More than 40 countries have expressed their interest in joining BRICS, with this number steadily increasing over time, according to an interview by Grigory Karasin, a senior Russian politician on April 16th, 2024. Karasin emphasized the attractiveness of BRICS' flexible cooperation model, citing the ongoing rise in potential member nations as evidence.
Following the recent addition of new members-Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Ethiopia-the total GDP (PPP) of the BRICS bloc is approximately $58.5 trillion USD. This enhanced economic size underscores the bloc's growing influence in global economic affairs.
The expanded BRICS now aims to be a more inclusive representation of the Global South and is positioning itself to have greater influence in global economic and political affairs.
The bloc is focused on enhancing trade and investment among its members in local currencies to reduce dependency on the dollar and other major reserve currencies. This de-dollarization move is intended to strengthen economic ties within the bloc and with other developing countries.
BRICS leaders reforming international governance structures like the United Nations equitable representation of emerging and developing economies. The group is also keen on promoting sustainable development, climate action, poverty and hunger, consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

I glad that Nigeria hopefully came back to their senses, they wanted to please the West hoping they will receive some recognition, sadly the West collective only help when they stand to benefit. I was sickened listening to one of Nigerias member of parliament claiming that exploitations by big corporates no longer exists, and that Africans are now free. Despite them applying I doubt South Africa will vote for them to join the block. What worries me about BRICS is that they want to ditch the Dollar but they have billions in reserves of the dollar, Russia's trades with SA are also not expanding. I do not want BRICS to be seen as these angry countries which do not want anything to do with the West yet they do not have a solid plan about what needs to be done to expand their economies.

There is a lot being done behind-the-scenes the infrastructure required to enable trade in the brics plus .Russia is one of the most sanctioned countries in the world at the moment so you will not expect them to be able to trade a lot or as they want with South Africa because the trade system which is being used now is under the western world control. The Brics plus have to come up with a new system which will enable a flawless trade amongst it's members. They have set up the Brics development bank which will be used to counter IMF and World bank. They have to set up the necessary institutions to counter western world led institutions to enable the smooth flow of trade. Nigeria must have misread the mood in the continent and maybe thought some countries will want to keep the current system and they will become the leaders. Realising it was a mistake they made a u-turn to avoid humiliation and embarrassment as the rest of the continent are behind the Brics plus.

Hi beautiful, you know I gotta be here. Your initial subject of BRICS brought us together. Anyway, it is quite obvious that BRICS will be full of challenges if it ever holds up to be a stable and viable organization. Imagine, for example the friction between China and India, Iran and Saudi Arabia just to name a few. I will call it an organization of frenemies.

The interactions between Iran and Isreal are having an almost insignificant impact on BRICS countries considering the group even with the original 5 countries held more resources than the G7 Western countries both in terms of population and resources. The group is going to be the wealthiest group of countries in the next 50 to 100 years with Both India and China surpassing the US by 2050 while Brazil, Russia and South will be counties with the highest standards of living irrespective of their population sizes. 4 out of 5 of these countries are already classified as upper middle class economies with only India that is still not recognised as such while SA, Brazil, China and Russia have created formidable middle class economies. South Africa with its western and eastern geopolitical consciousness has positioned itself as a major global political and economic player. With the 30th largest economy in the world and the most industrialised and developed economy in Africa, South African and the diaspora must recognise the opportunities that will come from this. The IMF has already said South Africa will again be the largest economy in Africa once again, followed by Egypt, Algeria and in fourth position Nigeria from this year.

I am thinking if they do that they will finish Bit coin because BRICS coins will be worth so much more. I am excited for that. I just hope that we South-African citizens are aware of the opportunity and buy in. The BRICS crypto coin will be backed by Gold and that is a game changer. You can claim your gold from any BRICS country. Bitcoin just another fiat currency
