I am an Armenian and we say jigyar too. We also use zahremar. Also we a word called khnamakhos similar to the the word of the meeting of the parents of couple.

The problem is the same in Malay; Hati = ❤ (the emotional heart) Hati = Liver (the organ) Jantung = heart (the organ) So someone says "you are my heart" they are also saying "you are my liver." Another saying is "pengerang jantung" (you make my heart flutter) but luckily it is for children.

In Hindi, similar to Persian, there is an expression called " jigar ka tukda " which translates to " a piece of liver " but it actually means " my dearest "!!

Yes. A similar term exists in persian language. "Jigar e man" is used to say to someone dear : my liver. Or simply you can say Jigar to a girl, meaning Cute but in a vulgar way...

It's due to the Persian influence. (North) Indians don't realise how much their culture is influenced from Persia. I find it beautiful! Sanskrit and Persian are literally from the same language family and share the same origin so if anyone wants to spoil the party here's a little fun fact for you :)

Ok but “mizaramet ru saram halva halvat mikonam” has to be one of the most disturbing ways to indicate affection. Literally it means “ I’ll raise you over my head and tear you apart” but actually it’s just “I love you so much”

persian music is the best. Deeeeeep , deeeep meaning. some of them (light ones) literally are entangled with philodosy and rhym and some fast paced ones ( dancy ones) are both poetic and lovely. I absolutely love guys such as shabpareh, ghomayshi, Moeen and Hayedeh

In Turkish "ciğerim" we use this word all the time and it means my liver but pronounce is a little bit different. "Azizim" means my precious. But we don't use so much that, more like old people use that. Greetings from Turkey :)

The liver one I always found very funny, I don't think I'll ever get used to it 😂 And I'm not sure, but I think the first one is also used in Turkey (at least in some dramatic songs 😂) "Ghorbanat beram" = "Kurban olayım" = "let me be a sacrifize"? or "Canım feda olsun" = let my life be sacrifized... we can also use it to say an extreme version of "please". Fun video!

The reason why Persian speakers say jigare mani etc meaning they can’t live without the other person because the heart and liver are vital organs to live. I thought it was weird at first but found an appreciation for it when I delved further into the culture.

Amazing of how Persian people teaching their own region expressions so amusing, that every people shall learn languages in Persian with Duolingo.

Persians are the most friendly people on earth! And it's not only because of this "Tarof" stuff ;-) In no other language you will find so many different words for "Thank you"

"Khak to saret!" (we're joking!), you missed the single most important phrase! The one phrase Iranians use at least 53 times a day, "khaste nabashi" (don't be tired). I guess you left this one for us though - thanks! Check out our 'Ask An Iranian' podcasts for a deep-dive on "khaste nabashi".

haha we could have, but it was actually us (the Persian speakers) who read their anthem. The goal there was to show that the national anthem of Pakistan - although written in Urdu - uses exclusively Persian words (with the exception of just one word, 'ka'). If anyone is interested, here's the link to it, as we (Persian speakers) read and translate their anthem. Friends, friends, friends, translations always always have a context. Yes 'Jegar' means 'Liver' in English. But when pronounced as 'Jigar" it gets a different context and now it means 'Sweet heart'. In any case heart is a vital organ slightly to the left of the chest and liver is another vital organ to the right of the chest. Why should evoking one in expressions be so different to the other? It's not. It's just something missing from the English language. It exists in other languages as well as people have commented.

if the kingdom would not have fallen most of Europe would use similar language as well, its cultural for Persians but for non-Iranians it was just the language used all the way to lower parts of China for courts systems and trade as it was similar to most using English now. I have realized many non-ethnic Persians or middle easterners think it's more than what it really is but. after studying history, I actually realize how very little contact the Persian population had with the rest of the world all the way from the people of Afghanistan to Europe was like aliens to the average Persian living at those times till the 1970's ! They would send a very small military unite and like 20 intellectuals for 2 years at a time to train and help spread law systems courts and language and trade. 99% of the Persian population and other country's that learned the Persian language and systems had nearly no contact with each other till flight and roads with cars became somewhat affordable to the rest of the world in the 1960's to 1970's. I find it bazzar how much of a connection people actually believe they have with people of Iran or Persians, especially Indian Muslims or what are known as Pakistanis now for about 65 years . most actually think that the border they share with Iran actually has real ethnic or cultural Persians Turks or Arabs that have ever even stepped foot or lived any closer than 3000 miles to that tiny border thats called Baluchistan iran , A community of Indian African mixed and the smallest ethnic minority that forcefully have to fly Iranian flags that have occupied that border city for over 800 years now lol its like going to Porta Rico and thinking you just experienced America and American culture lol

Persians are only one ethnicity living in Iran. There are Turks, Kurds, Baluchi people etc. But Persians consist the majority. All these ethnicities are considered Iranians though.

Well technically no! Like most of the people use them as equivalent since even Iran used to be called Persia because Persians are the majority here. Yet it is more precise to say Iranian nowadays unless you're talking about Persian ethnicity.

As an Iranian , it’s really annoying to me that when the media or normal people like this youtuber want to show the Iranian culture , they only use secular and none religious Persians that never wear hijab or care about khastegari and other traditions , like theres no religious person in Iran or like there’s no Iranian-Arabs or Iranian-Kurds or Azeri and none-Azeri Iranian-Turks or any other Iranian cultural groups like Afro-Iranians and Turkmens and lors and Baloochs or other groups . This so annoying that people only judge us Iranians by just a cultural group of Persians that lived in main cities and are from just a part if Iran’s population and were influenced by west’s soft war on iran and not even all Persians . This is just a group of many groups of Iranians that you see here .

The people of the video could mostly represent Iranian diaspora of Toronto and you are quite right that they cannot represent Iranians in the board sense. But I am positive about the content: although it is far from being accurate, this kind of content can help to present anther picture of Iran besides the All-back and extreme picture that both Islamic republic and western media try project about Iranians. Putting all aside, it is an entertainment material of a KZread channel about dating and whatever. So it is a high expectation for it to be accurate.

Because majority of people in Iran wouldn't want to wear force hijab, this is reality when comes to showing our culture, most woemn outside of iran aren't into wearing Arabic clothes. Islam isn't our real culture and shouldn't portrait as a basses to our culture, we have enough of forced religion in Iran anyway
