nice but now iran have f-5 (HESA) kowsar . its more better than some modern jets like f-16 or su-27 . it may get win from f-22 and f-35 too . i hope one day you fly this jet in dcs . thank you 😉😉

Lol even then I don't believe ANY F-5 is better than The F-16C and especially not The F-22!😆 Perhaps it would stand a chance against The F-35 in a dogfight, then again F-35 isn't really built for dogfighting, it's talents are definitely in the realm of BVR! Having said all that, GS is such an amazing Pilot he probably could manage a win even in an inferior aircraft, as we've seen him display in the past ;)

Haven’t even watched it yet, and I’m here to beg for more of this. The frontline US and Russian types are cool, but I love these kinds of smaller plane matchups.

The flyby at 10:12 needs to be in the trailer for DCS. That’s one of the coolest kills I’ve seen in the game.

The F1 doesn't seem to be doing too well in these matchups. So far I think it only performed favorably against the MiG-21 and even then it didn't seem that clear cut.

The F1 also has Fox 1 missiles. The F-5 can do well after the merge, but a good F1 should have won the fight before then.

@@Lexoka maybe, though there is a lot to make up for with the F1, maybe there are some pilot issues, but I have not been impressed with the F1 when encountering it.

The 13th Warrior has a great line for what just happened. The goes "It's lucky that often saves a man if his courage holds". That line has always stuck with me when I heard it because it's pretty accurate.

Looks like Taco was actually doing a great job with F1. While it was pretty much outmatch in most ways by the F-5 he still managed to get some useful AoA out of that thing at times while mostly managing the energy.

I spent 11 months in Iraq (I'm and American) and I have always liked the Middle East and the people there.

This video shows why I love the f5. It's just simply a nice little plane. Good mobility, nice guns, great looks and even an interesting history.

@@braedynhoward3644 That's pretty much what it was designed to be, since it was originally meant as an interceptor. You can tell from just looking at it that it wasn't supposed to dogfight.

Gotta love the F-5. The Miata/FRS/BRZ/Lotus Elise of the jet fighter world. Not the flashiest, but a pure joy to fly.

Taco went full boom and zoom tactics in the end to get the edge, which is most often tall tail sign that the Mirage has no maneuvering advantage in the fight

Yes, I've been asking for this one. After seeing you fly the Viggen I'd like to see what an F5 v Viggen matchup would look like

The cinematic at the end of Round 3 was pretty cool.

One reason why the F-5 is so underrated is because people fail to appreciate how much yaw authority it has at lower speeds. When you get down under 300 knots, a lot of light fighters tend to lose some yaw authority. The slower the F-5 gets, the better it gets at pointing its nose. That can be a massive advantage when the other guy has to pull hard pitch to turn while you can just bank a little, stand on that rudder pedal and hose him. Get the F-1 low and slow and he's dog meat. That's why they had to change the rules to favour long-range missile engagements at Miramar and Nellis after the aggressors switched to Tiger II's. The F-14 and F-15 guys were getting trounced, and were becoming demoralised! The general consensus was that with enough Tiger II's around, the big, expensive fighters stood no chance of achieving their mission objectives.🤣 Gotta love that sweet little F5!😉

F-5 are a legendary figther, still in service in many countries and keeping up with 4 generation like the Brazilian F-5em.

The more fights ya do the less competitive the F-1 appears to be… at least amongst comparative aircraft of the era. Pit it against something from last model year and maybe it’ll win 🙃

What competitive aircraft of the era? THe MiG21Bis is 1985. The F14A is a late 70s bird and the equivalent in it's day of an F22. The Mirage F1's only peer so far shown is the F5, and I've been killing those in my F1 with ease. It's like people don't know the basics of fox 1 tactics with poor look down radars. You fly lower than the enemy with an early dive, that's all. They dive too late, and eat the missile.

GS credits him a victory purely out of good sportsmanship. He even admits that the F1 pilot technically lost since he died and GS lived despite both aircraft being destroyed.

Bit disappointed by the F1 flight model in DCS. Dassault planes are normally dominant and the F1 had a good reputation.

Hello, if you do another F5 vs Mig 21 video, can you use the Cuban Air Force skin for the Mig and the Mexican Air Force skin for the F5? I think some combat in the americas would be cool.

I feel like this is the most even match up I have yet to watch it yet but these two seem to be evenly matched if you ask me we’ll see

It is. The f5 and f1 are fun to use against each other. Because where the f1 has its advantages the f5 does too

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

You're really committed to this, your idea is interesting. 5 or 6 rounds means having 5 or 6 different jets that the bandit has to own and be proficient with, as I don't think seeing GS do the equivalent of clubbing baby seals would be very entertaining for some people.
