Welcome to Iran

In Italian language there are a lot of things named after Persia. Beyond the obvious Persian cats, window blinds are called “persiane”, while peach (the fruit) was called “persica” in ancient Latin. In modern standard Italian it has become “pesca”, but in Roman dialect the old Latin term is still alive and kicking. Oh, one last thing, the Gulf is called Golfo PERSICO, not Arabico, by us too :)

We don’t have any problems with you r average citizen, we actually think your people are extremely kind. It’s our government that hates your nation which realistically most citizens of the USA rarely support on any given individual issue

Best country I ever visted. An Iranian paid my taxi from the airport to the city just because I was from Spain. An Afghan immigrant took me to his family in a basement to eat watermelon. Awesome people everywhere.

@akmelot shli No, Actually the word's etymology is like this: The word originated from Sanskrit word for River Indus which is "Sindhu", but most of west Indian languages and Persian languages dropped the "S" so Sindhu became "Hindu" and the people on the other side of Sindhu became "Hindus" so that's actually a Persian exonym for India and then the language of Hindu became known as Hindi or Hindustani.

Sindh is not equal to hindu or hind.. people of sindh practiced various other religions before vedic. And still called themselves sindha.and vedic that came in later was a very different belief from present day hinduism practiced in india.

@@dourbeen This land is Vedic since the humanity became civilised, our civilization is atleast 17000 years old (That much can be proved) we can be older than that too. And not every West Indian language drops S, most of them retain S, but a few does and the Name mainly came from Persia, because they used to call us that, the region was always called, Jambudwip then later as Aryavratta and after that Bharat.

As an Iranian I gotta say Thank you for your hard work making this video. You explained Iranian culture very well I wish you could say more about Persian poetry as it's one of the most important parts of our culture Iran's literature is just great ❤️🇮🇷 (Search Hafez, Saadi, Ferdowsi, Rumi if you wanna know more about persian poetry)

First of all any part of India has to be addressed as Indian. Second of all, India - Persia relations dates way before the rise of Islam, going back to Indus Valley Civilization. Third, state of Maharashtra and to an extent Gujarat has most number of Parsis and Iranis (the original Persian people) and they have certainly influenced many aspects of life including food. And we here observe and celebrate Navroz and Pateti with just as vigour as any other festive day. Fourth, I only mentioned food because its more universal and binding but apart from that even language has been influential. Many of the hindi words have farsi roots and vice versa. It predates modern history. India and Persia have had cultural ties for hundreds of years now. Its good to acknowledge that.

It's interesting because we have several Greek names in Iran. Like Atena, Pantea, Melisa, Arastu, Narges, Eskandar, Helia, Adrian, Elina, even Sirus which is the Greek version of Kurosh (Cyrus) and Roksana which is the Greek version of Rokhsane (Roxanne)

Haven't been to the country yet, but Iranians are some of the coolest people I've ever met.

Where are you from?

Im a white guy with persian friends. Can attest they are the most fun people. Went to a Persian wedding and the sword dance was one if the coolest things i’ve seen and they have a lust for life and celebration. In my experience, persians have a romanticism about their personalities. When they listen they listen hard, and ask appropriate questions at the right time showing genuine interest. At the same time they are very insightful. They are in touch with the world around them and their feelings they are happy to share. They are also loyal to their culture and are always happy to share traditions with outsiders. This is all anecdotal based on my relationships of course, but my friends parents are still in iran. They have an appreciation for the USA more than anyone else i know.

Lots of Love toward Iranians from an Afghanistani originated live in UK.

11:11 22 year old Mahsa "Jina" Amini, who was Kurdish, was brutally beaten into a coma and died 3 days later for not wearing the hijab in accordance with the law. The police lied, they said she had a heart attack... and now there are massive protests never seen before on a country wide scale against the Islamic Republic government and its oppression. So far as of October 5th about 80+ have been killed in the protests. They are tearing up pictures of Qasem Soleimani and Ali Khameni, school children are taking off their hijabs and throwing out Iranian officials yelling "Shame on you!", women are cutting their hair off in the streets. It's massive, and I'm really hoping that this indeed cannot be stopped, and me along with everybody in the international community must condemn this Iranian government, and stand with the people of Iran, they want to be free!

The last time I was there I was a child and it was beautiful and amazing and my heart aches so badly to return, however due to the U.S.'s laws as well as Iran's, iranian-american dual citizens are not in a great position. also as a female I would need an iranian male family member to allow me to leave the country and i am entirely estranged from my father. also my ENTIRE family in Iran (at least the ones i know and that know me) are women (and their husbands, who have never met me) sooo yeah :(
