    I know that the US and Iranian governments have serious grievances against each other and I won't try and deny that - but seeing this affirms my belief that all people - regardless of their race, religion, or culture - are fundamentally the same and I can't wait for the day when we're in harmony with each other. Much love from the US

    Persian King Cyrus the Great was probably the greatest king ever to rule.. His tolerance put him far ahead of Alexander the Great concerning character.. Cyrus the Great was the only non Jew the Israelites ever called a messiah because he freed them from Babylon, restored them to Jerusalem and let them rebuild their Temple. He was revered for letting defeated countries retain their cultures and practices If only world leaders today would strive to model their characters after that of King of Persia Cyrus the Great, what a much better world we would have.

    No dude, but most women in Iran wear the chador and rousari, nothing wrong with that. Im not even muslim but I have no problem with people wanting to be modest and morally upright. The chador itself along with the burka have Zoroastrian origins and arent even islamic in reality. I dont think these things should be forced or mandatory but it should definitely be encouraged.

    The headscarf (commonly referred to as the "Rousari") is the most basic form of "Hijab" (If you would even call it that). My problem is with them using the term "Veil", Not once in my 8 years in Iran (I still go back and forth annually) i have never seen a single person wearing the so called "Veil".

  • @persianguy1524

    @persianguy1524

    +Persepolis I agree, mandatory hijab is a problem, but what I meant to say was that we shouldnt discourage modesty in terms of how you should dress and carry yourself. burka comes from the Persian word Pardah/Pardeh, the muslims adopted it from the Zoroastrians when they came into contact with them. It was actually the opposite, in Sassanid and Achaemenid Persia noble women would wear the burka, not even chador, but the full on burka with the face covering and all to protect themselves or supposedly their honor from the public eye, while prositutes were forbidden to wear it.

    as an Iranian i do not like to see my country get westernized at all. we have been there before and it's a wrong thing to make a mistake twice and i'm beginning to feel like this New President has untold Plans for Iran . today we have a lot to fear for . we love to have peace with all the world and open doors to all but we have dealt with the West before and we do not have a history of honesty in diplomacy from the west and of course Russians in the past . here i would like to let all the other people from the west know that if we sense there are plots going on again , if we reject west again it does not mean we have any hostility towards the people . Iran will not compromise when it comes to some values and codes we live by and i hope the Meetings that are taking place behind closed doors are what they are supposed to be . i am an Electric Guitar player and i played in bands for 10 years so i am nothing religious or revolutionary but i know what we have achieved in the past 35 years and what we have failed to and i would not want to see my country become what it should not be .even if it means i can never play Heavy metal music on the Stage . To introduce us to Tehran, we asked Ramin Sayyed Emami to show us around. A dude who came back to live in Tehran just a few years ago and is essentially a tourist himself =))) and he moved back to the west again after his father "committed suicide" (suspiciously) in prison. Western media goes so far out of their way not to give the common Iranian a voice.

    WarriorOfWriters Wrong, their definition of modesty is different than yours. Breasts are sexual for them, but not for you. Don't hate them just for having a different definition.

    007VitaminD I'm not hating them, I love Iranians, but the modesty they live under now was forced on them after the 1979 revolution. Before then they could be immodest and fashionable. I'm not saying it was the best scenario, the government had problems but thanks to the Ayatollah the revolution because Islamic and now they are the Islamic Republic of Iran. Modesty is forced on them in accord with scripture, nothing else. And scripture is a lousy way to govern a country.

But some Iranians because of their arrogant pride always want say Iranians are this and that no matter what.

Personally 4 years since my last visit which is really sad and I missed every single thing about Iran except streets and cars and drivers:)) mate just go there and enjoy the food and culture.

    IRAN IS WONDERFUL, A VERY OLD CULTURE and, I believe, can manage the greatest ROGUE STATE on our planet. In 1943 a few "top" US men met and decided: We want to rule all countries.Between 1945 and 2015 the USA is responsible , actively or inactively, for TEN TO THIRTEEN DEAD PEOPLE!!!!
