IR Spectroscopy
Well, this is weird. What are all these squiggles? Those peaks represent the wavelengths of infrared light that don't get to the detector, because there's some functional group in the sample absorbing them. Professor Dave busts out some dance moves in this one. Do the symmetric stretch!

In my intention he deserves ALL the Sub´s...and stupid Prank Channels go crazy with subs...poor humanity. Very good information. I´ve refreshed my English skills , and on top of that, I´m packed with new knowledge. Go on to the next Video on this topic. *btw nice Tattoo *sry for misspelling xD i have to refresh even further ;) have a nice day all :)

Depending on where you are Scientists may use the opposite. Here we invert it, instead of dips we use peaks. Otherwise it's the same

I'm a senior in college and I've been watching your videos since sophomore year. You sir are a lifesaver and a gradesaver.
I swear one sentence from this man makes me understand the whole topic better than an hour class.
Hands down the easiest to understand IR spectroscopy vid I found on youtube. The explanation is clear and engaging.
Im pretty sure my chem teacher has seen this video cuz he was dancing with his arm like that in class😂

It's 12:36am and I have my chem final at 9 tomorrow morning and I'd been flipping through my textbook and noticed IR spectroscopy, which I've never seen before, but which definitely will be on the final...so I'd just like to take this time to thank you for saving me about an hour of trying to understand this just from a textbook. Thanks for saving me time and energy!

You're truly a professor, IR has never been narrated so well to me
This video changed my perspective from a neglected chapter in my Remote sensing course to me wanting to pursue a career in it. Thanks a lot!
couldn't have been explained any better. Perfect. Thanks my man! I feel extremely confident with it right now. It's time to look through all your other spectroscopy videos!
Such a great explanation. Have been struggling to understand spectroscopy and so grateful I see ur channel
finally , a concise explanation on why graphs show transmission and a reference to the detector - looking for this has been killing me , and yet a 10 minute video explained better than i could find after 20 minutes searching, thanks Professor Dave - you're a real lifesaver !
Your video was so helpful and I love your enthusiasm!
Brilliant prof. dave, you're the man! you should have way more views for this video. i'll be showing it in my lesson later today.
Everything becomes so much more clear after watching your videos! Thank you!
You explain everything so well, thank you!
needed this! we're going over NMR next week and i'm trying to get ahead :)
That was easy to understand! Thank you, Professor Dave!
thank you so much for posting tutorials like this! I was really confused when reading my textbook but from this short 10 minutes video, I actually understood because your explanation was 🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒
That witheboard has borne an incredible amount of knowledge... thank you Prof. Dave!
Hitting it out of the park. Thanks Dr. Dave
I wish our university professor could explain and made lectures, topics this easy. These videos are really helpful. Thanks to Professor Dave.
I am so thankful to you! We need more professors like you.
so well explained! These videos are such classics, people have skipped comments for 2 years now but worth updating comments.
Loved this! Thank you from Finland!
Professor Dave: talks very advanced science Also Professor Dave: *swinging my arms asymmetrically is a very difficult thing to do*
Really well explained. From very basics and in depth. Got me to study IRs of some simple molecules as phenol and acetone and benzoic acid. Thank you. IR is a really very interesting concept
Just like your other videos, this video is perfect for those who need a deeper explanation on infrared spectroscopy. To be honest I struggle with identifying stretches in an IR spectrum and this video explains that and more. Thank you.
Holy cow, you explained this so well thank you!
Your way of explaining things is really good.I enjoy viewing your lectures.
Thank you very much:D Now I understand the IR-Spectroscopy. I wached so many videos but I just understand yours. :D
Thank you Professor Dave for doing these videos!
you gave me a new insight into organic spectroscopy. Thank you for a great video.
Thank you so much, congratulations for your great explanation. Can you make a video about emission spectroscopy?

I love your symmetric and asymmetric motions 😆
Great teaching! Thanks from Brazil!
Prof. Dave saves the day once again.
Great videos prof Dave! Keep it up
I was struggling to understand. Well explained! Thanks a lot, Professor Dave.

Well, Dave thank you for your great explaining. I practise english (listening) and learn chemistry thanks to your channel. Great job! 👏👏
Parabéns pela aula!!!!! Extremamente didático! Você merece muito sucesso! Congratulations for the class!!! Extremely didactic! You deserve a lot of success!
you always make great videos but this one HIT! tysm 🤩🤩
very nice explanation, thank you very much
Thank you, this was so helpful!
Thank you so much Professor Dave! I read about this in an MCAT prep book... If we ran a spectroscopy of my understanding, it would have demonstrated 0% absorption. After watching your video I have a much better understanding of how this process works! Thank you again!

YOU ARE WONDERFUL SIR,YOUR VEDIOS ARE SHORT AND CRISP.IS JUST TAKES FEW MINUITS TO UNDERSTAND THINGS WELL
Watching this before our spectroscopy exam, thanks a lot sir .
This is what I needed. I always saved by your lessons!
I´m a spanish speaker and I didn't understand this theme before a found this video, now I totally understand everything, what a great video you have made, thanks
Concise and precise video
brilliant you're lessons always help!
You are changing lives!
Thank you!! Such a great explanation!
Well explained Prof, bravo!
Thank you, Dave!
I had never understood IR spectroscopy until now, great Video 💯
thanks Dave SO UNDERSTANDABLE
Super...less time consuming.....quick understandable❤❤❤ respecting you master 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Very informative and well explained.
A lifesaver. Keep up the great work
So so so helpful and clear. Thank you so much!!
Thank you! This is perfect, now I am aware of IR Spec and can be prepared for my quiz tomorrow
wow! amazing! it explains almost everything in my mind...
Thank you sir for after 4 years of college I finally understand IR well
Excellent explanation
well exlained! Thank you sir!
best explanation so far
He explains more than my teacher. Keep it up Professor Dave, you ain't just covering the USA, but the entire world.
Brilliant video, found it so useful!
The first three minutes are an incredible summation of the theoretical principles of IR Spec 😮 I really wish I had known this existed when I was learning about it in class 😂
this man just explained in the first 4 mins what my org chem 2 teacher in university right now couldn't explain in 5 classes.
Oh what a lovely explanation . Thanks so much professor Dave ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the explanation. It was really good and helpful for me. Thanks professor
Thanks Professor Dave
very good and helpful video, thank you!
Now my concept is clear about ir spectroscopy thanks professor Dave ✅
Wow! Great explained! Thank you Dave :)
