Iranian-supplied 'suicide drone' being used by Russians against Ukraine

Russia is relying on Iranian loitering drones to try to regain a battlefield advantage.
The Iranian Shahed-136 loitering munition has been widely reported as a 'suicide drone'.
Russia has been using the Shahed-136 increasingly against the Ukrainians, in some part due to the contested air space over Ukraine.

    Iran entered the war 40 years ago with Iraq's attack, and the whole world gave Iraq weapons (Germany and France: chemical weapons, the United States all kinds of weapons, etc.) Now if Iran gives Russia drones 136 , is it true or not?

Second thing Iran didn't win that war Iran lost its 60000 soldiers half a trillion dollars, iran was completely disabled to threat Iraq. @Forces News: Please note the warhead size he gave is incorrect. 5-30 kg is the correct size for the smaller Shahed 131 munition. The correct size for the 136 is from 30 to 50 kg, which is significantly greater. It may be that Dr Powell has his Shaheds confused for a moment. Another factor is that it's worth mentioning that the use of "relatively cheaper" munitions like this, could cause Ukraine to use far more expensive AD missiles to remove them, cost being a factor. That said, the 136 has already been bought down by a Gepard, so that's encouraging. The graphic shown throughout is for the correct munition, the 136 though. (Wingtip extensions go up & down, while on the 131, they only go upwards).

People involved in American foreign policy staged a coup in Ukraine in 2014, with an illegal seizure of power. The purpose of the coup is to advance NATO to the East. Aggressive nationalists were involved in this coup, who torture and kill dissenting people, bending Ukrainian society. These goals and methods scared Donbass and Crimea. Therefore, they hurried to separate. In response, Ukrainian mines and shells have been falling on the heads of Donbass residents since 2014. MSM certainly do not talk about this. Because MSM is a weapon influencing public opinion. The impact comes through fakes, slander and silencing. There are free journalists such as Phillips Graham, Anna Lauren Bonnel, Patrick Lancaster, Alina Lippe. They tell the uncomfortable truth, despite the pressure on them.

    Are there any drones with guns, like a 5.56 mm light machine gun, that can shoot these contraptions down? It seems that the next step in this progression is a counter-drone drone that'll be deadly to this pest, a lot more affordable than a fighter plane but as effective for this purpose. If the gun's recoil is too much then several small missiles that could blow it up could counter them and it could be "flown" from ground by an operator who'd cost a lot less, and take less time to train, than a fighter or ground attack pilot. Another possibility is a small rocket with a line that'll get tangled in this thing's prop, that would be really cheap and easy to use.

    Your drones are only useful for killing innocent people in the Middle East and will be destroyed by our $200 anti-aircraft missile at any cost and budget, but weapons are part of the reality of war. If you don't have brave soldiers, you will lose the war, soldiers. Americans are really cowards. You should have seen their faces when our ballistic missiles hit their bases. We killed 200 of your soldiers and your government censored the incident, but the images were spread all over the Middle East.

    These drones might be too small to easily detect by radar. Their propulsion is based upon Rotax petrol engines and so make noise. Surely they could be detected and tracked using high-technology versions of the WW2 ground-based stereoscopic audio detection systems?

    Detection is not a problem but the cost effectiveness. If you use a $1.2M missile to destroy the $20k drone how can you afford all the cost?

  • @undercrackers56

    @undercrackers56

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ssjj4314 Well, you wouldn't use a $1.2M missile. For example a FIM92A stinger only cost $38K, Sure that is infrared seeking, but something similar or comparable could be made that homes in on the fairly loud sound signature of the Shahed drone. Also when calculating your cost, you need to keep in mind the cost of lives and damage caused by the drone and not just the drone itself.

    I imagine if all those resources were put into food production, then a neo colonial imperialist from Europe or North America would come and take it all, as was the case in 1973 Diego Garcia whom had its entire ethnic population of the Chagos Peoples ethnically cleansed by the UK and US. The island was transformed into an American naval base which still stands today. And the unarmed Chagos, who had put all their resources into farming coconuts and crabs, now stand naked begging for justice in a world where 99% of the global population has no idea who they even are.
