce some German names, and easy ones at that.

In Germany we smash plates as a pre-wedding celebration. Broken pieces bring luck and all that. The whole neighborhood/friends/wider family gets invited to smash porcelain (you can get sacks with like 25kg of defective stuff for fairly cheap from local manufacturers), get drunk and eat on the happy couple's bill. And the couple has to clean up the mess everyone makes with the porcelain. It's really fun

Semi Pro Tip. If you spill a bunch of cooking oil on your floor, wipe up the majority, and then use table salt rubbing it around with your foot (in a shoe or slipper of course), It'll absorb the excess oil and make your flour unslippy. Really does work well.

Actual Pro Tip for Drinking: For every adult beverage you imbibe, have some water. I down an 8 oz glass with every one I have, and I don't get hangovers, because I'm not letting my body dehydrate. Seriously, I'm like 3 months younger than Simon, and have only had 1 hangover in my life. Mind you, in my 20's, I drank whiskey like the Irish/Native stereotypes. Still surprised I never poisoned myself. But yeah, drink some water with your booze. Works for me, every time.

There are some companies in America where you can pay to destroy things - which can include TVs, chairs, tables, TV stands, dishes, and more (depending on the package). One even offers a package where you can destroy all the stuff inside - including the walls. Some give you just the stuff to destroy but others offered tools to do the job. The best one I saw cost $500. You got a sledgehammer, several hammers, a few large wrenches, and some other things. You were provided a 7x7 room with an assortment of dishes and breakables, obsolete tech, a strong desk and chair, random items to smash, throw, and otherwise destroy, the walls and even the frame for the room. After you were done you also got a T-shirt with your choice of a few pictures of you in action.

Your comment regarding Americans claiming to be Irish, or Italian was spot on. It drives me insane when they do that. People here are so caught up in distinguishing themselves from each other that very few would simply call themselves "American" and would be derided if they did. It's as if many are ashamed of being Americans.

"Message received, Chief!" 10 US Marines spent the whole day in a task only a Marine could do properly.
